Chapter 10 - I Agree

" We meet again. Again " Liam said with a smirk printed on his face.

Lucia stared at Liam in utter disbelief, she opened her mouth to say something but closed it immediately. She turned around to see if anyone was staring at them, but to her greatest surprise, no one did as much as to look at her desk let alone the both of them.

She turned once again facing Liam Henderson, she found it hard to believe that the boss of this Empire would stand in front of the reception desk to have a conversation with the receptionist.

" The last time that I checked we were not meant to meet again, I guess you didn't do too well in ensuring that, " Liam said, still smirking. He rested so casually on the high desk, one would think he's talking to his girlfriend and not his receptionist.

Lucia finally realized that he had seen her earlier on, and he knew that she knew rather figured out who he was.

" Liam Henderson " Lucia finally said after a long while of keeping mute

" You finally figured that out I see, judging from the way you kept calling me by my christian name I could tell you're in for a lot of surprise " Liam explained

" You're talking a lot more than usual, I thought you were the type who'd execute whatever he wants to do before giving an explanation but listening to you explain is quite shocking " Lucia retorted, her eyes grew darker

" It comes and goes right now I feel like talking, tomorrow I might feel the way you described " Liam replied calmly, ignoring how rude she was

" Let me guess why you're here talking to me right now... " Lucia paused for a while.

" 1. To apologize

2. To ask me to resign

3. To reiterate your idea. Which is it? " Lucia asked, earning herself a subtle chuckle from Liam.

Lucia frowned on seeing that he was laughing at her, she was so confused because she couldn't find anything funny in whatever she had just said.

" It's not the first one " Liam started

" Neither the second... I intend to keep my private life separate from my work life

" But the third one... Maybe " Liam smirked at Lucia and she hissed in disgust.

As much as she wished to rip that smirk off his handsome face, she knew there was nothing she could do.

" No thanks... I'd rather resign " Lucia replied, folding her hands across her chest, looking away to prove her resolve.

" Really? " Liam teased bending in a little closer

" Then go ahead and quit " Liam continued, his smirk disappearing from his face only to resurface when he had gotten the desired reaction he wanted from Lucia.

" I thought you said you keep your private and work lives separate... So why should I resign? " Lucia asked nervously, unable to believe he had just said that.

Liam chuckled lightly baffled by her ability to change her tone so easily

" I thought about it throughout the afternoon... " Liam started

" Hmm? Thought about what? "Lucia asked confused

" Pretending... Why should I pretend not to know you... I mean, it should be normal for you but not for me I own this place " Liam continued talking mostly to himself than to Lucia

" You know it's sadder for me because it's English you're speaking and I still don't understand a thing " Lucia scoffed

" What I mean is... " Liam was about to say before Lucia cut in

" I understand what you're saying, I mean why are you saying it to me? " Lucia asked

" You asked why I was here " Liam deadpanned

Lucia's phone started vibrating as a ridiculous alarm went off

" It's time to go off work. Yay freedom " The alarm blared

Lucia immediately reached down to her phone and turned off the alarm. She chuckled lightly, feeling embarrassed most especially because she was in front of her boss. Luckily for her, due to Liam's presence, no one dared to laugh.

Surprisingly, Liam was not laughing at her, he had a puzzled expression instead.

" You barely started work today and you already have an alarm to inform you of when the day's ending. Worker of the century " Liam commented

" It's not like that... " Lucia tried to explain but dropped the thought of it.

" Go home and think of my offer... Set an alarm for it so you don't forget " Liam teased as he turned towards the elevator and left.

" Look at him acting as if he does not need me " Lucia hissed and picked up her phone and bag.

" Obnoxious " Lucia muttered and walked towards the entrance door, leaving the company.

Outside the company, Lucia walked to the nearest bus station and sat down waiting for the next bus to come.

She brought out her phone from her bag to check her previous messages, she saw one from her mom and excitedly tapped on it.

"Congratulations on your first day on the job, I hope you didn't get on anyone's bad side. Don't let anyone push you around OK? " The message said

" What type of message is this? " Lucia laughed

" Yes Mom " Lucia typed a reply and sent it.

Lucia sighted a bus coming from afar and stood up ready to enter the bus quickly, apparently bus drivers tend to get vicious at evenings especially when the passengers takes too long to get in. As she got seated, she received a message from Jada.

" Have you gotten off work? " The message read

" Yes... Anything for me? " Lucia asked and Jada immediately replied with a sticker.

Lucia placed her phone back into her bag and focused on the beautiful road scenery as the bus drove freely along the traffic.

Lucia got home overly exhausted, she took the elevator to the fourth floor where her apartment was. She punched in her passcode and twisted the door knob open.

She flung her bag to one end of the room and her shoes to another before collapsing onto the soft bed.

She was about drifting to sleep when the doorbell rang, she reluctantly pushed herself off the bed and walked towards the door and opened it

" Hello you called for... " The house maintenance guy was saying before Lucia interrupted

" Can you come tomorrow? I'm really exhausted right now, " Lucia pleaded and the man left.

Just as Lucia was about to fall asleep again, the doorbell rang

" Are you fucking kidding me " Lucia groaned and strolled to the door

" Hello Miss Jada sent this cake, can you please sign here? " A cake delivery guy said to a half awake Lucia.

" Don't bother about the signature gimme the cake " Lucia said and the delivery guy complied

Lucia closed the door and looked closely at the cake in her hands as a smile touched the corner of her mouth.

" I'll thank her tomorrow... I'm tired " Lucia confessed and dropped the cake on a nightstand.

She plopped herself down on the bed and just when she thought it was finally over, she heard another door bell sound.

" Arrgh " Lucia groaned and pushed herself off the bed with the last ounce of strength she had.

" What do you want? " Lucia asked exasperatedly, once she opened the door.

" Miss Camden? " Kyle's calm voice resonated in Lucia's head

" You "

Henderson Villa

Liam came out of the bathroom with a towel strapped around his waist, water dripping from his hair to his body and then to the ground.

" Where did Kyle go off to? " Liam wondered, he was really surprised when Kyle zoomed off without saying anything to him or following him in to ensure he was OK.

His phone rang suddenly bringing him back from his thought, he checked the caller ID and it was Maria Lewis.

" Hey Mia " Liam said as he picked up the call

" I'm close to the villa... Is it okay for me to drop by? " Maria asked

" Of course " Liam replied

" On my way " Maria said excitedly and hung up.

Liam immediately picked out a nightwear and got changed into it, before a knock came on the door.

" Young Master, a lady is here to see you, " Liam's butler said from outside the door.

" I'm coming " Liam replied

' That was quick ' Liam thought and twisted the knob of the door leading him out of the room to the staircase. He briskly walked to the entrance of the villa when a lady stood holding a cake, with her back turned towards him.

" What's the celebration Mia? " Liam put on a smile, but to his greatest surprise it wasn't Mia.

Lucia turned to face Liam, her eyes caught sight of his mesmerizing and dazzling face, his beautiful blue eyes, and his spikey jet black hair that was still dripping out little drops of water.

The cake almost slipped out of her hands but luckily Liam stepped in and placed a hand under the cake box.

Being so close to her due to the situation they were in, Liam had a perfect view of her face, her beautiful features that stood out and her lovely brown eyes. It felt as though they were both in a trance and Lucia was the first to snap out of it.

" I agree " Lucia said, snapping Liam out of his trance.

" Huh? " Liam asked confused

" I agree to be your fiancée, " Lucia repeated.
