"What?" Damien mumbled in shock.
Looking at what was a man with golden hair, his face was so refined and handsome that it looked like it was structured by the gods.
The man had a perfect refined body that glistened under the ray of the sun. The most distinctive feature of this man who was formed from... The Phoenix was the two metres long orange flaming wings on his back that flapped gently.
Even with gentle flaps, Damien could feel extreme heat coming from the man.
The man finally opened his eyes and gazed at Damien who was below with an angry expression.
"Who brought me here?!" The man's voice resounded in Damien's head.
Damien didn't know the answer to that question, he only knew that the creature came out from a portal.
"I... I don't know."
The man looked at Damien sadly and a golden ray covered his hand before expanding before him.
In a second, a golden longsword was formed in the Phoenix's hand. This sword was over one metre long, it had a powerful aura that made Damien's body shudder.
All of Damien's senses were screaming at him to run but he couldn't move at all. It was as if he was being held.
"I guess I'll kill you first, then destroy your... Kingdom and then, I'll find a way to my home."
As the Phoenix said that, he dissappeared from where he was. Damien was stupified that the Phoenix was that fast and with his super eyesight he saw where the Phoenix went.
Raising his demon sword up a golden light clashed with his sword and sent him flying towards the open forest.
*Bam!*
Damien crashed into a tree and it broke in two. He looked up and didn't see the Phoenix anymore.
All of a sudden, fear gripped him and he felt a powerful pressure above him. The Phoenix that was above him came down with the golden sword.
Damien couldn't move, he just stood there and closed his eyes. He didn't want to die, he never even wanted the throne.
He only wanted it because his father told him that he can do anything when he is king. And small and crazy Damien actually wanted it to have all the beautiful women warm his bed.
Now look what it cost him!
*Clank*
Damien's hair fluttered as wind blew him from above. Looking up he saw... His brother holding a powerful looking sword, blocking the attack.
"GET OUT OF THE WAY!!"
Damien jumped forward as he heard Vernox and turned back.
... Vernox's POV...
After two days of riding and resting in the normal stopping places. Minova and Vernox finally reached the demon forest which was just a few kilometres away from the kingdom.
Surprisingly, this time they didn't meet any corrupted on their way and only a few low leveled beasts were encountered which Vernox dealt with easily.
But when they reached the demon forest, they were shocked as they saw fire have consumed almost half of the forest. The trees, most of them have been knocked down.
It looked like she kind of war ensued in the place.
*Bang!!*
Vernox saw a person fly and hit a tree, breaking it in half. Looking carefully he saw that it was his brother.
"What's going...?"
His words were halted as he felt a very powerful energy close by. He didn't know how he knew that that energy was powerful but he knew.
As he was in a daze he saw something flash towards Damien's head and he looked like he couldn't move.
Vernox immediately jumped off the horse towards Damien, stunning Minova.
Just as Vernox predicted, a sword flashed and came down towards Damien's head. Vernox summoned his demon sword as he ran a little and used his strength to jump towards the light.
He became a blur as he too reached Damien in a second.
*Clank!*
He blocked the sword and he was still in the air. He put his leg on the half broken tree that was in front of Damien.
"GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!" Vernox shouted. He couldn't think of anything else other than saving his brother. He didn't even look at the foe which he was defending himself from.
Before he could even turn around he felt the air leave his body as a fist connected to his stomach.
*Bang!!!*
A loud sound resounded in the surroundings as Vernox was sent flying towards his brother.
"Vernox!" Damien shouted as he caught his brother.
"Argh! I see you have made trouble again." Vernox mumbled while straightening himself.
Damien smiled at Vernox's remark.
Among them brothers, Damien was the playful and troublesome one while Vernox was the smart and talented one.
Even amidst their differences, they both loved each other very much. Even if Vernox wasn't the original one, the feelings and memories that Vernox and Damien shared felt very real and the new Vernox still held all those memories.
Looking forward the brothers saw the Phoenix man smiling and looking at them amusingly.
"Demons and humans are not so different after all."
"Don't you dare compare us to those animals!" Damien retorted, his voice and expression beaming with rage.
"Brother..."
Damien turned around and saw Vernox walking towards him.
"... let's take down this creature together. Let's fight side by side... Together."
Hearing Vernox Damien smiled and gripped his sword as he walked to Vernox's side.
"Alright!"
The Phoenix monarch just smiled excitedly as he knew that the fight to come will be... Legendary.
