Mike heard a knock on his door. "The UN sent a mediator, and the US representative arrived both are waiting in the conference room." Brand said.

She had been nervous she may work for Mike now and be commander of Orb military, but she still did not want to go to war against her homeland.

"I'm on my way, thank you." Mike replied

As he went to the conference room, he stopped. "Fury?" He asked, "You're the representative?"

Fury cracked an awkward smile. "No, I'm just here to smooth things over. They seemed to think with us being friends that I could help talk you out of war. The representative is over there." He said, pointing to the corner of the room. Vice President Rodriguez was standing their with a few secret service agents nearby. Fury then led Mike over and introduced the two. To his credit, Rodriguez was polite and professional. (Hopefully, this Rodriguez isn't the traitor who helped AIM) Mike thought.

The representative from the UN was a middle-aged black man that Mike didn't recognize. It wasn't till he introduced himself that Moke realized just how serious the UN was taking these peace talks. "Kofi Annan UN Secretary General, pleasure to meet you," He said as he introduced himself.

"Pleasure is all mine, sir," Mike replied, "I appreciate you taking time out of your day to help with this."

"Are we ready to begin then?" Rodriguez asked.

"Not quite, sir. I have a shuttle arriving shortly with my lawyer on board,"Mike answered before the door swung open, and Matt Murdock entered. "Ah, here he is now."

With that, they sat at the conference room table to begin negotiations. Mike informed them that they were free to have recordings of the negotiations and that Orb would be recording the entire process. Both Rodriguez and Annan agreed to this.

"Both parties agree to peace talks before any escalation of force with myself as a mediator, correct?" Annan said to put it on record officially

"To start, the US is denying any knowledge of the rogue actions of one of our officials." Rodriguez stated. "We do, however, acknowledge that we should have been aware and are willing to pay 5 million dollars in reparations."

"I would appreciate it if you could at least be more believable. According to Orb intelligence, these criminals were part of a ill conceived black ops codenamed task force X." Mike replied, voice growing cold. "Beleive me, you don't want what our investigation found going public. It will ruin most of your international relations, not to mention the damage it will do to you domestically."

"Don't threaten me, boy." Rodriguez said in a slightly threatening tone.

"Enough," Annan interrupted, "We are here to negotiate peace. Please don't make threatening or inflammatory remarks while we are at the table."

He said, glancing at both parties.

"Then could you ask him to at least not lie?" Mike said, "Also I came to this table in good faith as head of state of the Orb Union, he can either recognize that and treat me with the same respect shown to any other head of state or he can leave."

Annan nodded. He agreed that Rodriguez was out of line with the way he had addressed Mike. "What are your conditions for peace?" He asked Mike.

Mike turned to Matt. They had a conference call last night and established a list of conditions.

1. Amanda Waller is to be handed over to face trial by Orb Court.

2. Upon capture, all involved with the attack are also to be handed over.

3. US is to allow an independent investigator from the UN to inspect to insure Cadmus and Task force X were shut down.

4. Three uninhabited islands in the Pacific that Orb was negotiating buying from the US were to be transferred to Orb, and the Morgonrote complex was to be given the same diplomatic protection as an embassy.

5. They were to hand over all technology and data that was in their possession obtained during the attack.

"Those are unreasonable!" Rodriguez exclaimed. "Why should we agree to those conditions. We can agree to the embassy and islands, but Waller should be tried on US soil, same as those criminals. Also, why should we let a UN inspector into a top secret project, the 3ven one that has been shut down."

"Simple, you assured me the last time one of your people over reached that you would handle it. athe time before that as well. I want an independent source to verify that you are complying." Mike answered easily.

"We can only return 1 of the zaku. The others were stolen by task force x." Rodriguez then stated.

Mike glanced at Fury, who looked him in the eye, nodding. "Shield has the 1 suit not stolen. We have been keeping it untouched waiting on you." Fury answered the unspoken question.

Mike nodded, "Then if any suit or tech is recovered, they are to be handed over to us."

Annan agreed, "That is fair. The tech belongs to your country."

Rodriguez tried to throw his weight at this but was cut off by Annan, "The US is in the wrong here."

"Fine, but we get to keep the criminals when found they will stand trial by our courts." Rodriguez attempted to at least get something.

Mike and Matt spoke backend forth for a few minutes. "No, however, we are willing to have the international war crime court conduct the trial."

Annan agreed with the suggestion and looked at Rodriguez. "Fine," Rodriguez snapped, looking like he bit into something sour. The US was unable to save any face in this and was facing pressure internationally. With that, the negotiations ended, and things at least for now returned to normal
