Though the Guardian City Formation was Linzi's main defensive mechanism, the noteworthy aristocratic clans and martial halls all possessed defensive formations of their own, activating them whenever they clashed with other clans, or in the rare case that the city gates were breached by enemy forces. With most of the leaders and clan masters trapped in Zi Xian's court, the elders took charge, having their direct descendants take refuge behind the defensive formations.
As the lords of Linzi, the Dongfang clan had no choice but to send out its personal troops and lead the warriors of the City Guard. But that didn't mean that they would risk the lives of their clan juniors. Like all other young nobles, the Dongfang juniors currently hid in the comfort of their massive courtyards, enjoying tea, wine and parties as the capital of the eastern province turned into a bloodbath.
