Chapter 8 - Chapter 7 SHIELD

POV Phil Coulson

Agent Coulson had been watching this guy for a week. Something was just not right about him, and he was determined to find out what it was. He briefed his boss and Director Fury, knowing that Coulson would not be this worried over nothing, giving him the OK to investigate this guy.

First he makes his way to New York and makes contact with The Fantastic Four luckily they have had Reeds lab bugged since that time he almost released an invasion on New York while trying to see if he could open a door to another world. This Pseudo GN Drive sounded promising maybe they could use it on the helicarrier and if the other blueprints that were shown were just as good then the kid was too much of a variable and SHIELD needed to make contact.

While following him, he saw the meeting with Cobblepot and overheard about the new ID. The kid then went into Stark International before going back to the motel. That night, Coulson contacted Fury and explained everything that had gone down. Fury became interested and said that they would make contact tomorrow.

The next day, Coulson followed Mike Yamato as he was calling himself to a property about an hour out of New York and saw him enter a building that looked like it hadn't been used in years. He waited for Director Fury, and just as Fury arrived, Mike emerged from the building. "We meet again Mr Yamato. We need to talk."

POV Mike

(What is SHIELD doing here?) Mike was panicking a little on the inside. Fury was one of the most powerful men on the planet, and while he generally does good, he is not above getting his hands dirty to make a point.

"Good to see you again, Mr Coulson. How can I be of assistance today? Also, who is your associate?" Mike replied, trying to play it cool.

"I'm Director Fury of SHIELD. We need to have a talk." Fury's tone brooked no argument. With that, Mike said, " Sure, but I'm afraid the building is not in the best of shape. I saw a few office chairs, though, so would you like to have a seat?"

POV Fury

So this was the kid that had my best agent running all over the US for the past week. Hmph, if it wasn't for the fact his power system was good enough to excite Reed Richards and Tony Stark, I wouldn't even consider meeting him. "Mr Yamato, I have recently heard you developed a unique engine and was hoping you would be willing to work for SHIELD to further develop it." Fury began trying to recruit the kid. Mike responded, " I appreciate the offer, but I prefer to run my own company than work for anyone."

" Mr Yamato, I don't believe you understand, " Agent Coulson began, " We have you for identity theft falsifying government documents and other crimes. We can make it go away. You just need to work with us." Fury glanced at Coulson." This is why I said I would make contact if his inventions can do half of what the report claims, and then they needed to be on this kids' good side. Blackmail really?) Before Fury could say anything, Mike responded. "Really, and how was this evidence gathered? Only 2 people knew about the Pseudo GN Drives, and I highly doubt that a judge would order the wireless surveillance of either of them. What law could you reasonably say? I broke in such a manner that you wouldn't have to break multiple laws to find out about. Fruit of the tainted tree Gentleman, if that's all, please direct correspondence through my lawyers."

Fury was sweating. " That won't be necessary. Instead of working directly for me, how about a partnership?" Mike hesitated while Coulson pissed him off with the threat. Fury had a point with almost bottomless budget. SHIELD could be a very profitable partner.

"What did you have in mind? " Mike asked

We will ensure that the ID you got from Cobblepot is official, no one will investigate you, you help with consultations of a scientific manner and a discount when this business of yours gets off the ground. Also, we want a shield observer in your company." Fury laid out his conditions.

POV Mike

(Humph, I thought Coulson would have better people skills than that he must have thought me an easily scared kid. Fury, though, what's his game? Even with an observer, this deal is heavily in my favor. Despite my bluff, if they brought it to court, I would have a hard time. Not like I have a choice, though) Mike stood up and shook Fury's hand. "You have yourself a deal, sir,"

With that, their meeting came to a close, and Fury and Coulson left to deal with other matters promising their agent to be by soon.
