He had it at last - a very strong lead as to where Blaise was taken.
Lucien's mind raced. Something truly awful must be happening, and he couldn't fathom the depths of depravity that awaited Blaise. He turned back to the old man and asked, "Why won't the police investigate the matter? If evil things are always happening there."
The old man leaned in, his voice a mere whisper. "The police won't go near the Hotel Obsidian. They're either paid off or it's too dangerous for them."
Lucien's unease grew. It was because there were vampires there... it was obvious now.
As he stood there, thinking, the old man warned him, "The Hotel Obsidian is a place of unspeakable horrors. Don't even think about going there."
Lucien couldn't really tell these men he was Blaise's friend. It might put Lucien under scrutiny, and be a source of unwanted gossip. "I see. Just curious about the rumors, not planning to go there."
