Chapter 21 - Chapter 22

Lev saw the commotion being created by one of the nobles that he often clashed with during the noble meetings.

There were differing views and the nobles were split into factions.

One side was the royal faction while the other faction was made up of the new nobility.

Some neutral parties tried to stay out of the internal politics of the kingdom too so they could be considered as the neutral faction.

The Petrova family were from a long line of nobles with old traditions and values in the Vodka Kingdom so they were a part of the royal faction.

Families like the Popov family only had been nobles for a couple of generations and had differing ideals and goals.

Lev moved in quickly and kicked the back of the leg of Marquess Popov. "My people are not yours to teach. If you knew proper noble traditions then you should know that it is an affront to another noble to try to damage or take what is theirs. You tried once already and this is the second time."

Popov tried to lure Rich to his side in the past and what he was doing in the present was partly due to that.

His anger played a role in it too but he had crossed a line.

To a noble, their vassals were theirs.

Like their own property, if another noble tried to take it or damage it then it was considered as being a great insult and challenge.

Any noble who valued their family name would not let such a thing go.

Status was important to them and they could not be looked down upon.

Lev pushed the face of Popov into the ground pushing him to kneel more. "This should be enough. I do not know how your family can be on the same rank as mine."

The Petrova family did not rise due to political stability and maintaining their duties.

Rising any higher would only create unrest in the kingdom so his family never rose beyond that.

Other nobles on the other hand were eager to rise the ranks.

Popov felt great shame as Lev left with Rich and Tanya then he returned home.

That night, the nesting doll in his office began speaking to him. "You do not get the respect that matches your title."
