Chapter 17 - 17. SERVANTS

"Alecna, Mind your manners and greet your master respectfully!" The 'old guy' yelled at 'Alecna' seeing she was making their sovereign uncomfortable.

"Humph! Cornelius! Don't command me like I am your servant! Just because my master has given you the authority of a Sovnar doesn't mean that you could command us like our Sovereign!" Alecna, the horned lady harrumphed as her aura flared up.

The aura that encircled her had no elemental affinity, but the mere surging aura was enough to fracture the invincible black marble that she was standing on.

Nonetheless, she stepped back and kept an appropriate distance from Zachery.

Zachery let out an inward sigh of relief and thanked the old man for his prompt assistance.

"Master! The rest of your servants are waiting for your arrival! Let us go to the Orchid Table of Death!" As various auras blazed around different portions of the castle, the elderly man shouted with vigor.

All of those auras were as frightening as much as Cornelius and Alecna were. They went about in the castle, Zachery paying close attention to the unexpected movements, Zachery finally moved with the escort of these two terrifying beings.

Zachery's tension was easing as he gained a better understanding of what was going on, but he didn't let his guard down, not that that would assist him in this scenario.

This palace served as a conduit for both Hel's and Grendum's inheritance. After the soul and its will are expelled from the Omniverse, their strength will evaporate into the void, empowering the Omniverse's adversaries, the Dimensional Beings.

Yes, much as Dimensional Beings dying in the Omniverse's domain would power the Omniverse, the death of powerhouses in the Omniverse would power up Dimensional Beings' realm, primarily the Void Lords' domains.

Knowing this, nearly 99% of Omniverse powerhouses would consolidate their strength and anchor it into an inanimate object, which would hold their power until their successor arrived and inherited it.

If this 'palace' was an anchor for the bequest, which it very likely was, he needed to get it as soon as possible. Otherwise, if the 'intruders' mentioned by Corneilus pay him a visit, or if these supposed 'servants' double cross him, he would be a sitting duck waiting to be butchered.

So, after analyzing the scenario, gaining information from the interaction between these two entities, validating the attitude of these two claimed servants, and reviewing the previous conversations Zachery had with the powerhouses prior to regression, Zachery's brain determined it was safe to act.

Zachery intended to shift his standpoint from being passive to active.

"We are not going to the table," Zachery declared, confident that at the very least Cornelius would listen to him out.

Cornelius and Alecna both came to a halt as their gazes went to Zachery, waiting to learn what he had planned to say next.

"We're going to the place where the inheritance is kept," Zachery remarked with finality, yet he was sweating profusely on the inside. If these two replied 'no,' there would be no space for maneuvering the situation.

As the saying goes, no matter what ideas and machinations you devise, absolute strength can always smash them.

Cornelius and Alecna exchanged glances for a solemn split second before their expressions shifted from carefree to stern. They both nodded to each other as Cornelius stretched his hands, only for a meticulously built hammer to appear out of thin air.

Cornelius flicked his hammer and caught it again, only to slam it against a nearby wall, making a thunderous 'thump' sound. The stone didn't fracture, hell, it didn't even have a scratch on it, not because Corneileus didn't have the appropriate strength, but because that wasn't Corneilus's goal.

Intricate runes lit up one by one from where the hammer had landed, eventually covering the entire hallway. Alecna's aura erupted with infinite force as she blanketed the space where the runes lit up, transmitting the message 'Do not disturb'.

With a click, the wall adjacent to Zachery shifted back slightly and sideways slowly but steadily. Zachery was in awe of the magnificent grandeur of this palace.

Zachery was jolted up from his trance as he noticed the torch stands similar to those in the corridor being lit up one by one with blue flames. Zachery took a step forward, praying in his thoughts that these two beings were on his side.

He and his two escorts entered the secret entryway. He glanced at the path in front of him. The forward road was a long, linear stone bridge with gloomy darkness on both sides.

He strolled across the bridge, trying to calm his heart after hearing various skittering noises that sounded like a swarm of cockroaches.

He looked down.

And his face paled.

The eerie darkness that filled the bottom of this pathway was caused not by a lack of light, but by the numerous black-scaled cockroaches that were covering the bottom of the bridge.

Zachery simply lost all emotion when he watched the spectacle of the dancing black-scaled monstrosities.

"Prometheus's little critters are energetic as always~" Alecna had a vacant smile, indicating that she was repulsed by these animals.

Corneilus simply shrugged, expressing his indifference, but his stare was rabid when he met Zachery's glance and when he looked forward.

Their stroll came to an end as Alecna came forward and unlocked the massive door depicting a great fight between Gods and... Outer Gods.

At the forefront of these two sides was one God who stood with the powerful energy of time and space surrounding him like an impenetrable wall that no siege could breach, and on the other side was an Outer God who stood in the forefront that had an energy of chaos and order surrounding him like a beast hungry and ready for their feast.

And the entry of the door was written with enormous ruined letters that read 'The Gordre'd Morfuak Harvar' translated to 'The Great Reality War'.

Alecna put her back to it as the door slowly opened to allow Zachery's gaze to feast on what lay ahead. But all Zachery was confronted with was an intense bloodlust from three eyes that perceived him as prey that was going to be consumed.
