Steffan's expression turned cold as he stared at Dolly. "So you knew I was Lauren's fiancé before I lost my memory?" he repeated, his voice tight with disbelief.
Dolly's composure instantly slipped. "I… I … I didn't want to risk triggering a relapse, even Dr Sullivan was of the same opinion that you should be allowed to remember things naturally without forcing anything on you " Dolly stammered, "so I thought it was best…"
"In other words, you knew," Steffan interrupted, his voice dripping with contempt.
"You knew all along that I was in love with Lauren, that I planned to marry her, and yet you kept that from me? You tried to convince me I was making a mistake just now when I said I wanted to propose to her? Some friend you've turned out to be," he said bitterly.
