Chapter 20 - Gravity Decrease

Having finished his last sentence, saying that he is going to teach Yune by beating it into him, Noah Cain didn't give time for the dumbfounded Yune to respond and suddenly dashed forward and swung his sword at Yune.

Instinctually knowing that he wouldn't be able to counter the attack, or anything close to it, Yune immediately activated his mana to decrease his weight and jumped back as quick as he could, barely dodging the straightforward attack.

"How is that going to teach me?!" Yune shouted in a panicked voice.

"I don't know. This is kind of how I learned it." Noah Cain said as he shrugged his shoulders, to which Yune looked dumbfounded. "Yune just try to clear your mind, and while you fight, only think about how you want your powers to manifest."

The last sentence of Noah Cain's sounded calm and dependable. Yune immediately felt more relaxed as any useless thoughts left his mind, now the only thing left on his mind being: "Increase my weight, increase gravity!"

But a second later when Noah Cain lunged at Yune once again, he subconsciously used his weight to dodge Noah Cain's devastating blow.

Keeping this up for a good few minutes, Yune had only managed to keep dodging Noah Cain's attacks. But then, out of nowhere, Noah Cain increased his speed, closing the gap between him and Yune in an instant.

'No, I won't make it in time!' Yune thought as it had become to late to dodge the attack anymore. At that moment, Yune gritted his teeth. 'I am never going to be able to do anything if I just keep dodging.'

With this determination in mind, Yune didn't decrease his weight to dodge. Instead, Yune solidified his stance and moved his spear upwards to intercept Noah Cain's blade in a hope to parry it.

Having physically and mentally prepared as much as he could, Yune's spear clashed with Noah Cain's sword. Instantly, Yune felt his hand becoming numb as the weight of the Noah Cain's attack was much greater than Yune had expected, almost feeling insurmountably heavy.

Yune's attempt to parry the attack utterly failed as he didn't even manage to slow down the attack. Noah Cain's sword continued its downward slash unbothered, throwing Yune back several meters.

Flying back, Yune managed to catch his footing and land on his feet without sustaining much damage. However, from this one clash alone Yune's hands had become numb from the weight behind the attack, and his breathing had become heavy from the amount of energy he had exerted in that quick exchange.

But most of all, Yune's mental was shaken. 'Have all his attacks been so powerful? How am I supposed to stop such an attack?' Yune thought as he breathed heavy, keeping his eyes on Noah Cain expecting him to dash at him again.

However, Noah Cain didn't immediately dash towards Yune like normal. Not because he couldn't or because he wanted to let Yune catch his breath, but because Noah Cain was slightly startled. 'Oh, why didn't he dodge that one? That could have been dangerous, I put more weight behind that attack because I thought he would dodge it again.' Noah Cain thought, a nervous smile forming on his face.

This small moment that Noah Cain was distracted was all Yune needed.

In this short moment Yune's thoughts had turned a complete one hundred and eighty degrees from 'I can't possibly stop such an attack.' to 'I will stop the next attack!'. With this determination having formed, the flame deep inside of Yune had started to burn even brighter.

Seeing Yune still determined to continue, Noah Cain nervous smiled became a genuine one. 'Well, I guess I will have to oblige.' Noah Cain thought as he began his stride towards Yune.

Unlike last time, where Yune had no time to dodge, Yune was now just standing still waiting to confront the attack with all his might. Noah Cain now only a few meters away, he jumped. Thinking back at his previous attack, Yune's heart started to beat louder in anticipation, but he was determined to confront it.

Just like last time, Yune steadied his stance, gripped the spear as tight as he could and begun an attack of his own. Obviously this attack wasn't aimed at Noah Cain, instead, it was aimed at his sword.

Clashing against Noah Cain's sword before it had gained maximum momentum, the attack felt lighter than before. Shifting all his weight to the left side of his leg, Yune pushed on the spear with all his weight, altering the sword's attack path ever so slightly, just barely missing his body before slamming into the ground, creating a devastating tremor.

Yune was happy in the moment having parried the attack, but he knew that this was only the beginning. Quickly stepping back, Yune distanced himself from Noah Cain. At that moment, Yune saw a patch of cloth on Noah Cain's sword.

Shocked by this Yune looked at his left arm to see a good chuck of his jacket having been cleanly sliced off. Noticing this, Yune's heartbeat raised even more. 'What? Was it that close? That could have been my arm…' Yune thought worriedly before snapping back into focus as Noah Cain was once again leaping towards him.

The next attack was as close as the one before, with Yune only barely managing to change its path to avoid it from slicing him clean in half. And the next attack, or the one after that weren't much different. Either Yune barely parried it or he was thrown back from the impact of the attack.

Continuing this cycle, Yune was started to become ever so slightly more confident in himself to parry Noah Cain's sword.

However, at that moment, Noah Cain leaped in the air once again. Seemingly the same as every other attack he had done, but then he suddenly screamed: "This is going to be a heavy one! You won't be able to parry this one!"

Hearing this, Yune almost went back for his first instinct, dodging the attack. But no, Yune was determined to face this attack head on.

Widening his stance, Yune planted both his feet firmly on the ground and changed the grip on his spear as he placed it over his head. This time he wasn't going to try and alter the sword's trajectory, he was completely going to stop it!

Midway in the air, Noah Cain was surprised to see this, but couldn't help being amused by it. A smile from genuine joy appeared on his face as he continued his attack, swinging his sword down harder than he had done so far.

Clashing with the shaft of the spear, a heavy blow of the metal clashing against each other could be heard echoing through the gymnasium. This blow was incomparably heavy than any other attack so far, even more than Yune had expected as on of his knees gave in, falling to one knee because of the sheer impact of the attack.

Now on one knee, Yune was struggling to hold back the attack. And the attack was far from over as the pressure of Noah Cain's sword was only getting stronger and stronger.

His own spear digging deeper and deeper in his hands, Yune screamed out in pain, but didn't have any thought of giving up at all, putting his all into holding the attack.

Powering through this, Yune only managed to hold the attack back for a mere second, before his arms started to give out, Noah Cain's sword inching down, moving closer and closer to Yune's head.

His other knee also giving in, Yune was now on both on his knees, struggling to keep the attack back with his all. Feeling desperation in his losing effort, Yune was ready to give up.

Wanting to convey this feeling to Noah Cain, Yune looked Noah Cain in the eyes, whose eyes had a cold murderous gaze in them. 'He is really going to kill me...' Yune thought in shock, feeling like his life was really in danger, that he could die any second now.

With this feeling came desperation. Instantly all thoughts of giving up were washed away from his mind, and his body started to go into overdrive to hold back the descending sword. At that moment, a cold feeling appeared inside his body, the warmth he once felt was now completely gone, replaced by a terrible coldness.

Yune felt that the mana inside his body had become frozen over, becoming ice cold. Feeling this, something just clicked in Yune's mind.

Immediately, Yune instinctively activated as much mana as he could, and immediately his whole body felt heavy, but at the same time, it felt stronger, sturdier, and the pressure from Noah Cain's sword felt lighter in comparison.

With this burst of newfound strength, Yune started lifting his arms up, pushing the sword away from his head with his spear. Continuing this, Yune's now unshakably body got back up one on his feet, and then another before he explosively pushed his legs upwards, parrying the sword.

With this fight having caught every student's attention, everyone was now staring at Yune in amazement. Even Noah Cain was shocked. But most of all Yune, who knew what had happened, felt euphoric.

'I did it… I increased gravity!' Yune thought, standing proudly on both his feet.

But soon after, Yune started falling down. His body feeling heavy as Yune had exerted all his energy, and his body now literally being heavier after having used his powers to increase the effect gravity on his body.

Before he could fall to the ground, however, Noah Cain caught him. "I think something just clicked in your mind right? I said it, didn't I, haha!" Noah Cain said, a warm smile greeting Yune before he closed his eyes.

'But what was the power you just used..?' Noah Cain thought, having become a little curious about Yune's powers after now having experienced it firsthand. 'That is definitely not the power of someone with a body strengthening mark.'
