Chereads / Only I Am The Death Lord / Chapter 30 - 30. TWO ALTARS

Chapter 30 - 30. TWO ALTARS

It was an insult to call it an expansive land. The range of terrain included desert, snow plains, mountains, wastelands, jungles, and other environments that were awe-inspiring to all of the Heads and their armies.

Zachery even heard Auset exclaim in awe at the vastness of the realm.

"A realm that seems to have a mind of its own, resources that are nigh exhaustible, Paths to cultivate that aren't even fully accounted for... Is... Is this our conquest, Lord?" Alecna looked at Zachery as if she were a young child waiting for her father to give her her favorite treat.

No, every single one of them had the same expression as Alecna, but the rest of them were just better at hiding it.

Zachery nodded as he looked around the palace at everyone, and a smile started to spread on his lips.

"The inhabitants are fighting amongst themselves for what they can get more of, and the Dimensional Race is unyielding in their quest to destroy the Omniverse." Zachery softly placed his right leg on top of his left leg and rested his head on his hand. All the while his smile never leaving his face the entire time like a stubborn leech.

"Doesn't it seem like the Verse is screaming for us?" That was all it took for the undead's undying heart to beat one more time.

A conquest so high that it fit their status!

A noble cause that they would burn their undying flame for!

Every single Undead had their eyes blazed about as they saw the projection of Axis like how a predator would to a prey.

-----------------------------

Zachery stooped at a crossroads and walked along another almost identical hallway.

Cornelius took the lead and walked to the left, and after a while, they came face to face with a massive metal with images that seemed to tell a story.

A seemingly normal zombie was traveling through the plains on the left side of the door when a storm came in the direction of the undead.

The storm was strange, a tempest of warped features and hollowed-out eyes. In Axis, this was referred to as Soul Storm, according to Zachery. When there is a large amount of death and anger in one area, a Soul storm occurs, where the Undead thrive.

The zombie seems to have passed through the Soulstorm and emerged as some sort of a divine entity. The zombie's hunched back straightened, the torn skin grew shiny, and it ascended to the sky.

The same type of zombie was traveling through a battlefield packed with dead on the right side of the door. The zombie then began to eat the corpses, like any zombie would.

The depictions that followed showed that the zombie had seemingly cleared out the whole battlefield, with only bones littering the ground.

Like the previous zombie, its slumped back straightened after a plentiful meal and emanated a god-like illumination. Then it rose to the heavens.

Zachery simply shook his head and signaled for Cornelius to unlock the door. Soulstorms were lethal threats that were even more powerful than nuclear warheads. Even a zombie with the strongest affinity for death energy would disintegrate when caught in a Soul storm.

And zombies eating flesh to have a clear path to ascendance. That was also incorrect. It was true that flesh strengthened a zombie bloodline, but it didn't mean it was to the point of dominance.

If that was the case, then everyone would be changing their race to zombies'.

The tall metal door opened and it revealed what lay behind.

It was an altar.

To be specific, it was two altars.

The dreadful chill that caused Zachery's hair to stand on end, as well as the level of aura that the two altars possessed was simply baffling.

"This is the first set of inheritance that Hel had ordered me to give to the successor, My Lord," Cornelius said. Zachery appeared to nod absentmindedly in response.

Zachery was so taken with the elaborate artwork on the tops of those two altars that he didn't know how to grade the two artifacts that were on top of the altar.

Zachery went forward slowly, the weight of whatever was on top was the altar building on his body. But Zachery seemed to ignore the pressure, completely engrossed in the art that the Altar held.

Just when Zachery appeared to be ignoring the pressure like a true protagonist. Cornelius screamed, "My Lord!!"

When Zachery stared at the altars, he was jolted out of his trance and sucked in a chilly breath.

Whatever was on top of that altar was too high leveled for the current Zachery to connect with, so he gave Cornelius an appreciative expression, realizing that the aura he was engulfed in was Cornelius' aura.

He proceeded with caution, making certain that he was within Cornelius' sphere of influence.

He climbed the stairs carefully, disregarding the pressure with the help of Cornelius, as middle-class characters do. Zachery drew another frigid breath when he could see clearly over the altars.

There were two books.

But Zachery was well-versed in the goings-on behind the scenes. Zachery had concluded that whatever was on top of the altars were artifacts since they were more likely to develop intent when their rank exceeded normalcy's ranks.

But when a book, like the volumes Zachery held in front of him, created an intent. They meant completely different things. Only when a book reaches the level of reality breaking does it have an intent.

But, at least according to Zachery, that was only a theoretical point of view. For a book to generate an intent, excluding the author, who should be a top powerhouse, what the book includes within itself should be law-bending.

It should be as law-bending as a technique that allows you to grow stronger simply by eating... Exactly like the portrayals of the door...

Zachery's pupils widened as he realized the gravity of the situation. He grasped both volumes gently and looked at them with quivering palms.

Zachery's left hand held an ominous crimson red book, while his right hand held a cheerful verdant green book. However, when he attempted to read the title of the book, he was halted by the title.
