ELEVEN MONTHS LATER
CAT
The darkness is stifling. The only source of light is too far away, but at least I have someone holding my hand, helping me drag myself towards it.
Once in a while, I hear his gentle, soothing voice as he speaks to me, sometimes singing to me softly.
All of a sudden, I'm alone and I panic. I pat around for his hand in vain.
No… he can't have left me too!
It must be a nightmare. I have to wake up from it.
Opening my eyes feels like a tremendous task and I have to use herculean force to do it. I'm instantly overwhelmed with blinding lights from right above my eyes.
I hear an argument from somewhere. When my eyes finally start to adjust to the unwelcome lights, two men come into view. They are yelling about something but I can't follow.
