I was able to restrain my anxious trembling as I stared at the thing in front of me. As I watched the creature open its saw-like mouth and nudge forward to bite off a piece of my head, I surrendered myself to my fate.
*THUMP**THUMP**THUMP*
Suddenly, I could hear a steady beating sound approaching my behind. Before the creature could snap my head off, my former aggressor intervened to my rescue.
Eli, who was suddenly an enormous woman with bulging biceps, grabbed the creature's face as though it were a toy and rushed down the long, pitch-black hallway's gloom.
I saw the fast strides of Eli holding the white creature and disappearing into the blackness.
I sighed in deep relief as I looked at the white gooeyness that was previously the 'white wall' in front of me.
The filth was clinging to the walls and writhing continually. My best assumption was that the white creature had the power to create these "white walls" that it could pass through unimpeded.
Anyway, thinking about the creature's abilities was pointless. I made small, steady progress while looking at my map.
No one knew when Eli would book a 'date' with me again...
I squinted because I could feel the virus becoming more active inside of my head. Initially, I was not this humorous. I inhaled deeply and steadied myself before moving ahead.
I took each step in the dark as the metal creaked with each of the steps. I knew the reason why too, it was because of the virus.
My body was being transformed into a higher form as the virus took control of my head. The size and density of the muscles were also increasing.
I was not turning into a giant like Eli but I was turning into a more explosive and destructive version of my previous self.
To put it into perspective, if I could fully control the muscles in my right arm and hit a bear hard without holding back, I could punch a straight hole through it.
And the transformation was not showing any signs of ending.
After an undetermined number of heart-pounding steps, I arrived at the door that would take me to my destination.
But the odd thing was... I was hearing weird sounds behind the door.
*FRWOP**FRWOP**FRWOP*
I scowled and held off on opening the door. I opened the door despite knowing full well that what was behind would severely tax my mental health.
I shouldn't have done that...
What I see before me was pure and utter torture.
When I opened the door, I saw a number of living beings of various races lined up at the ends of the room.
Several beings of all races were arranged in a queue, and while one side of my heart felt absolute hate and repulsion at the sight of them, the other side observed the situation with cold normality.
The virus was taking control fast.
Each living being in front of me had a 'thing' on their face that was humping on their face.
The 'thing' was a black spider-like creature that was tightly wrapped around their face as they furiously humped their 'hosts' like it was some competition for them.
I observed some of them twitching after a while and their hosts gurgling and continuing to hump after enveloping their hosts' faces even tighter with their legs.
The 'hosts' were groaning and some screaming.
As I continued to march forward in the midst of this macabre festival, I closed my eyes and my heart to their plight. I stared forward as I stepped on the nearly flesh-like floor.
There were all kinds of things that were abhorrent for a feeble human like me to watch. I saw a number of eggs that had this black spider incubating in them.
When I first saw the humping of the black spiders, it didn't make sense. But now seeing the egg of this damn creature, I was close to vomiting.
It had this long lube-like structure on the underside of its body that...
I gritted my teeth as I looked forward, ignoring all the instincts of my body saying to light this place on fire and die with it for witnessing such a scene.
As I watched many races being exposed to this cruelty, I gently moved forward. In between the spider legs, I noticed an elf woman staring at me with blank eyes.
I saw an orc man looking at me with the same blank eyes as I walked by them.
The reason why these spider-like creatures were not interested in me was because I was the same race as them.
Devourers.
These creatures were one of the most terrifying creatures that had ever existed in the Omniverse.
They were like the natural 'cleaners' of the Omniverse. They made sure to keep every single race in check.
They made every race's life difficult.
There were multiple 'cleaner' races in this Omniverse, but Devourers were one of the most powerful ones that had persisted throughout the beginning of the Omniverse.
And I was turning into one of them.
X-12 was one of the byproducts of Infect-strain Devourer which were far more lethal to civilizations.
X-12 was a virus that turn a normal race into one of Devoures, their strength based on their potential.
That was the reason why Eli was so much stronger than me.
She was almost like the mother of untapped potential.
These spider creatures were also Devourers whose only job was to reproduce.
The scene of multiple spider-like creatures humping the face of multiple beings and the bulging of the stomach of certain beings cleared all doubt about their reproduction process.
I moved ignoring all of this, but everything came to a grinding halt as I saw one of the newborn critters looking at me with a curious expression.
I stopped as I gulped, looking at the spider-like creature's 8 eyes fixating on me. After a dreadful moment, the critter did what he had been born in this world to do.
The critter lunged at me with newfound vigor, but the claws from my knuckles put the critter to its end.
All the 'spiders' stopped what they were doing and turned to face me with threatening eyes after witnessing one of their own die at the hands of an "outsider".
I flicked the critter that was hanging on my left-hand claws and spang open the claws in my right hand and brought it close to my next to my neck.
The meaning was clear...
If you duckers even think about changing hosts, I am going to ducking die.
With that, everyone went to their own process and I moved as I gulped down my sheer terror and anxiety.
I thanked my luck as I opened the exit door. I heaved a big sigh of relief when I saw that I was out of the room of endless suffering and hell.
I locked the door behind me as I looked forward, I gulped again.
This World's Core was right in front of me.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////
Being a Devourer doesn't mean you are absolutely free from hostility, that was the reason why the little critter lunged itself onto our MC.
I think there is one more chapter and we will end the intro of our story!!!
I hope you all enjoy the rest of what I release and support me as much as you can. That's all!!!
Bye! Bye!
