Chapter 28 - Chapter 26: First day at Nexus Academy

Alex headed towards his first class, feeling a little nervous because of his previous bad reputation in the school in his previous world. While he knew that everything would be different here because he had a chance at a new start.

Reaching class, he entered and saw most of the students were present. They were chatting happily and discussing their holidays.

As soon as the students spotted Alex, there was silence in the class for a moment. Alex started to feel creeped out and wondered.

"Why are they all staring at me like that?"

Soon, the class erupted in heated discussion. I overheard them speaking about my speech the previous day and my status as a special student etc etc.

Feeling embarrassed from all this talk, I looked around to find an empty seat and quickly headed to the back right of the class where no one was sitting currently.

After sitting down, I heaved a sigh of relief and enjoyed the feeling of being alone. But it was pretty short-lived because soon two boys came and sat to my left.

The slightly chubby one sitting next to me said,

"Hi, My name is Zhou Feng, from Thulheim."

Looking at him, he seemed to be a bit Russian and Chinese at the same time. He had blond hair, black eyes, and extremely white skin, not to the point of being sickly, just pure white.

The bulky one sitting across from Zhou Feng started to introduce himself.

"My name is Lukas Glut, from Eldoria."

Unlike Zhou Feng, who was around the same height as me, Lukas had green eyes and red hair. He was also a bit tanned but looked pretty cool with his muscles.

Zhou Feng started to speak,

"I saw the video of your speech, you sure said some heroic words. Also being the headmaster's disciple, you must be pretty strong."

Feeling shy, Alex responded,

"Haha, it's nothing. I didn't know what to say, so I came up with most of the stuff from stories I read and related them with my situation."

Zhou Feng continued,

"Well, you don't have to explain, Most of the students think you might be better off in the military, but they have to stay shut cause your Master is the headmaster of Nexus."

We three chatted and I started to feel at ease with them. Looking around, I kind of had the feeling that they were sitting here to get to know me. But I didn't mind.

After about 5 minutes of chatting, the teacher arrived in class.

She started with her introduction,

"Well Hello, students. My name is Emilia Friedrich. I will be your magic theory instructor."

She then grabbed a wand from her pocket and started explaining, Looking around some of the students were clearly ready to take notes.

"Let's begin by unraveling the fundamental essence of magic: mana. Mana, my eager students, is the very energy that courses through the veins of our world. It emanates from the very planet beneath our feet, as well as every living and non-living object around us. Picture it as a river of potential, a river that we, as mages, can tap into and channel. It is this mana that fuels our spells, ignites the flames of our incantations, and brings life to the art of crafting artifacts. Today you will understand the interconnection between mana and your intent, to master the delicate relationship through which we can cast the spells you all currently use..."

The lecture went on for an hour with much of it being what I have read in the books the headmaster gave me. But learning from a teacher always has its benefits, their unique insights, a wide range of knowledge, and the ability to correlate between different things, in addition to demonstrating the real-life use of the various titbits of knowledge.

After the class, I needed to head towards three more classes, spell casting, basic knowledge of artifact refining, and basic knowledge of array formation. The schedule was stuffed with almost no break.

First came spellcasting which took another hour, The instructor was a bulky dwarf, far from the image of a mage in my head, but he did provide some useful tips on how to improve the spell strength and shorten the time taken to charge the spell, which while useful did not have much of a boost for me at this point. Coming out of class, I went to the cafeteria following the map on the myst-link.

After quickly wolfing down the lunch, I sped towards my next class the basic knowledge of array formation, and then came the basic knowledge of artifact refining, each of which took about 2 hours. They were interesting but as I confirmed earlier with the headmaster, he intends for me to learn some of the basic knowledge of the crafts, to make me more familiar with this world's technology and weapons and other stuff. There is no need for me to go in-depth and practice them for now, the sole goal for me is to become stronger.

After the classes, I went to my house. The time was approaching 6 in the evening, so I ordered some food, except for some light meals between the classes, I had not had any proper meal.

"I wonder what the headmaster has planned for me on the weekdays."

----

Similar to the first day, the classes on the other days were also more theoretical-based. I got to meet Sia every day in the evening after the first day. I also made friends with the two boys I met on the first day, Zhou Feng and Lukas Glut. All in all, the experience at this university was not so bad.
