Chapter 51 - Lord Derintoru

The audience and explanations were over and we returned to the mansion.

''Master Cain, congratulations on your appointment as Viscount.

""Congratulations to you,"

The maids were arranged in the hall in the doorway, led by Coran and Sylvia.

''Thank you very much. I'll be coming and going to and from this mansion, so keep up the good work.''

The maids are "Hi! He replied cheerfully. Apparently, as a maid, it's an honor to be able to work at the Viscount's house.

''Coran, may I have a word with you? I have something to talk to you about in the Oval Office.

Yes, sir.

Cain thanked the maids and went with Coran to his office.

'I didn't expect you to be Drintle. Are you all right?

As I thought, Coran knew the story of the city of Drintle, too.

''His Majesty and the Prime Minister have told me that I can do whatever I want, and I'll do a lot of things. It's called an adventurer's city, so it's good to see it once as an adventurer, and I'll go this weekend.

Please be careful. However, Master Cain was ranked A, wasn't he? Please don't be too flamboyant, or cause His Majesty any trouble again.

Yeah. His Majesty said to me the other day, "You can't even weigh yourself down! I've just been told that.

'Even from His Majesty? .... What in the world would you do with ...?

As expected, I couldn't say anything about my status, so I kept quiet about it.

The next day at the school.

''Cain-sama, congratulations on your promotion.

Congratulations, Cain!

Teres and Silk congratulated me.

''Congratulations to Viscount Cain on your promotion. I didn't expect you to be the lord of that drintle, well, good luck.''

The one who gives me a smile that seems to have a backstory is Habit, the Marquis of Corzino's son. He seems to have heard from his parents that he's hearing about the current state of Drintru, and that he can see the territory management failing.

He brings his henchmen from B class all the way to S class to say hello.

''Thank you very much, Habit-kun. It's my first time running a fiefdom and I'll do my best to have a deputy here to help me out.

After that, the school's classes ended without incident.

Cain walked out of the south gate, still in his uniform, and headed to the Adventurer's Guild.

When he opened the door and entered, he felt the eyes of the adventurers inside for a moment due to his arrival in his uniform, but he was quickly turned away from them.

They had been killed within the Adventurer's Guild before, and they knew what they were doing.

I bypassed the request board and stood in line there as I saw a receptionist I knew.

''Hello, Letia-san.''

It was the receptionist who responded to me when I registered as an adventurer.

''Oh, hello, Cain-sama. Do you have a request today?

Actually, I've come to see Mr. Edin for advice, is it okay?

If you're the Guildmaster, I'll go ask him, he's probably in his office. In the meantime, please wait in there.

Mr. Letia got up from his seat, said a few words to the receptionist next to him, and walked into the back.

After sitting in the lobby and waiting for a few minutes, Letia-san returned.

''Master Cain, the guild master will be meeting with you. Please come this way so I can show you around.''

Letia led me to her office.

'I'm Letia. I've escorted Lady Cain to you.

He announced after knocking on the door.

'Come in,'

I heard a voice from the other side of the door, so I opened the door and walked in.

'Just sit there and wait. We're almost done with Kiri. Letia, get me a cup of tea.

Okay. Now, Master Cain, if you will wait for me.

Letia showed Cain around and then left the room to prepare the tea.

She served the tea right away, and as I waited leisurely, it seemed that Edin's work was done.

'I'm sorry, Cain-kun, I'm sorry to keep you waiting,'

No, no, no, it's the same for me. I'm sorry I didn't have an appointment.

Edin sat down on the sofa opposite Cain and sipped the tea Letia had made for him.

'So what's the matter with you today? Oh, and speaking of which, congratulations on your Viscount advancement. Tifana told me about it.

'Thank you. I wanted to talk to you about that. I'm actually going to be the lord of Drintle. It's known as an adventurer's city and famous: ...

Edin frowned at the mention of Drintle's name.

'So that's the city over there: .... They made me take another terrible place. The guild master of that place is called Lixit, and he was originally an S-class adventurer. He retired from adventuring due to the aftereffects of his injury and became a Guildmaster, but he doesn't have a fondness for power to begin with, so he's always in trouble with his lordship and gets kicked out with his guards. So it's supposed to be under the king's direct control now.

After all, Edin was only the head of the Adventurer's Guild Esfort Kingdom Headquarters, so he was well-informed.

''I'm thinking of going to Drintle once this coming weekend. First, not as a lord, but as an adventurer.''

Yeah. Yeah, I think I'll go check it out. I'll write a letter to Rickshaw too.

'It would have helped if you had. I wanted to keep things quiet, if possible.

That's impossible as expected. It's a good thing that you're not the only one who can do what you say, because that's the only person who will listen to you unless they are stronger than you. If anything happens, we'll just kick his ass.

Are you sure it's that easy?

It's like power is everything in that town. You just have to beat the shit out of them and the others will listen to you.

At Edin's appropriate reply, Cain sighs.

'I understand. I'll do my best.'

'I'll have a letter for you to-morrow, so just show up before you go to Drintle!

Yes, please.

Cain thanks Edin and leaves the office. After finishing the guild's business, I found Letia at the reception desk when I was leaving and waved my hand to thank her for what I did earlier, and she noticed and waved back, so I gladly left the guild.

''I've got a vague idea of what kind of city it is, but what kind of city is it?''

Cain muttered as he looked up at the sky.
