Chapter 66 - After the attack 2

Cain walked through the city and headed to the Adventurer's Guild.

The Adventurer's Guild was deserted, as it was lunchtime.

The adventurers are out on request during the day, so the busiest times are in the morning and evening.

Cain found Letia-san and approached her over the counter.

''Hello, Letia-san. Can I meet with Edin-san now?

Letia notices Cain and smiles back.

''Hello, Master Cain. The Guildmaster is in his office today, so I'll go check it out.

Letia said a few words to the receptionist sitting next to her and disappeared to the back of the room.

While waiting, Cain looked at the request board. Since it was the royal capital, the requests were mainly for escorting rather than defeating.

When he was looking for a request for defeat, Letia came to pick him up.

''Cain-sama, the guild master will be meeting with you. I will show you around.''

Letia led me to Edin's office.

He knocked, and when he heard a voice of permission from through the door, he opened the door and walked in.

'Cain-kun, what's going on today?'

Cain sat down on the couch that was recommended and explained the events of the previous day.

As the story progressed, Edin's forehead wrinkled up. His hands are gripped tightly by anger.

'I'm sorry, Mr. Cain. I didn't think it was that bad. I know that Lixetu is a brainy but straightforward character. That's why I thought he would be fine as long as he had an excellent subguildmaster, but I didn't expect that subguildmaster to be dishonest. ...

So I've come to see if I can get someone good to help me rebuild the guild.

Cain didn't dislike Rixetu. He just had a straightforward personality, and if he had a good assistant, he thought it would be no problem.

''Alright. I'll make arrangements from the guild in the capital immediately. I'm going to accompany you. This is not something that even the guild master of the King's Capital Headquarters can tolerate. As soon as we are ready, we'll head out today.

Edin's face was serious. He must be that angry.

''Mr. Edin, is it okay for you to leave the royal capital?''

The Guildmaster of the King's Capital Headquarters is also the sum total of the adventurer's guilds that are developing in the country. As such a person heads to the city of Drintle, he is going to be away from the royal capital for a few days.

Cain has decided to confide in him a secret story. Because he trusts him as his future brother-in-law.

'Mr. Edin, I actually have a proposal. However, please keep this matter confidential.''

'It's your brother-in-law (Cain), I promise you on that one.

Cain nodded, as Edin agreed with him.

'Actually--'

Cain explained that the transition magic would allow him to get to Drintle in an instant.

'Thank goodness for that! But still, I didn't know you could even use the so-called legendary transference magic. Then I can go to Drintle today. If possible, could you take the new subguild master with you? We'll make sure he's very careful about what he says.

I understand. Well, as soon as you're done picking, then.

'Will you pick me up again in two hours? I'll have it ready for you by then.

Cain shook hands with Edin one last time and left the office.

He had no other business to attend to, so he decided to return to the mansion once more.

When he opened the door and entered, Coran and Sylvia were standing there with a horrified look on their faces.

''Cain-sama, sa, I'm sorry about earlier. I didn't expect you to have heard me.''

Master Cain, I'm sorry.

They both bow their heads deeply and apologize.

'Yeah? I don't mind. They're old enough, and if it was just the two of us, we'd be fine. It's just that this is an important time to be a lord. So wait for me for a bit.

They are both patted down by the fact that Cain wasn't angry.

Sylvia is a special maid to Cain, having taken care of him since shortly after he was born.

That's why Coran was relieved when he thought he might be dismissed for sharing his feelings with her.

I'll tell you when it's time to get married. I'll send you my congratulations.

Cain tells them, and both of their faces turn bright red as he tells them.

Cain sat down at his desk in the office and went through the documents that needed to be settled.

As expected of Coran, he was excellent, so the documents were well organized and he stamped them one after the other without any problems.

He stamps all the documents, leans back in his chair, raises his arms and stretches out.

''It's finally done. I guess it's time for me to go to the guild.''

He gathered up the documents that had been settled and put them in the completion box.

Cain stood up and stretched out again and left the office.

He told Coran and Sylvia that he would be staying at Drintle today after heading to the guild.

We left the mansion and made our way through the aristocratic district. It was dusk when we reached the Adventurer's Guild.

When I entered the guild, for some reason Letia-san was waiting for me in the hall, looking unhappy.

''Master Cain, we've been expecting you. The guild master is waiting for you.''

Letia leads me to Edin's office. Letia remains silent, unlike usual.

He knocked and checked and then opened the door.

Cain sits on the couch facing Edin. And for some reason, Letia sat beside Edin.

There was already a large package next to the couch.

'I thought I'd have Letia go to Drintle. Even in the Adventurer's Guild, you need a certain amount of experience to become a sub-guild master. Letia is also the chief of this King's Capital Guild headquarters, so I figured there wouldn't be a problem.

''Once again, my name is Letia. I've just been appointed by the King's Capital Guild Headquarters to be the Sub-Guildmaster of Drintle. Yes, I'm a bachelor and I live in a dormitory. It's a short walk to everywhere.

Letia greets Cain with a self-mocking greeting, then turns to the side and looks at Edin with a thorny stare.

It seems that Edin has chosen someone who has no problem transferring him. Still, Cain was surprised to learn that Letia-san was the chief.

''I too would be reassured if Letia-san would be the sub-guild master of Drintle. I know her, so it's easy to talk to her. Letia-san, I look forward to working with you.

'Mr. Cain, it's nice to meet you too. I'll do my best.

Finally, his expression softened from earlier.

'Cain-kun, this one is ready to go. I can't wait to get there if I can.

Shall we go then? I'll take care of Miss Letia's luggage for you.

Cain puts Letia's things in the item box.

'I see you even have an item box, Master Cain: ...

He tells them to move closer to the two of them, letting Letia's mutterings flow through him.

I place my hands on their shoulders and chant a spell.

''Then let's go. ''Transition.''

In an instant, their vision changed, and they realized they were near the gates of Drintle.

Neither of them could hide their surprise at their first transition.

''So this is the legendary transference magic: ...

'It really is a moment, isn't it? What a time we've been spending in the carriage.

All right, everybody, let's go.

He heads for the gate with Cain in the lead.

Cain called out to the guards at the gate.

'Good evening, may I come through?'

The guard, who knows Cain as his lord, replies nervously.

''This is, my lord, the two of you in the back are ....

''The two men behind me are King's Landing Guildmaster Lord Edin and Guild employee Letia-san.

The two of you will present your identification. It's a guild card, of course. The guild card for staff members, when the magic power is poured out, displays the name and other information as well as the guild staff.

''Thank you for the confirmation. Welcome to Drintru.

The guards, who have checked their IDs, bow politely.

The three of them walked past them and entered the city.

When they saw the streets, they were impressed that the city was more bustling than they expected.

''After all, it's a city of adventurers, so it's bustling.''

I thought it was worse than that.

I showed them around the city and followed them to the Adventurer's Guild.

I'm sure you'll find that the adventurer's guild hall in this town is magnificent. It's just as well that there are many people registered.

Edin muttered to himself as he looked at the exterior of the building.

Once inside, it was full of adventurers, as it was evening. He could clearly see that it was crowded about the tavern in the back as well.

As the door opened, the eyes of the adventurers gathered on Cain.

Among them were many adventurers who had been drinking and watching the events at the training grounds the other day from the bleachers, apparently, and they backed away from the waist as soon as they saw Cain's face.

Those adventurers who didn't know about it, on the contrary, were pointing and laughing at the sight of him.

And then there were the adventurers who were assessing the three of them. To a stranger, it didn't look like a party of children, elves and beautiful women.

The three of them, including Cain, walked straight in and called out over the counter.

The person who responded was Aura, who had called out to them before.

''Excuse me. I'd like to meet with the guild master.''

''Yes, sir. Master Cain, yes, I'll ask the Guildmaster about it right away.

Cain was surprised by the words that were returned to him before he could say his name.

The aura that had been called out to him disappeared into the back with a smile. The other receptionist watched him with a frustrated look on her face.

After waiting for a little while, the guild master, Rixetu, came out from the back with great speed.

''This is Cain-sama! Sorry to keep you waiting--

Beside Cain, of course, was Edin. Lixetu saw Edin's face and instantly froze.

''And, and the Overseer!

Hello, Mr. Rickshaw, it's been a long time. I've come to talk to you about many things.

With Edin's arrival, Lixetu was upright and immobile and didn't twitch.

Even Lixetu, a former S-ranked adventurer, couldn't get his head around Edin.

Even the surrounding adventurers and receptionists were surprised by Lixetu's agitation, and their gazes were drawn to one place.

''Why is Edin-sama, the Guild Overseer of the King's Capital, even in Drintle!

That's because my brother-in-law, Cain, told me about it, of course.

Let me show you to the parlor. This way, please.

As Edin smiled at him, Lixetu broke out in a cold sweat and responded to Edin more than Cain did.

The four of them, including Lixetu, disappeared into the back of the room, causing the people around them to make a collective noise.

''What the hell, those guys! I didn't know that the demon Lixites could be so screwed up.

Who the f*ck is that kid?

He's the devil. That's the Silver Devil. He's the Silver Devil.

「「「「 Seriously? 」」」」

The receptionists were talking about Edin and Cain, not the Rixettes.

''Oh, that's .... That's Edin-sama, the Guild Overseer Master of the King's Capital, I've only seen him once in the King's Capital. And the one behind you was Letia-san, the chief of the King's Capital Guild, right? I can't believe I'm with someone like that. ...

「「「「 Who the hell is Master Cain? 」」」」

In Cain and the others' absence, the talk within the guild was ramping up.

And that was the moment when two names were given without Cain's knowledge.
