Chapter 24 - Aito?

Four hours after the heartfelt moment of support and laughter, the room was shrouded in a serene hush, the moon now giving way to the gentle glow of the rising sun. The first rays of morning light painted the walls in a warm hue, filling the space with a soft, golden glow. Birds chirped outside, their melodic tunes seeping through the slightly ajar windows.

An abrupt blare cut through the tranquility, the alarm's incessant ringing disturbing the peaceful morning.

RING! RING! RING!

Startled, everyone groggily roused from their sleep, blinking away the remnants of dreams.

"Ugh, whose alarm is that? It's only 5:00," Emily yawned, her voice thick with sleep.

"Morning, everyone," Clara greeted with a stretch, trying to stifle a yawn. "Guess it's time to start the day."

"Good morning," chimed in Lena, rubbing her eyes as she sat up, adjusting her pajamas.

Maria, now calmer after the previous night's emotional release, managed a playful smirk. "Sorry, guys. I guess I set it too early," she admitted sheepishly, trying to diffuse the abrupt awakening.

"It's okay, Maria. We forgive you, but only if you promise not to do it again," Sophia joked, a hint of mischief in her voice, earning a few chuckles from the group.

As the room filled with sleepy chatter about random topics, Maria turned to Emily.

"Hey, Em, could you, uh, change my hair color back now?" she asked, her argent eyes reflected a mix of anticipation and excitement.

Emily nodded, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Sure thing." She concentrated, tapping into her paragon ability.

Slowly, a faint glow began emanating from Emily's outstretched hand as she moved closer to Maria.

A soft, ethereal energy cascaded from Emily's hand, swirling gently around Maria's head.

Her blue hair, as if responding to the energy, started floating, each strand seemingly charged with the vibrant hues of change.

As the energy enveloped her, a soothing warmth enveloped Maria's scalp.

Then, with a gentle touch, Emily's hand emitted a burst of light, causing Maria's hair to shimmer for a moment.

The room was bathed in a soft, luminescent glow as Maria's hair gradually transformed back to its original hazel color, each strand cascading down in a seamless transition.

Maria grinned in delight, running her fingers through her newly restored hair. "Perfect! Thanks, Em," she said, her voice filled with joy and gratitude.

Emily smiled back, pleased with the successful transformation. "No problem, Maria. Anytime."

An hour passed swiftly, the dorm room gradually coming to life with the hustle and bustle of the morning routine. Bags were packed, makeup applied, and purses readied while the sunlight streamed in through the windows, casting elongated shadows on the floor.

Clara adjusted the strap of her bag, checking the contents. "Okay, I think I've got everything," she announced, glancing around at the others.

Lena, flipping through her purse, nodded in agreement. "Yep, all set. Ready to roll."

Maria, however, stood there with a nonchalant grin, arms crossed. "I'm good to go as is," she declared, gesturing to herself.

Sophia laughed lightly, slipping on her shoes. "Always effortless, Maria. Wish I could pull that off!"

As they continued their preparations, Emily checked the time. "Oh, it's 6:00 already," she remarked, glancing at the clock on the wall.

"Yeah, time flies when you're having fun," Clara joked, adjusting her hair.

Lena chuckled. "Sure does. So, any plans for later today, guys?"

Clara shrugged. "I was thinking of catching that new movie tonight. Anyone interested?"

Sophia nodded eagerly. "Definitely! I heard it's really good."

Emily grinned. "Count me in, for sure!"

The chatter continued as they finished getting ready, the room resonating with the sound of zippers, the rustle of bags, and snippets of conversation about their plans for the day ahead.

The morning light now filled the room completely, infusing it with a warm, golden glow that seemed to complement the excitement buzzing between the friends as they readied themselves for the day.

The girls gathered out their dorm room, ready to head to class at 6:45, knowing that their session started at 7:15.

Conversations buzzed among them as they traversed the school hallways, their 20-minute walk culminating in their arrival at the classroom at 7:05.

However, upon entering, the sight that greeted them left some of the girls wide-eyed.

The classroom was brimming with students—around 400, to be precise.

Maria, noticing their shock, calmly explained, "Oh, don't worry. It's just an introduction session for the Paragons to the real world. We do this every year. It's a recap for the old students and an introduction for any newbies."

As she spoke, a sense of assurance filled the three girls.

Maria continued, "This is my second year going through this. It's no biggie. It's more about reconnecting with what we've learned and preparing for the upcoming tasks as Paragons."

Her explanation seemed to ease the initial tension among the girls.

The room, bustling with excitement and curiosity, became a melting pot of emotions as everyone prepared themselves for the annual introduction, a reminder of their role as Paragons in the broader world beyond the classroom walls.

The girls walked through the futuristic classroom, filled with awe at the high-tech ambiance. Emily, taking the lead, guided them towards table 407, which happened to be their dorm room number. "Hey, this is our spot! It just feels right," she remarked with a grin, setting down her bag.

The room hummed with a futuristic air, a faint scent of coffee wafting in from the corner where a few students had brought their own beverages.

The environment was a blend of high-tech screens, holographic displays, and sleek designs, creating an atmosphere that was both modern and inviting.

Snacks and various food items were scattered across different tables, contributing to the communal feel.

As they settled, Lena, unable to contain her curiosity, turned to Maria with a mischievous glint in her eye.

"So, Maria, why were you following the medical staff to the infirmary? That unconscious boy seemed to catch your attention," she teased, a playful smile forming.

Maria chuckled, trying to downplay the situation. "Oh, I was just passing by, really. Didn't see much."

Sophia, chiming in with a grin, added, "Yeah, but was he cute though? Lena seems to think so!"

Amidst the banter, Emily quipped, "Alright, alright, let's not make this a daily quiz show, guys. We've got an introduction session to go through!"

The playful exchange continued, the air filled with laughter and witty remarks as they eagerly awaited the commencement of the Paragons' introductory session, their senses alive with the futuristic aura and the mingling aromas of coffee and various snacks.

The classroom was abuzz with the excited chatter of students as they prepared for the upcoming session.

Suddenly, the door swung open with a forceful-

BANG!

Which caused hundreds of heads to turn in unison.

Into the room dashed a boy, his disheveled black hair in stark contrast to his hurried appearance.

He wore a crumpled white shirt, evidence of a rushed morning, paired with roughly pressed trousers and polished shoes.

His intense black eyes scanned the room with a sense of urgency.

Amidst the sudden commotion, Maria's heart skipped a beat as she recognized him.

"Aito?"

Her thoughts echoed in her mind, a mixture of surprise and recognition flooding her thoughts.

As whispers of excitement spread among the girls, Maria couldn't help but feel a warmth spread across her cheeks.

Her mind raced, attempting to gather her thoughts amidst the unexpected rush of emotions.

Nearby, one of the girls whispered, "Yeah, he's pretty cute."

Chairs scraped against the floor as students turned to catch a glimpse of the boy, the whirlwind of his entrance adding a flurry of movement and energy to the room.

The lingering rush of wind from the forcefully opened door created a momentary pause in the otherwise bustling atmosphere.

As the boy dashed up the stairs towards table 406, Maria felt her cheeks flush even more, a mix of embarrassment and surprise washing over her.

"He probably doesn't recognize me, since I changed my hair color," she thought,

The scent of a strong perfume wafted through the air, catching Maria off guard.

Aito's scent triggered a memory, and she couldn't help but recall a certain incident at the park.

Her hand subconsciously moved to touch her lips, a reflex action from that particular moment, causing her cheeks to deepen in their rosy hue.

One of the girls shot Maria a teasing look, silently mocking her blush, which elicited laughter from the rest of the group.

Maria couldn't help but chuckle nervously, trying to conceal her flustered state.

Suddenly, the door creaked open, drawing everyone's attention to the male teacher who entered the room with an air of authority.

He was dressed impeccably in professional teaching attire, exuding confidence and knowledge.

"Welcome, future Paragons," the teacher greeted warmly, his voice projecting across the classroom.

The teacher's entrance signified the start of the session, bringing a sense of focus and attention to the classroom.

Despite Maria's fluttering emotions, the teacher's presence commanded respect and readiness for what lay ahead.
