Time passed slowly as a young child practising with his spear on a small hill overlooking the valley. His wet clothing was dripping with sweat, yet his gaze remained focused. The child managed to re-grab the spear after it flew out of his hand with a thrust. He moved like a beast let loose, swinging the spear as though fighting a fierce battle with an illusory foe.
"Caleb, in just two years you've learned the basic spear art? It appears that I underestimated you. You are a spearman by birth," his master exclaimed. "Your body cultivation has advanced to the Mortal rank Bone Tempering stage. You are a true enthusiast for cultivation. As you have chosen your own path, it seems there is nothing more I can share with you regarding bodily cultivation.
Caleb had established a foundation for the development of his faith cultivation, but his master emphasised that he still needed to explore his inner realm. Caleb was informed by his teacher that most members of the main clan had been nurtured from infancy, making his current level equivalent to their beginning position two years ago. Caleb had to excavate his foundation into the inner space by opening up his three minor meridians in order to move from being a Believer to a Disciple. One was at the nape of his neck, and the other two were on the palm of his hands. To adequately take advantage of his blessings, he has to at least achieve Deacon rank in Faith cultivation.
The teacher said that Caleb should have nearly attained the first level of heart cultivation, called the Way of the Heart, based on the "Songs of Solomon" scripture.
The Grand Elder was impressed with Caleb's commitment and effort over the previous two years of training. He told Caleb about a wonderful chance for further development. A training camp for kids ages ten would be held by one of the Grand Elder's close friends from Silvermoon City. Two slots had been reserved for the clan, and Caleb had also been given a spot because of the Grand Elder's connections. The Grand Elder advised Caleb to seize this chance, absorb as much information as he could, and advance swiftly. The lightning talent Thunder Strike was one among the awards in the camp. Caleb, however, had to earn the skill on his own merit.
Caleb didn't have to go home because his mother already knew about the training camp. The other chosen kids would be gathered in the clan hall in the morning, and he was told to go there right away.
Caleb's master said, "Remember, Caleb, you are representing the entire Levi clan."
I agree, Master! Thank you for the chance. I promise not to let you down," Caleb assured him.
Taking his spear which has been upgraded to 15kg during the two years of training, Caleb bowed to his master before slowly making his way to the clan hall. Due to his training with the Caleb had little contact with the rest of the clan, therefore it was odd to see him at the clan at this hour of the day. While he waited, he found a quiet spot in the hall, crossed his legs, and went into meditation.
After a while, Elder Rock and Tobias entered the hall with another young child.
The three of you have been chosen to represent our clan at the training camp in Silvermoon City, Elder Rock said. This is a chance for us to socialise with other clans and families in Moonlight Country and build connections that could be useful in the future. Although the training may be difficult, the benefits will be plentiful. Keep in mind that scouts from the countries three academies will be watching your every move. For your future, this two-year training camp is essential.
Young Master Tobias doesn't require an introduction; the clan has chosen him to attend. Asher was chosen as the second candidate to attend because he is also a disciple of the main clan. As one of the Grand Elder's nominees, Caleb will be attending. The three of you hold the clan's reputation in your hands.
When the group was prepared, Elder Rock said, "Let's go."
The three brown horses stood tall and sturdy, their muscular frames exuding strength and endurance. Their rich, chestnut coats gleamed under the morning sunlight, a reflection of their good health and vitality. Each horse had a unique personality that shone through their gentle eyes and confident stances.
The first brown horse possessed a fiery spirit that matched its name. With a sleek and streamlined build, it radiated energy and enthusiasm. Its mane flowed freely in the wind, and its expressive eyes sparkled with a touch of mischief. The horse's spirit was infectious, and it seemed ready to embark on the journey with unbridled excitement.
The second brown horse had a calmer disposition. Its serene presence seemed to radiate a sense of tranquillity and wisdom. Its coat had a soft, golden hue that caught the sunlight, giving it an ethereal glow. The horse stood with a regal posture, its gentle gaze revealing a depth of understanding and patience. It seemed well-suited for long journeys and had an air of reliability.
The third brown horse was known for its reliability and endurance. Its build was robust and powerful, showcasing its ability to carry heavy burdens and traverse challenging terrains. With a warm and friendly demeanour, The horse showed a sense of loyalty and dependability. Its deep brown eyes reflected a calm and steadfast nature, assuring Caleb that it would be a reliable companion on their journey.
Amongst these three, Elder Rock's shiny black horse stood out with its sleek and majestic appearance. Its jet-black coat glistened, giving it an aura of elegance and strength. The horse carried itself with confidence and grace, its every movement displaying a harmonious blend of power and grace. It seemed to embody Elder Rock's authority and wisdom, a trusted partner that had traversed countless paths alongside the elder.
As Caleb observed the horses, he couldn't help but feel a mix of awe and excitement. But the determination to use every opportunity to hone his skills shone in his eyes as he stared at the third horse.
"Elder Rock, may I run all the way there? I believe I can keep up," Caleb innocently asked. Caleb's earnest gaze met Elder Rock's weathered eyes, filled with determination and a touch of innocence. The elder contemplated Caleb's request, his brows furrowing momentarily before a faint smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
"Caleb, you have always been an unconventional one, it seems the Grand Elders' praises of you have not been overrated at all.," Elder Rock remarked, his voice laced with both amusement and admiration. "Very well, if you believe you can keep up, I shall not hold you back."
Caleb's face lit up with excitement, grateful for the elder's understanding. He stepped back from the horses, taking a few steps to distance himself before adopting a focused stance. With a deep breath, he channelled his energy, tapping into the teachings of his martial journey.
His body seemed to vibrate with a newfound energy as he unleashed his cultivation, his muscles tightening and his senses sharpening. Caleb's form blurred momentarily as his movements took on an otherworldly grace. The ground beneath his feet seemed to tremble in anticipation as he prepared to embark on this unique journey.
Elder Rock exchanged a knowing glance with Tobias and Asher, who had witnessed Caleb's extraordinary abilities firsthand. With a nod, the elder signalled for the group to set off, their horses hooves thundering against the earth as they galloped forward. Caleb, however, needed no horse to carry him, for he was his own steed.
As the trio of horses and Caleb, the fleet-footed disciple, surged ahead, a sense of camaraderie and adventure filled the air. The wind whipped against Caleb's face, his hair streaming behind him like a dark banner. His legs carried him swiftly, each step a testament to his unwavering spirit and unyielding determination.
Through sprawling fields and dense forests they journeyed, the landscape blurring into a colourful tapestry as Caleb maintained his relentless pace. His breath came in measured gasps, a rhythmic cadence that echoed the pounding of his heart. With every stride, he drew closer to his destination, the city on the horizon beckoning him with its promises of growth.
As they approached the outskirts of Silvermoon City, Caleb's figure stood out amidst the vibrant surroundings. Passersby paused, their gazes lingering on the extraordinary sight of a young boy running behind a group of horses. Whispers of awe and curiosity spread through the crowd as Caleb weaved through the bustling streets, his determination and skill captivating the onlookers.
Finally, Caleb reached the city gates, his breath coming in exhilarated gasps, The trio on horseback were already waiting for him. Elder Rock dismounted his black horse, his face mirroring a mixture of surprise and pride at Caleb's incredible feat.
"Well done, Caleb," Elder Rock said, his voice brimming with genuine admiration. "You have proven once again that you possess a spirit unbound by convention. Your journey has just begun, and I have no doubt that you will continue to surpass expectations."
Caleb's chest swelled with a mixture of pride and exhaustion as he stood amidst the vibrant streets of Silvermoon City, his body glistening with sweat. The gazes of the city's inhabitants were fixed upon him, a mixture of curiosity and admiration emanating from their eyes.
With a triumphant smile, Caleb turned to face Elder Rock, gratitude shining in his eyes. "Thank you, Elder Rock," he said, his voice filled with sincere appreciation. "I am ready for whatever challenges await me in this city. I will make the most of this opportunity."
And with those words, Caleb stepped forward, his heart brimming with anticipation as he embarked on a new chapter of his martial journey within the enchanting realm of Silvermoon City.
