Chapter 35 - Sponsors

"Is everyone here?" Luke asked Shelly.

"Everyone is here. Regardless of whether they are planning to join the Security Department or not, they must give the Secret Intelligence Bureau face. However... we won't have an easy time in the future."

Shelly was pessimistic.

In the past, the Secret Intelligence Bureau and the Security Department had a certain tacit understanding of the interests of the docks. However, they did not expect that the Security Department would be so ruthless as soon as the Wild Axe Party was in trouble.

They looked like they wanted to drive the Secret Intelligence Bureau out of the dock.

Now the Security Department was threatening the Secret Intelligence Bureau's sponsors.

Even though the Secret Intelligence Bureau was strong enough to protect the Wild Axe Party, the lack of strength still made some sponsors plan for the future.

If the Secret Intelligence Bureau really lost the dock this time and was strangled by the Administrative Office of Wild Waves City, it would be better to find a ship and go out to sea as a sailor than to rely on the salary given by the General Administration.

They probably wouldn't be able to see such a leisurely day.

Could it be that they would have to extort peddlers for a living in the future?

While Shelly was looking worried, Luke threw her a bag and stood up to walk out.

"Take your things and follow me to meet our sponsors.

"I will take care of the Wild Axe Party!

"The dock... No one can snatch it away!"

"What is this?" Shelly wanted to open it, but when she saw that Luke had already walked out, she immediately picked up the bag and chased after him.

The meeting room on the third floor was filled with a foul atmosphere.

The big shots of the various forces who had accepted the invitation smoked and discussed what had happened at the headquarters of the Wild Axe Party.

"I think the Wild Axe Party can't hold on any longer. I heard that Black Jack spent a high price to invite all the sailors from Cape Harbor. There are thousands of them! If Giant Tree was still here, the Wild Axe Party would have been able to defend it. But now, with Lambert alone?

"Tomorrow, we'll see his head being kicked like a ball."

"The Security Department should have informed you guys, right? Director Hoult is very, very determined to get the dock. Our inspector has just taken office, so I'm afraid he won't be able to defeat Hoult."

"Don't tell me you're going to join the Security Department! No matter how the Security Department and the Secret Intelligence Bureau fight, the Secret Intelligence Bureau will always be here. Aren't you worried that the Secret Intelligence Bureau will look for you in the future?"

"Of course I'm afraid. I came because I was scared. Let's talk to Inspector Meteor about our difficulties. At most, we can give money to the Security Department and the Secret Intelligence Bureau.

"However, the amount of money could not be the same as before."

"Sigh... When the Security Department and the Secret Intelligence Bureau fight, the ones who suffer are the people who work for them. Not only do they have to pay, but they also have to sacrifice their lives.

"Do you know that someone posted a bounty for Bull Horned Demon Giant Tree in the Assassin Tavern? It was 5000 gold certificates.

"Just 5000 gold certificates killed more than 100 of the Wild Axe Party's experts. Adding on the deaths last night, our Cape District has lost almost 1,000 people!

"I don't know when it will end. I'm really afraid that I'll be the one being kicked in the head."

"Captain Hansenton, you have quite a bit of business at the port. What do you think of this?"

When someone said Hansenton's name, the others stopped talking and looked at a middle-aged man wearing a triangular sailing hat.

His skin was very rough due to the long years of sailing, and there was a scar on his face that looked like a centipede.

He was Captain Hansenton. He had a fleet under him, and the port he controlled was second only to the Wild Axe Party. His strength and influence became number 1 in this group after Giant Tree's death.

If everyone wanted to jump off the leaking ship of the Secret Intelligence Bureau, Captain Hansenton was undoubtedly the best person to negotiate with the inspector of the Secret Intelligence Bureau on behalf of everyone.

Captain Hansenton hadn't said anything since he entered the meeting room. Instead, he used his sharp eyes, which he had cultivated at sea, to observe everyone here.

Seeing everyone raise their heads, he slowly said, "Everyone, you should know very well how the Secret Intelligence Bureau treated us in the past. The Security Department can't take care of us like the Secret Intelligence Bureau.

"The Wild Axe Party helped you to earn money!

"Now that the Wild Axe Party is in trouble, are you prepared to watch them die? Inspector Meteor was able to protect the Wild Axe Party on his first day of office, why are you all in such a hurry to jump off the ship?

"We sailors are most afraid of working with people like you."

Captain Hansenton's words silenced the meeting room. Everyone smoked and thought about their own matters.

After a while, Pisco pushed open the door and shouted, "The inspector has arrived!"

Everyone in the meeting room quickly stood up and bowed to Luke. "Hello, Inspector Meteor."

"Alright, alright..." Luke waved at everyone enthusiastically. "Everyone sit down! We're all on the same side here, so there's no need to be so restrained..."

"Thank you, Inspector."

Luke greeted everyone warmly, then suddenly took out his gun and shot Captain Hansenton in the head.

Three more consecutive hits.

All the bullets went through his head, and Captain Hansenton died on the spot.

Everyone was stunned.

What was this?

Could it be... the Secret Intelligence Bureau gathered everyone here to silence them?

Shelly, who had been on the battlefield, reacted quickly. She took out her gun and aimed it at the people in the room. "Put your hands where I can see them."

Those who wanted to resist immediately raised their hands.

They all knew how powerful the Black Mamba was, and they also knew that Black Mamba dared to shoot.

Someone asked, "Inspector Meteor... We did not betray the Secret Intelligence Bureau. We are willing to do our best to support the Wild Axe Party."

Shelly controlled the situation and whispered to Luke, "Inspector, Captain Hansenton is one of us. He was the one who told me about the warning from Security Department.

"He also said that he would help us persuade these guys not to join the Security Department."

Luke put the pistol back into the holster and said to Pisco, who was standing at the door, "Move Captain Hansenton's body out of here. Then, bring some men to his dock to capture Doughty and Felix. Search the Lucky Princess and bring the safe under the tenth plank on the left of the captain's room."

"Yes, Inspector!" Pisco walked in and carried Hansenton's body out.

At this moment, a group of imperial secret agents rushed in after hearing the gunshots.

Luke asked the secret agents to leave before he smiled and said to the sponsors, "Everyone, don't be nervous. I killed Hansenton because he ordered the assassination of my former inspector.

"Pisco had already gone to get the evidence.

"Everyone, please take a seat. Let's get down to business.

"Black Mamba put your gun away."

"Yes, Inspector." Shelly put the gun back into the holster on her thigh and asked, "How do you know that it was Hansenton who killed the former inspector?"

"Through investigation, of course." Luke looked at the sponsors and said, "We don't have much time."

"Sit down!" Shelly shouted.

The sponsors quickly found seats and sat down. They all gathered at the other end of the conference table, and the closest one was four seats away from Luke.

No matter what the reason was, this new inspector had just come in and killed Hansenton. It really scared everyone.

After everyone sat down, Luke asked, "Whoever wants to jump off the ship can leave now."

The sponsors were crying.

In such a situation... nobody dared to leave even if they wanted!
