Chapter 8 - Childhood Friends

Ji Shuya's face turned pale. She bit her lip and looked at Han Xiaoye with a hurt expression. Then, she forced a smile, "Xiao Ye, you don't have to treat me as a tutor. I'm just an elder sister helping you with your homework."

Han Xiaoye didn't even turn her head. She directly retorted, defiantly taking the newspaper away from Fu Zhiyan and not letting him ignore her. "I said I don't want a tutor."

"Shuya is a top student at Columbia University. It will be much easier for you if she teaches you." Fu Zhiyan stated matter-of-factly.

He called her so intimately!

Han Xiaoye's previously good mood vanished. With an annoyed expression, she said, "I can learn on my own!"

"Oh?"

Fu Zhiyan unbuttoned the cuff of his shirt sleeve and casually rolled it up.

"Do you think you can raise your total score to 300 within a week?"

300!

Was Fu Zhiyan out of his mind?

She had only scored 59 points so far! There was a vast difference between 59 and 300, like the difference between opposite sides of the Sahara Desert!

"You can't do it?" His long legs crossed casually as he leaned in and looked directly into the girl's eyes.

"..."

It was highly unlikely, but she didn't want that Shuya to teach her. What did she mean by emphasizing that they were childhood friends the moment she came? She even fed Fu Zhiyan an apple and pretended to be magnanimous. She knew Ji Shuya was looking at her with contempt. If she didn't like her, there was no need to pretend.

She liked what she liked, and she disliked what she disliked. She didn't like Ji Shuya, so she wouldn't pretend otherwise.

"Anyway, I don't need a tutor."

Han Xiaoye pouted in frustration, her big eyes full of stubbornness.

"I'm tired, I'm going upstairs to sleep."

Without waiting for Fu Zhiyan to say anything, she hurriedly ran upstairs. After a moment, she stuck half of her head out from the staircase.

"By the way, Uncle, experts say men should eat fewer apples. It can lead to impotence."

After saying that, as if afraid of being scolded by the person below, she slammed the door shut.

...

Ji Shuya's face turned pale and ashen, unsure whether to hold onto the apple in her hand or put it down. She could only force a smile.

"Xiaoye doesn't seem to like me very much."

"Yeah," Fu Zhiyan's lips curved with a smile as he picked up the newspaper again. "She's straightforward in her personality."

Ji Shuya's nails sank into the apple. So Han Xiaoye didn't like her because she was straightforward? Fu Zhiyan's words were like slapping her in the face. It was the first time he did this. And he did it for the sake of a niece who had suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

Ji Shuya forced a calm tone, put down the apple, and said gently, "Brother Zhiyan, what should we do about tutoring Xiaoye? I've already prepared the materials, but Xiaoye's grades... don't look optimistic. She's so willful. Even if she doesn't like me, she should at least consider you. You've already made an agreement with the homeroom teacher to check her grades in two weeks. If her grades don't improve, it will reflect badly on you..."

Fu Zhiyan looked up and gave her a deep glance.

Ji Shuya was startled by the warning in his eyes, and the words she wanted to say were stuck in her throat.

Fu Zhiyan withdrew his gaze and calmly folded the newspaper, placing it on the table.

"Shuya, that's my business, you've crossed the line."

Since when did Han Xiaoye's affairs become Fu Zhiyan's affairs?

Ji Shuya felt as if she had been slapped in the face again. Her mouth moved, her face turned pale, and she murmured, "Brother Zhiyan, I'm not..."

"Alright, leave the documents here. It seems that the subsidiary of the Ji family has financial issues. Go back and tell uncle that I will take care of it, he can rest assured." Fu Zhiyan interrupted her.

That was his response for her effort in organizing the documents. Well, he was indeed a man who knew how to distinguish between gratitude and resentment, and he was both passionate and ruthless to the extreme!

Ji Shuya tugged at the corners of her mouth but couldn't force a smile. However, she understood this man's character very well and didn't make a scene. She quietly took out the documents from her bag and placed them on the table, then elegantly smiled as she stood up.

"Brother Zhiyan, I'll take my leave now. My grandfather's birthday is coming up, so please make sure to attend."

Fu Zhiyan nodded slightly.

Ji Shuya slung her bag over her shoulder and walked out of the villa. As soon as she stepped out of the villa, her gentle smile disappeared, and she clenched her nails coated with delicate nail polish into her flesh.

Han... Xiaoye!

She pursed her lips, a flash of danger passing through her eyes. Hmph, once she dealt with Fu Zhiyan and became his wife, she would slowly take care of this little brat!

...

"I hate hypocrisy the most!"

In the room, Han Xiaoye was lying on the bed, rolling around in frustration. Suddenly, she sat up again.

If she came up, wouldn't that give that pretentious woman a chance to be alone with Fu Zhiyan?

Imagining scenes of the man and woman downstairs whispering sweet nothings to each other, Han Xiaoye couldn't help but curl her lips in disdain.

No way! What if that woman managed to convince Fu Zhiyan? She didn't want a hypocrite to be her teacher.

Han Xiaoye bounced up and quickly opened the door, ready to rush out and see what was happening downstairs.

"Bang!"

As soon as she stepped out, she collided with a solid chest, and the impact almost sent her flying. Fortunately, the person was quick to catch her waist, pulling her into his arms, and saving her from a disastrous fall.

"Why are you running so fast?" the man spoke, his chest subtly undulating. Han Xiaoye pressed against his chest, able to hear his strong heartbeat.

She hurriedly broke free from the embrace, creating a three-step distance, and lowered her head, clearly lying, "No... nowhere, I'm not going anywhere."

She couldn't possibly say that she was going to catch them in the act, right?

Afraid of being questioned, Han Xiaoye quickly changed the topic, "Why are you here? Where is that Shuya?"

"She left," Fu Zhiyan smoothed her disheveled hair, led her into the room, pulled out a chair, and sat down. "If you don't like her, she won't come again."

"Really?"

Han Xiaoye's eyes lit up.

"Yes, but why do you dislike her? You haven't even met her before, have you?"

Fu Zhiyan casually asked, his gaze falling on the neatly stacked pajamas on the bed. The little prince and rose on the pajamas looked exceptionally beautiful. His impeccably refined features softened a bit.

He looked up and was about to ask her if she liked the clothes in the wardrobe. The little girl, who had turned from anger to joy just now, stood there in a daze as if she had encountered a difficult problem. Why did she need a reason not to like someone? Wasn't it enough if they didn't click?

"Han Xiaoye."

"..."

When had Mr. Fu of Rui City ever been ignored like this? He raised an eyebrow, reached out, and grabbed the wrist of the absent-minded girl, pulling her into his arms with force.

"Ah!"

Han Xiaoye exclaimed, barely supporting herself on the man's knee. Startled, her small face turned red, and her deer-like eyes widened.

Fu Zhiyan's breath hurried, and his invasive gaze traveled from her flushed cheeks to her shapely chest. The girl was now wearing a loose white T-shirt, and as she bent over, her hands resting on his knee, he could see most of her upper body...
