Chapter 3 - 03. IT'S OVER ONE BILLION!!!

"Huff... Huff... Huff..."

A person sprinted to an abandoned factory, and the ragged breathing and shuffling of the feet in the snow remained consistent.

The figure suddenly ground to a stop as he turned to gaze, but all he saw was a shining sliver claw that was inches from slicing the figure's head.

"Hoo..." I exhaled a sigh of relief as I gazed upon my death shining in the snowy night.

Eli now had sunken cheeks and black circles under her eyes, so I gently started to move backward as I stared at her. Although her skin had grown deathly pale, she still had the predator's fixation on her prey in her eyes.

I thanked my luck as I got into the position and started the round again.

The factory was clearly getting close to me, so I ran quickly. Reaching the factory window simply required a brief period of sprinting.

There was a ghost-like monster that remained at odds with me and I didn't have the luxury of looking for the main door.

Whatever the thing was chasing me, Eli was long gone from that body.

I leaped through the glass window, and the force with which I hit the glass caused it to shatter.

I spun around and peered behind me, but I couldn't find the persistent aggressor behind me.

Even though I was a veteran, I gulped as I looked at the front. My heart trembled a little as I stared down the pitch-black hallway in front of me.

I made each step with the utmost caution and trepidation while hardening my heart.

It would be an insult to all of Eli's effort and bravery if I allowed her to wander this world like a zombie, therefore I couldn't leave her in this situation.

Another issue was that, if this continued the way it was, Eli's X-12 would undoubtedly adapt and change, growing and spreading until it became a catastrophe.

If I was going to die, I should at least do good before my life comes to an end.

I took careful steps as lights in the factory flickered barely to illuminate the way forward.

Every time I took a step, the glass beneath my feet would crackle, breaking the eerie calm that had been maintained in the building.

I gulped down my anxiety as I took each step carefully, but all of a sudden...

I stopped.

As sweat began to dribble down my forehead from fear and anxiety, I gently turned my head.

I looked to my left side as my heart skipped a beat.

"Hey, Eli?..." I drew cold sweat as I saw a woman that was at least 3 meters tall as she looked down at me.

While Eli was looking down at me, I could see a bit of her face through the downstyle that covered most of her head.

If it wasn't obvious from her height, she had significantly changed since we had last met. She resembled a gothic woman and had a muscular physique.

"Hey, do you love me?" Eli's demonic voice reverberated through the constructions, causing even the metals to tremble.

"Wh-what?" She was already corrupting my psychology and exerting mental pressure on me just by gazing at me in the eye.

I was not a coward, at least not after I entered the mother system.

This was not natural fear.

This was just the pressure that a normal creature would have when they would meet something of higher existence.

When 'Eli' realized I didn't provide an answer to her query, her cheek-splitting smile vanished in an instant.

A shiver ran down my spine when I noticed that the smile had been turned upside down, revealing a sad countenance that was far more horrifying than the smile itself.

Then...

She was gone.

'Duck!! why the hell doesn't she just kill me!!' I swore in my mind as I looked to my left and right, seeing that Eli didn't have anything to do with me... yet, I moved forward.

I went up the stairs because the entire structure gave off an industrial sense. The machinery and technology that occupied this structure were ideal for the firm.

But I was aware of what this structure stood for, thanks to my "wristband." the stairs groaned as I moved upwards, looking at the holographic map that the Mother System had built for me.

I finally completed examining the structure as I identified my final destination. With my target in mind, I walked on and turned to face a long hallway that occasionally let forth odd noises from the rooms next to it.

I slowly moved with caution sketched on my face.

I cocked my head as I peered at the white wall at the end of the corridor. I peered at the walls next to me with narrowed eyes.

It was black.

I once again glanced at the holographic map, which indicated that my goal was beyond the white wall.

I shrugged as I switched off my common sense and moved forward with trepidation and prudence.

I cautiously approached the white wall and glanced at my map once more to see if being half-zombie caused hallucinations.

But tough luck, the map showed that there was certainly a way forward where the reality showed else wise.

*DIRP*

A droplet fell on my head as I stiffened. I knew where this was going.

Instead of glancing up because I had seen enough horror films to know what would happen next, I softly mumbled a mental command to my own Mother System AI.

I watched as my remaining wealth plummeted and a new function unlocked.

A very high-grade life detection system.

I sighed and thanked the Heavens that whatever creature was just above had the patience to let me do what I want.

I activated the new function as an undetectable ripple passed through the entire building.

I looked at the result and sighed, seeing that there was no creature above me, but that relief only lasted for a second as I saw the number of lifeforms increasing astronomically.

Hundreds... Thousands... Ten thousand... Millions... B-billions...

I noticed when I looked at my wristband that there were at least a billion creatures inside of this factory, which appeared to be deserted and silent.

When I noticed that there was a lifeform directly in front of me, the color in my face (which wasn't much, to begin with) began to fade.

When I straightened my neck to see what was in front of me...

A creature with a face that had no features looked at me.

The creature was as white as the wall in front of me (I'm not being racist here). It was only 5 cm away from me and the monster was also 'curiously' examining my bracelet.

Seeing that I was not looking at the wristband, the creature also looked at me with its expressionless face.

I gulped as I looked at the creature's pure white face that didn't have any facial features slowly split from the cheek slowly to reveal its maw that would even make venom's teeth look like baby teeth.

A grin slowly made its way up to the creature's face as it had its undivided attention on me.

"H-Hi?" Well, there goes my first impression.

Well, that's 1 more chapter and that's the end of the intro of this novel.

I think I did a unique intro by adding a little horror here and there. If you like it, support me as much as you can with power stones and golden tickets (still don't know what that is).

If you can't contribute like that, its fine if you leave a comment and leave your reviews which would also invigorate me to further release more chapters and write more.

So, that's it!

Bye bye!
