The two of Linden and Lyra keep observing Owen using the PDA. Linden and Lyra move to the computer only after Owen is nearby the building.
The bird has finished its task following the man. It can't go inside the building and fly toward the basement, so it perched on a tree nearby.
It didn't take long for Owen to reach the abandoned building. He, as usual, keeps looking around. Afraid to be seen by other people.
Fortunately for him, nothing happened, and he arrived at the abandoned building without any mishap.
Owen didn't waste any time. He goes inside the building and walks briskly toward the basement.
"Yup. With this, it is confirmed he knows about the magic circle," said Lyra. "The question is, did he know how to use it?"
"Senior, is it okay not to go there now?" asked Linden. He is worried that something might happen if they don't move fast enough.
"We will run there in a second. Prepare yourself and your gun. Change your gun mode to a paralyzing shot mode along the way."
Lyra's focus is back on the computer screen. Scrutinizing every move that Owen makes.
Owen put both his sling bag and the plastic bag down. He then opened the sling bag and picked a red book. Owen read the book for a minute before opening the plastic bag. Inside that plastic bag, a carcass of a chicken and other smaller plastic bags can be seen.
This time, Lyra's expression changed. Her usually cheerful expression suddenly turned serious. The air around her also started to get heavy.
"We will run now! He is preparing to use the summoning magic circle. Don't forget to change the mode of your gun. There is still time before he is ready," said Lyra, giving out orders to Linden in a row.
Linden has been preparing since a few minutes ago. He is ready to move anytime Lyra orders him. So he jumped from his chair and followed Lyra to run toward the side door.
The side door of this room is connected to the inner yard of the hotel. The yard itself is surrounded by a high concrete fence, high enough to hinder your typical thieves. But it is not high enough for the two people with enhanced bodies.
After jumping over the fence, Lyra and Linden are in the small street around the hotel. They started to run toward the abandoned building.
***
Inside the dimly lit street, a man and a woman are running with a destination in their mind. The woman leads the way, followed by the man behind her. Meanwhile, the man is tinkering with his gun, changing something.
Their footstep is not quiet, but it is also not loud enough to garner attention from people inside their houses. Some curious person will tilt their head, wondering what happened outside. But after hearing the footsteps slowly drift away, they forgot about it and went back to their thing.
"Let's slow down," said the woman when they almost reached the building. "I think it is best if we ambush him. So, try to be quiet and not scare the man."
The man, Linden, nodded and softened his steps. He took a deep breath and steeled himself.
"Also, keep standing behind me and prepare yourself. I can handle him by myself. But if something goes wrong, don't hesitate to shoot. Okay?"
Once again, Linden nodded. Both Lyra and Linden continued walking toward the basement. When they arrived in front of the room, Lyra signaled Linden to stop.
Lyra then kicked the door open before running toward the center of the room. While doing that, she reevaluates the man inside the room. She had evaluated Owen when he was first displayed on Linden's PDA. At that time, Lyra feels that she can win against the man.
After seeing the man in person, she knew her evaluation of Owen didn't miss the mark. Confidence grows in her heart, and she moves faster toward the place where Owen is standing.
On the other hand, Owen is surprised to see someone barged into the room. His mind worked at maximum capacity, thinking about where he did go wrong. He was very sure that no one was following him.
He was also wondering who is the woman in front of him. The one that is closing in toward him right now.
Too bad. He didn't have much more time to think about it.
Lyra has shortened the distance between the two in a split second. She swings her legs toward the man, specifically toward the back of the knee. Obviously, she didn't use her full power. She only uses enough force to trip the man.
Owen tried to avoid the attack, but his untrained body will never win against a fully trained, enhanced human. He lost his balance as the back part of his knee was getting hit by Lyra's leg.
While Owen was in mid-air fall, Lyra prepared her gun. She aims at the lower part of the body. Lyra only pulled the trigger, shooting the anesthesia shot, after Owen fell flat to the ground.
The anesthetic worked fast, and Owen lost consciousness in a second.
"Huft~" Lyra sighed in relief. Even though she was sure she could do it, the pressure was still there. Only after she had knocked Owen down did the pressure ease.
"Senior, that was so cool," said Linden as he moved toward the center of the room.
He was waiting at the entrance to the room. And he also saw how Lyra moved, knocking down the middle-aged man in a matter of seconds.
"Really?" asked Lyra. She looked over her shoulder and showed a playful grin. "Now, help me here. Check his body and examine if there is any injury there. After that, we will extract his memory."
Linden does a basic body check on Owen and found no external injuries on the body.
"Good. Now, help me put this tool on him," said Lyra. She picks a helmet-like item from her bag.
"Senior, you always pick a tool from your bag. But how can your bag is filled with that many items?" asked Linden.
"Wait, did I not tell you? This item is a dimension bag. You can get it in the office."
