Chapter 18 - Chapter 19

The actions taken by those under the leadership of Captain Rich were the first of many that took place within a single day.

They struck hard and fast giving no room for those being targeted to be able to escape or put up a fight effectively.

The approval had been given by Lev Petrova who sought out permission from the king during a private meeting.

The king was very paranoid and did not like the idea of others raising their power in secret so he was quick to approve of such a plan even if it was the commoners or others who were being armed.

The movements of the unit assigned to perform the duties started to gain the attention of the nobles who were not let in on such a plan.

Quite a large amount of goods were confiscated in a single day and many people were taken in to be interrogated.

Among the various goods that had been taken away, several different illegal businesses dealt with illegal weapons, stolen goods, and illegal substances, and even some dealt with the slave trade.

While the slave trade was something that was not considered as being illegal and many nobles took part in it actively, they were still brought in.

Tanya had suggested that any kind of illegal activities no matter how accepted they were could become a means of raising funds for any form of rebellion so such businesses needed to be more strictly managed and handled so that they would not affect the kingdom negatively.

One route was that someone could use that area of business to raise funds for a private army.

Another route was that citizens of the kingdom would be forced into slavery leaving few that could keep the kingdom supported and that would remain loyal.

A small trigger would be all it would take for the citizens to have a united hatred toward the nobility and that would spark a large revolution.

Either such a revolution would be the result of such circumstances or they would be pushed by someone from inside or outside of the kingdom.

As a reward for her many efforts and accomplishments, Tanya was awarded a simple flintlock pistol.
