Haruka and the girl wearing the glasses stood outside of the convenience store, with bags of groceries in their hands. Haruka looked up towards the stars in the now dark sky, while the girl wearing the glasses watched her with eyes that resembled the stars. "I don't mean to pry into your life, but are you okay? You seemed kind of sad all day." She asked.
Haruka looked towards the girl with the glasses with a smirk, before that suddenly dropped. "What's your name?" Haruka asked. "Uh- Jimini." The girl wearing the glasses responded.
"I like that name." Haruka responded to Jimini, before looking back up at the stars. However the response from Haruka made Jiminis face go red all of a sudden.
"There's a friend that I have. Or atleast a friend that I thought I had. But all of a sudden it's like he stopped talking to me." Haruka said calmly and softly, before staring straight ahead with a deep gaze. While Jimini watched in silence. "It's like he's gone. Just like that." She added with the glow in her eyes seeming to dim.
"Are you talking about Koyoko?" Jimini walked closer to Haruka with that question. The sudden question had seemed to surprise Haruka based on the way she turned and looked in Jiminis direction.
"It's..it's nothing." She responded while looking down. Her voice was quieter, and her usual joy was diminished. "I have to go. I'll see you tomorrow." She said, before turning around and walking away. Without giving Jimini a chance to say anything in response. In response, Jiminis expression rose.
Meanwhile, I just got back home. Once I opened the door, my mother who was cooking shook her head in frustration. "You're late again..I really hope this doesn't become a pattern-" Her frustrated tone and expression changed, once she turned around and saw me with a girl.
She nudged my father who was sitting at the table on the shoulder. This made him look up, and both of their jaws dropped once they saw me standing with a girl. "Yeah..sorry about that. I got caught up with a um.." I turned to look at the red haired girl with a bit of awkwardness. While she looked at me in shock. "Friend." I called her, leaving both of my parents speechless at the exact same time.
"Anyways, is it fine if we go up to my room?" I asked both of my parents. My dad was still speechless, though my mom was able to break free from her frozen state and give me a response. "That's fine..but dinner will be ready in about an hour." She said while I walked up stairs.
Seeming pretty awkward and out of place, the red haired girl followed behind me to my room after taking off her shoes. While both of my parents watched her go up the stairs. To knock my father from his shocked state, my mother hit him over the shoulder with her spatula.
"I don't know if you are stupid or what. But do you know what I meant by making your day better?" The red haired girl asked me, as the two of us got inside of my room.
"I do. But that's not the fun I wanted to have. Lately things have been rough. And I was hoping you'd like to play a game with me before I sell my system." I responded back to her, before grabbing one of my controllers, and holding it out to her. She looked down at it, then back up at me with a shocked face. Her sassy expression and tone has drifted away aswell. "I don't really have any friends so I have no one else to ask..very uncool right?" She continued to look at me while I spoke.
After looking at me for a bit, she looked around my room, and acknowledged the boxes that I had around my room. All of which were filled with some of my belongings that I was going to sell. "Why are you selling it?" She asked me, before walking away from me, and towards some of the boxes.
I didn't really know how to answer that question without putting my entire business out there for her. So instead I answered with a simple answer. "I need the money..I would ask you if you want to buy anything but it seems like you also need money." I chuckled a bit as I said that to her.
She rolled her eyes in response, as her sassy tone had came back to her. "You know we do pay for things too right? We don't just make the money to store into savings until we grow old or something." She said with her arms crossed, and a glare at me.
I lowered my head in defeat from her response. She was right. Though it made me curious about why she wanted or had to make money the way that she was doing. Regardless, that's not what I brought her here for. Once again, I held out the controller for her to take.
She looked down at the controller with hesitation. "One game..after that, I have to head back." She responded to me, and I smiled slightly as she grabbed the controller from my hand.
After that, the two of us played the game. While we did, her sassy tone had seemed to leave, and so did her usual tone. She wasn't trying to seduce me or get money out of me, which genuinely made me pretty happy. Funny enough, we played more than one game. We ended up playing a few.
While we did play, a thought had suddenly crossed my mind. I didn't know if it was the heat of the moment, but I questioned if this girl in my room right now, the girl who's name I didn't even know is the girl for me. The anime girlfriend that I had dreamed of. It's possible that I was overshooting. I got too ahead of myself with Haruka. But this girl with her obvious imperfections and qualities, Maybe that's more in my league.
Though there's only problem. If this is supposed to be the girl of my dreams, then why do I still get upset about it not being Haruka? Every chance I had that I messed up, I was able to quickly let it go. So why am I not able to let Haruka go just like I did with the others? These feelings, they're much more complicated than what's shown in romcoms. Hard to understand sometimes, or get a grasp of. The thoughts in my head that I was questioning made the smile on my face drop. "Hey, you alright?" The girl asked me with a smile. Knocking me out of my thoughts, I started to smile again, and try not to think too much on it.
Later that day, I walked the red haired girl to the door. "Thanks for the food." She said to my mom, and both my mom and dad gave her a smile.
Afterwards, the two of us walked out of my house. "Can you believe it? Koyoko has a friend." My mother said with a genuine smile on her face. My dad nodded his head and smiled as well. "I couldn't. But I'm happy for him." My dad responded.
Me and the red haired girl walked together in silence, away from my house. "Want me to walk you home? It is late." I asked her, though she turned to look at me with a teasing smile. And the two of us stopped walking, and looked at eachother instead.
"You're already selling me this amazing PlayStation.." She responded to me with that teasing smile, as she held up my previously owned gaming system in my face.
"You should definitely get a bag for that. Don't want no one to steal it or something." I said to her.
"Pft I'm fine..plus, I only live a few blocks down." She responded to me, before walking away and heading in the direction of her home.
While looking at her, the thoughts that I previously had, had started to come back to my head. And when she turned around and looked at me with a bit of a smile, I didn't know what to think. "Also, my name is Ikimisa." She said to me with a smile.
"Oh-I'm Koyoko." I responded awkwardly. She then walked away.
I had to say goodbye to her, and my PlayStation five. Though it was worth it. It was all for Harukas sake. And once all of this is over with, I have some thinking to do. Who really will be my anime girlfriend?
