Not far from their campsite on the island was a mountain that had caught the eye of Xia Xin and Jing Mo. They had decided to venture up its slopes to get a better understanding of their surroundings.
When they'd first disembarked from the ferry, they'd thought it was just another low-altitude mountain. However, up close, they found it imposing, its summit hidden from sight. Mist veiled the forest on its slopes, causing both of them to instinctively furrow their brows.
'It's dangerous,' Xia Xin immediately thought.
"We shouldn't go into the mountains. It's not safe," Jing Mo warned, gripping Xia Xin's arm and pulling her back.
"Where do you live?" Xia Xin asked the wolf pup.
The wolf pup let out a couple of mournful howls, a note of sadness reverberating in its voice.
"What's the matter?" Jing Mo inquired.
