Chapter 8 - Trouble 3

Jian reluctantly sat down once again, but this time the atmosphere was more tense. The nun he was just surprised to see before had turned out to be someone he couldn't handle,  and he still didn't know about her.

"Boy, do you know what you have done? Do you know the consequences of your doing? If word gets out,  then most likely you will die; and not a pleasant death at that."

"Consequences? What are you talking about? I haven't done anything!"

"Oh, but you have,  you've done so much." said the nun as she brought op the metal part of the hoe to her face. " You may not understand,  but the thing you have forged is a great threat to some very powerful beings,  beings who would do everything in their power to kill you.  This is definite proof of it."

Jian at the hoe in the nun's hand , and cussed inside. ' What the hell,  someone is trying to kill me because of a hoe? Is she stupid,  or am I still in a dream?' Jian couldn't process what was happening to him. He was not ten minutes ago making something in the forge,  but now he was beeing pressured by a nun who was telling him that people were out to get him. It was absurd,  so Jian did the most logical thing he could do, he lied.

" I think you have got the wrong person. I am indeed Feng Jian,  but I'm certain that I have not made such a thing. "

"You have not?" the nun raised her eyebrow " Then , I've seem to have made a mistake, but are you really sure you haven't made this hoe?"

"I already told you I haven't! You have just made a mistake."

"Amitabha Buddha...I see,  so you haven't made this?"

"For the final time , I haven't!" Jian finally snapped and couldn't hold it in anymore, his voice scaring the birds nearby. The non thought didn't seem to be bothered at all and she just smiled.

"I didn't expect someone like you to be lying so casually,  but I guess that there are limitations on what was passed on. "

"Excuse me, what are talking about? Why aren't you making any sense? "

She didn't answer and only put her hands in prayer. As soon as she did that a pulse of golden energy spread around with her as the center, immediately calming Jian's nerves,  but also making him surprised. The feeling he had just experienced,  he had felt it before.' THE SUTRA'S....

"You felt that, right? That was just an expulsion of devine energy, something only a 'cultivator' can do?"

As soon as they heard the word cultivator,  they both froze. It wasn't just a simple word   it was a title that held much power, and seemingly this nun was such.  The had thought that cultivators being more regal than this,  but it seems that that was not the truth.

"Such energy is only able to be used by one's talented enough,  dedicated enough and fortunate enough. With it they can accomplish great feats of greatness or great feats of destruction. It is a power that can change the history,  but surprisingly you are an exception.

I checked your meridians and clearly saw no signs of cultivation,  internal or external. You most likely have never practiced martial arts or cultivation in your life,  but your Vital Qi is brimming inside your body. It's quite the wonder...and then there is the matter of making this demon slaying 'hoe'.Something like that shouldn't be made by someone like you,  yet I has happened."

Jian's mind was racing a at top speed in order to process the words coming from the nun's mouth,  and he was able to get the gist of it. By using  the sutra's to make his life easier,  he had managed to reach something thought impossible.

"Usually,   someone well versed in the buddhist teachings would have to spend most of his life to learn to bring togethrr his soul,  Qi and Dao in perfect synchronization,  and then imbue it into a piece of metal to create something like this,  but you've done it without even trying.  If I was a ghost or demon cultivator,  I've would kill you without a thought."

".......

Jian was even more confused at the words she said,  hoping that it was just a prank, but she seemed serious. He didn't know much about the situation of cultivators or even much about their world,  and he didn't want to know. Unfortunately he seemed to have plunged himself neck deep into it.

...........

Another ten minutes passed and Jian had finally understood what was going on. He in his stupidity had made something that could repell ghosts and demon's to a certain extent ,  and some monk of the village had just happened to notice it. He had asked for the maker of the thing,  received Jian's name and then had reported it to a bigger temple. The nun before him Cui Suyin was the one who was sent to investigate,  and investigate she did. In no time she had found her target (Jian) and had confirmed some of her suspicions. He was indeed the maker of the hoe, so he was given two choices; to stay here and maybe be found out by a demonic cultivator and be killed , or move to the monastery of Triple Peek and work for the monastery.

"Are you sure that demonic cultivators, or ghosts will come looking for me? Can't I just stay hidden and not make anymore hoes and stuff. Then they can't find me."

"Amitabha Buddha...it's a possibility,  but do you want to risk it? Life is precious after all." calmly answered the nun , her smile irritating  Jian. He very much wanted to slap her bald head , but he knew it wouldn't end well.  He was a normal human , and she definitely was a cultivator.
