WILL
I've just glanced at my watch for the second time when Rico finally shows up. I asked to meet him in his school's parking lot and I was starting to think he decided to take a different route to avoid me. When I reached out to him and said it was about Cat, his reaction was not nearly as hostile as Elena's but not exactly friendly either.
He looks tired but he downplays it when I ask if he's been resting enough.
"Don't try to brother me just because you're dating my sister," he warns. "You're not good enough for her, by the way. She will come to her senses and ditch your ass soon enough."
I smile, because he's right—half-right, anyway. Cat is a wonderful woman. No man on earth is good enough for her. But I'm going to spend every waking moment of my life making myself the perfect man for her.
To Rico's jab, I say, "Oh yeah? Have you tried having that discussion with her?"
