Letto was attacking Vanta with a flurry of projectiles. However, Vanta was able to tank all those attacks with ease and took the blows with his body. As Vanta stood his ground, a fierce fireball and a crashing water ball came hurtling towards him.
Without flinching, he absorbed the powerful elements into his being, causing the size of the magic spells to rapidly shrink before the energy dissipated completely. With the same ease, Vanta dispersed orbs and a swirling wind sphere, reducing them to nothingness. Even a solid stone bullet was only able to land a scratch, no match for him before he shattered it into countless pieces. All the while, the membrane that protected Vanta worked flawlessly, shielding him from harm. It was as if he was invincible, a force to be reckoned with.
The blows and the shockwave even reached the spectators far behind the two duelists.
Mizar's jaw dropped as he watched Letto effortlessly weave together five different spells at once. "Is that some kind of next-level multicasting?!" he exclaimed, feeling a thrill of excitement run through him. He had never seen anyone use magic in such a complex and sophisticated way before.
Vanta caught Mizar's reaction and quickly intervened. "Actually, it's not multicasting at all," he clarified. "Letto's using a Tulk Card called 'Ongoing Haste' to cast each spell separately but at an incredibly rapid pace. It creates the illusion of multicasting, but it's actually a highly advanced form of spellcasting that requires years of practice to master."
"That amount of power is not enough to defeat me. Watch this." Vanta increased the intensity of the membrane that enveloped his body. The layers of transparent force field were moving as if they were alive, flowing and circling around his body. He went for another frontal assault, charging forward towards Letto. Using the membrane as an extension of his body, he molded the shape of the membrane in his arms to expand its range.
Letto, who is still confident with the beryl wall, took the attack head-on and keeps on using his card. He activated one card in his hand called "Arrangement."
This card gave him a faint glow that came from the disappearing card before a beam of light enveloped Letto whole body.
Seeing this, Vanta use this chance to land an attack. Before Letto could use a card, Vanta once again dashed forward and appeared in front of Letto. He took a heaving swing and landed a punch on his torso. The blow was able to penetrate Letto's body effulgent of Beryl as there was a shattering and breaking sound coming from the green gleam that covered Letto. The shield that protected his body had been broken.
"What...? It goes through my defense!"
With "Ongoing Haste," Letto jumped back before he pulled a series of greater stone bullets to create a distance between him and his opponent. The consecutive shots of bigger stone bullets flew and hit Vanta. He could still shatter the stone, but he had to put several times more effort to defend himself now. The greater stone bullet managed to knock him several steps away and sent him further from Letto. It knocked him into the back of the alley, where he stood in silent still with a smile on his face.
It was getting late as the sun left the sky and the alley grew darker and colder. The end alley was really dark. It was so dark that it was hard to see where Vanta was standing.
Inside the dark alley, Vanta's smile turned into a grin. He proceeded to the next part of his plan.
Several new wicked tracers slithered out from the end of the dark alley and went to follow Letto.
These wicks that shone like a firecracker that was being lit crept on the ground and searched for him.The wicked tracer still follows him. He has to dodge Wick and Vanta's attacks at the same time while also casting the Tulk card to perform a counter-attack to create distance while also devising his next move.
He uses detect and inspect to locate Vanta, who had hidden using the membrane stealth function, and to sense the wicked tracer's movement at the same time.
He found him, he blends in within the shadows of the alley as he position himself behind the wicks that chased Letto, he hid himself behind fifteen wicks that slither from all directions. It was moving in an entrapping pattern as it tried to lead and places Letto into a corner.
He did it in way that makes it harder for Letto to land an attack on him as the wicks would also prevent him from casting Tulk cards.
It was difficult for Letto to avoid all those wicks as he runs out of places to move when he has reached the dead end of the alley.
Letto draws six cards to replenish his hand. The first card is a new set of Body Effulgent of Beryl. He immediately replace the broken spell with a new one
He then placed other cards in his hand. Those card are Systolic Chain, Phasing Bullet, Defuse, Counter Spell, and Mana Barrier. He also planted the Arrangement spell that he has previously cast.
"Array Set!" He swiftly pulls out and activates ten Greater Stone Bullets from his pocket, emptying his entire deck. He uses all the remaining cards he had left in the deck, quickly using all ten of them one after another. The effects that would have come from the cards are suspended by the effect of the arrangement. The arrangement holds the spell that would come off from a Tulk card and activates them at once when the user releases the Array.
The approaching wicked tracer has come closer to him. He could sense that Vanta has also gotten closer.
Right after he has done with the arrangement spell, one of the wick has reached him and made contact with him. It exploded like a triggered mine.
The explosion managed to throw Letto off of his foot and made him fall on his back. He was taken aback by the relentless assault. The new Beryl Wall he put on was able to absorb most of the impact but he still took some damage. The remaining wick was still following him and was about to reach him.
Letto was left with no choice but to dodge and weave his way through the wicks, hoping to find a gap that will lead him to safety.
Even though he was trapped inside Vanta's plan, as a duelist who has gone through countless duels, Letto could adapt to the situation he was in. Without losing his pacing, he launched his own counter attack on Vanta.
He used the card he held in his hand and called forth the the card name.
"Systolic Chain,"
he activated the chain that follows and binds its target. It successfully found Vanta and tied tightly around his body, disabling his movement right on the spot.
"Array Release"
He released the tens of spells he had been holding back using his "Arrangement" ability and bombarded Vanta with them all at once.
Those stones bullets lined up and created a rapid succession of shots that penetrated the Membrane bit by bit.
This overwhelmed Vanta enough for him to pull off all of the Wicked Tracers that were still chasing Letto.
All of the wicked tracers that follow Letto changed direction and came to surround Vanta in an encirclement, creating some sort of a snake-like rotating guard. Disregarding that, Letto keeps pushing forward and steps on one of the tracers. He uses the "Defuse" card to deactivate the tracer that he stepped on before using the Phasing Bullet card and aiming at Vanta. Vanta calls a new wicked tracer, but it was directly negated by the Counter Spell card that Letto had in his hand. When he gets in range for his spell, Letto makes a shot at Vanta using the Phasing Bullet.
The bullet was made with condensed mana that have more firepower and piercing capabilities, it was able to hit Vanta with a significant force to hurt him. A thumping sound could be heard when the bullet goes through the membrane and shoots Vanta directly.
The deafening sound of a the shot echoes through the alleyway as Mizar and Ridley witness a horrifying sight - their friend Vanta writhing in pain, a crimson stain spreading across his shirt. Without a second thought, they both scream out his name in unison, their voices filled with fear and desperation. "Vanta!!"
