"Are you really my mother?" I shout at the door.
I know Mother is scowling on the other side when she says "I will not let you two knuckleheads leave until you talk it out."
She's taken on the tone one would use to give a child an ultimatum. Something like "No dessert until dinner is done".
Speaking of dessert, I'm on the verge of drooling at the thought of the cherry pie in the refrigerator.
"If you dare touch an inch of that pie, Catalina Rossi, I will feed your fingers to the dogs!" I hear a yell from afar before my fingertips can so much as graze the fridge door. I swear, that woman has superhuman hearing abilities.
Will laughs at my plight. "She didn't say I couldn't touch it, did she? Maybe I could take the pie and feed it to you…then you wouldn't have touched it?"
The thought of Will feeding me is tempting.
I almost say it's a good idea but I remember why were in this kitchen to begin with.
