Alice could tell that something was going on with Chandler lately even though Chandler tries to convince her that everything was alright, he could not tell her that the werewolves are planning to start the war. Mr. Beckham made Chandler promise that he would not tell because she might tell Marshall IV that and that won't favor anyone, Mr. Beckham still believed that he could convince the Entities to not go to this war and until then he does not want the hunters to know anything about that yet.
"I know something is going on, what's it?" Alice asked as she laid down on Chandler's bed in his room, Chandler was standing up.
Chandler really wanted to tell her because he does not want to keep any secret between them, but he still doesn't know if he could trust her with such sensitive information, he stood there as he stared at her pondering whether he should just tell her, but he still could not say a word since he promised his father. He exhaled as he shrugged, he has to wait until his father comes back from New York where he went to meet with the Entities. "I told you it's nothing. Chandler replied with a smile to conceal the lie, but he was not a good liar.
"That's it," Alice said as she got up from the bed.
"That's what?" Chandler asked with confusion written all over his face, but Alice did not respond, she was busy checking herself on the mirror in Chandler's room.
"If you don't want to say the truth then I can't be here so call me when you're ready, to be honest with me," Alice said as she walks to the door to leave but Chandler holds her back.
"Okay wait I will tell you." Chandler held her hand as he huffed and puffed because he was in a dilemma, he would have to break his promise to his father to pacify his angry girlfriend which he could not get to lose.
"Okay, so my father went to meet the Entities for something very important and supposed to be a secret." Chandler tried not to say more as he looked into Alice's eyes.
Alice could tell that he was saying the truth this time around and she could also feel how hard that must be for him to say, she was about to tell him that it was okay but they were interrupted by the doorbell downstairs.
"Please stay here, I'm coming," Chandler said as he led Alice back to his bed to help her sit down, he rushed down to see who was ringing the doorbell outside. Chandler jolted back as soon as he opened the door, he could not believe that Marshall IV was standing right in front. He was the last person he was expecting to be at his house now, he was terrified but he was not going to let him know that.
"Boy, how're you?" He said with a dry chuckle.
"How can I help you?" Chandler asked as he moved closer so it does not seem like he was scared of him.
"I told you that I don't want our paths to cross again but that would be hard if you keep seeing my daughter, so I want that to stop." Marshall IV stated. "I love your daughter...we love each other."
"Love?" Marshall IV chuckled as he stares meanly at Chandler "Now listen boy, she's my kid and I don't ever want to see your werewolf ass near her again."
"You lost the right to call her your daughter when you left her to explore the world killing werewolves." Chandler was trying to sound tough but maybe he said too much already because he could tell that he just provoked Marshall IV, Chandler could feel his heart pounding so fast that it almost tore his shirt.
"What did you say to me, boy?" Marshal IV dipped his hand behind his coat, Chandler could hear his fingers touching his pistol dipped behind him around his waist.
"You know you can't kill me. Your kid would never forgive you." Chandler reminded him of what he already knows.
"Smart kid." Marshall IV said as he chuckled and removed his hands from his back, adjusted his coat, and stepped back and turns to leave but turns around to look at Chandler who still stood there confused.
"I can't kill you but there are lots of hunters that won't blink a lie as they blow your brains out," Marshall IV said as he giggled and walks away leaving Chandler standing there terrified.
"Who was that?" Alice asked from behind Chandler, she just walked down, and Chandler was startled as he heard her from behind.
"Oh! That was my neighbor." Chandler lied. "Your neighbor?" Alice asked as she leaned to get a good look at who it was like she did not believe him, but Marshall IV was long gone.
"Yeah, he was looking for my dad, but I told him that he was not around."
"Okay my Mom just called, I have to meet her at the hospital now," Alice said as she walked closer to where Chandler stood.
"You have to go now?" Chandler asked as he watched her walk closer to him. "Yeah, I'll call you later."
"Not if I call you first," Chandler replied as he held her on her waist and kissed her goodbye, she smiled and walked through the door that Chandler left open for her to walk through. She turned around and waved her bye before she walked away, Chandler stood there smiling as he waved her bye too. Just as Chandler was about to slam the door, he heard a car sound driving into their compound and the sound of the car was very familiar, he walked outside and he saw his father's truck driving in. Chandler walked outside to meet his father, he was anxious to know if his father succeeded in convincing the Entities not to start the war, his father parked the truck as he stepped outside and he was not looking happy at all but Chandler knew that his father does that sometimes. As a joke, he would frown his face so you would think he has bad news and then he turns around to tell you the good news so he just wished that this would be the case.
"How did it go?" Chandler asked as he walked close to his father.
"They have already made up their mind." Mr. Beckham replied as he exhaled and slammed his truck's door.
"What are we going to do now? Chandler asked but Mr. Beckham shrugged as he walked to open the door of their house, he turned around to see Chandler still standing there looking at him.
"There's a bag at the back of the truck, help me get it inside." Mr. Beckham said as he turned around and then walked inside. Chandler stood akimbo as he raised his head and exhaled, he sighed as he walked to the back of the truck to get the bag but as soon as he bent to pick the bag up he heard something like a gun pressed on his back.
"Don't make any sudden movement." The voice thundered; Chandler did not need to turn around to know who has the voice.
"What is it again?" Chandler asked.
"I heard that the Entities are planning to start a war." Marshal IV said. Chandler was surprised at how he found out.
"Who told you that?"
"I know everything. Now listen to what I have to say. Tell the fucking Entities that if they try to start that war, they will lose it even before it starts and it will end with many werewolves dead."
"Hunters are already killing werewolves for a long time now so what's the difference?" Chandler asked, he was not supporting the Entities but he needed to let Marshall IV know that they were also the reason for the impending war.
"If the war starts kid, then you will know the difference," Marshall said as he shoved Chandler, Chandler turned around, but he could not see him again like he just disappeared.
"Motherfucker thinks he's Batman" Chandler swore under his breath as he looked around but could not still see him anywhere.
