Joe had a rough start in life. Growing up, he never had the privilege of living in a house with a loving family who would provide for his every need. He lived in a rough neighbourhood with his mother, who refused to work and relied on welfare to get by.
Joe remembers long nights where he would go to bed on an empty stomach and wake up to the sound of his mother crying in the corner of their cramped apartment. He knew that life did not have to be this way, but he also knew that he would have to do something about it.
Joe turned to sports and found solace on the basketball court. He quickly realised that he had a natural talent and worked hard to perfect his craft. His teachers and coaches pushed him to be the best that he could be. They recognised his potential, but Joe knew that he had to work harder than anyone else to achieve his goals.
When it came time for college, Joe was offered a scholarship to play basketball for a prestigious university in the city. He packed his bags, said goodbye to his mother and moved into his dormitory.
College was a different world for Joe. He had never been surrounded by so many people who were intelligent, motivated and ambitious. He had friends from all different walks of life but found himself constantly feeling like he did not quite fit in.
Joe found himself struggling with his schoolwork. He was used to a regime that was focused on basketball, and he struggled with the academic rigour of college. His scholarship was on the line, and he knew that he could not let his grades slip.
Joe began to stay up late, study hard and focus on his academics. He found a new level of determination and drive that he did not realise he had. His grades improved, and he started to excel in his classes.
During his third year of college, Joe got into a serious accident that left him with a broken leg. Doctors told him that he would never play basketball again. The injury devastated him, and he struggled to find meaning in his life.
After months of feeling sorry for himself, Joe realised that he had more to offer than basketball. He remembered the struggle of his struggle growing up in poverty. He knew that he wanted to do something to help others who were in similar situations.
Joe started volunteering at youth centres and organisations that focused on helping underprivileged children. He used his charisma, passion and energy, to inspire and motivate young children to chase their dreams and never give up.
Joe realised that he had a talent for motivating people, and he began to pursue a career in motivational speaking. He started small by speaking at local high schools and universities, but soon he was invited to speak at conferences and public event
