Chapter 14 - B1C14: Recognition

The next day dawned with anticipation and excitement in the air. The training camp had transformed the arena into a grand battle platform by combining the ten rings. The platform stood as a symbol of the challenges and trials that awaited the participants. As word spread about the impending battle, the number of spectators grew, eager to witness the clash of these two formidable young warriors. The presence of additional guards signalled the importance of the event, ensuring the safety and order of the surroundings.

A magnificent viewing platform was erected on the palace, offering a vantage point for the onlookers to observe every move with clarity. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation, and the camp buzzed with speculation about the outcome of the battle. However, amidst the bustling activity and the increasing crowd, none of it mattered to the two boys standing in the centre of the ring.

Caleb, determined and focused, positioned himself at one end of the arena. His grip tightened around the heavy 70 kg spear, a testament to the importance of the battle. This was his chance to showcase his true potential and give his all. Caleb was aware of the reputation that preceded Alex, who had displayed impressive skills during his battle with Osmos. The news of their intense duel had spread like wildfire throughout the camp, capturing the attention and curiosity of everyone. Caleb understood that he could not afford to be careless or underestimate his opponent.

Meanwhile, Alex, standing at the opposite end of the ring, held a training one-hand sword in his right hand. His body radiated a unique glow, signifying his connection to his innate abilities. The ethereal light that enveloped him hinted at the power and potential he possessed. There was an air of mystery surrounding Alex, and his presence in the battle added an extra layer of intrigue.

As the two young warriors prepared themselves mentally and physically, their focus was solely on each other. The bustling activity and the growing audience faded into the background, leaving only the imminent clash of their skills and determination. They shared a silent understanding that this battle would be a defining moment in their journey.

The captain, serving as the referee and supervisor of the camp, stepped forward to address the crowd and the combatants. His authoritative voice echoed across the arena, commanding attention and respect. "Alex, although you joined the program late, you have proven yourself and earned your place among the top ranks. Caleb, your unwavering determination has also propelled you to this position of strength. Both of you stand as the shining stars of this batch," the captain proclaimed, acknowledging their exceptional talents.

"I hope today's battle will not only provide us with an exhilarating spectacle but also serve as a testament to your mutual respect and dedication. Before we commence, I invite you to introduce yourselves," the captain continued, emphasising the importance of recognizing and acknowledging each other's journeys and accomplishments.

With the captain's words hanging in the air, Alex stepped forward, radiating confidence. "I am Alex, blessed with the Light, a Disciple Rank cultivator, and currently at the Mortal Body Stage 4," he announced, his voice clear and unwavering.

Caleb followed suit, standing tall and proud. "I am Caleb, blessed with the power of Lightning, a Believer Rank cultivator and at Unity of the Mortal Body," he declared, his voice carrying the weight of determination.

The crowd erupted in a mixture of astonishment and awe. The revelation of two rare and formidable blessings had surpassed their expectations. Whispers of excitement and anticipation filled the arena as everyone realised the magnitude of the battle about to unfold. Even the captain, known for his strict demeanour, couldn't help but show a flicker of amazement. He quickly regained his composure and silenced the murmurs with a commanding gesture.

"Quiet! It is our privilege to witness the growth of two future powerhouses. Now, let the battle begin!" the captain declared, his voice resounding with authority.

With the captain's signal, the atmosphere became charged with energy. Alex, channelling his abilities, activated his skill, causing his body to emit a dazzling light that temporarily blinded those standing close to the ring. Caleb, prepared for such a situation, swiftly adjusted, employing the first form of the serpentine stance, "Snake Body." This form highlighted the need for flexibility, allowing him to dodge and evade Alex's initial onslaught.

Undeterred, Alex continued his assault, seeking to catch Caleb off guard. Caleb, relying on the essence of his spear art rather than its mere forms, abandoned the notion of retreating. He focused on unleashing the full potential of his chosen weapon, utilising his skills to their maximum capacity.

Their clash intensified as they exchanged a flurry of strikes, their weapons colliding with sparks filling the air. Caleb's mastery of spear art became evident as he gradually gained the upper hand in terms of strength and technique. Alex, trained in high-level sword arts, showcased his skill and adaptability. However, his reliance on faith energy proved disadvantageous as his reserves depleted. He struggled to absorb enough faith energy to compensate for the energy expended during the intense battle.

Like a dragon asserting its dominance, Caleb channelled all his strength, sending a powerful thrust of his spear directly into Alex's light shield, shattering it into countless fragments. The force of the impact sent Alex tumbling backwards, landing on the ground with a thud.

The crowd erupted in a mixture of astonishment and applause. The captain, with a hint of pride in his voice, announced, "Caleb wins!" The sound of congratulations filled the air, celebrating Caleb's victory.

As the captain addressed the remaining children, he seized the opportunity to impart a valuable lesson. "I hope each one of you will remember this battle. Witnessing a fight at the top is a glimpse of the heights you can reach with dedication and perseverance. Reflect upon this experience and use it as motivation to make your own breakthroughs. Dismissed!"

However, before Caleb could fully immerse himself in the celebration, he heard a familiar voice calling out to him. Alex, slowly rising from the ground, beckoned him to pause. Next to him stood the former rank two, a golden-haired girl, assisting Alex in retrieving his fallen sword.

"My name is Alex, and I am from the Silvethorn Clan. You might have met Lumia, my cousin. We hail from Azurewind City. It's a pleasure to meet you," Alex introduced himself and the girl, extending a hand of friendship.

From behind Alex, another person stepped forward, introducing himself with a hint of enthusiasm. "I'm Osmos, from the Ironhide Clan in Blackroot City. A pleasure to meet you," he said, extending a hand in greeting.

Lumia chimed in, acknowledging Caleb's strength and offering her admiration. "Although we don't know which clan you are from, we recognize your exceptional skills. You truly deserve the victory. Not just anyone can defeat Alex, the Young Master of the Silverthorn Clan."

Caleb smiled, appreciating their kind words. "I'm Caleb, from a branch of the Levi Clan in Free City. It's my pleasure to meet all of you," he replied warmly, shaking their hands.
