They now stood in Blaise's cool, dark room. Blaise hastily pushed the letters beneath a stack of books on his desk, evidently trying to hide them from Lucien. Lucien didn't know why; it wasn't like he was just going to grab them and read them. That seemed too cruel and invasive. Then, Blaise stood in front of his desk with his arms crossed, and shot an icy look at Lucien.

"You know you can't keep sending letters to Raphael if you want your mother to let you stay here, right?"

Blaise nodded, affecting a bored look. "Of course I know that, I'm not stupid. Mother isn't supposed to be going through my letters, though."

"I agree, that was inappropriate of her. But my guess is that she saw his penmanship on an envelope, or had some other reason to be suspicious. Are you willing to stop contacting him?"

"I already told you, I have to keep in contact with him in case my mother throws me out."

"She will throw you out of you keep sending letters though, especially letters like that."
