Chapter 320 - Hero?

"Looks like something fun is happening ahead, let's check it first." Adam turned to the right. He felt some presence full of life and malice that way. As for the normal humans they seemed to continue their lives beyond this block.

'This looks like a normal day for them.' He thought watching the battle in the street below from a high-rise building.

Down there a buff man with hands as wide as his body slapped several people who dressed up funny, spandex, and whatnot.

"I, the Giant Tuna Catcher will smash everything up! You bastard keep driving the prices up but pay us in dirt! I will let you feel the strength of those hands that fed you till now!!" Horns jutted out of his head along with a large fin that protruded from the top of his bald head.

But, before he could move several spurts of white liquid landed on his body. The streams solidified and stuck to the ground to hold him in place.

"The sticky liquid is on him! He won't be able to move anymore!!" The Class A hero, Sticky Stickler shouted to rally up other Class A and B heroes to attack the immobilized villain.

The band of 10 rushed forward with weapons in hand or barehanded. But, they got smacked away by the giant hands that dwarfed their forms.

"Argh!"

"He can still move!"

"Y-You said that he couldn't!"

Lying on the ground in their blood and tears the heroes looked at Sticky Stickler, he was just as shocked. In front of his eyes, the white liquid slid off the Villain's body as he walked forward.

"With this special oil that I produce on my skin, nothing can hold me down, Tututuna! Now go and bring me, King! He is the only one worthy of fighting me!" The tuna catcher laughed when the groveling heroes shrunk back in fear.

"Don't underestimate us! Someone like you doesn't need King's involvement!" Sticky stickler shouted sending several lines of white liquid to hold down the villain this time trying to drench his entire body. He planned to outlast the Villain's oil production, but it all slid off his body.

"Maybe he'll come if I destroy this city, hmm?" Standing in front of him, the tuna catcher stared him down.

That wasn't a simple threat. This villain would do it. As heroes, they can't put the civilians in danger. Since King was called to City A for an emergency meeting, the responsibility to defend the city fell on them. This city could become one of the safest in the nation because of King, but even if he wasn't here they should still not let this place be dirtied by villains.

"I will preserve the peace that king has brou—!" But before he could finish his proclamation he was slapped into the nearby rubble.

Sticky stickler could only watch with his blurry vision. The villain walked all over their combined force and now wanted to reach the countless civilians whom they couldn't protect. Right at that moment he saw the villain walking towards two people.

A man dressed in office clothes with a woman in a blue maid uniform. The combination was as weird as their presence in that area. They looked like normal people.

'No… what are civilians doing here?' Sticky Stickler tried to stand up but his spine had received damage, even moving was not possible. He couldn't move at all as the other heroes also didn't look any better.

If it continued like this, the two people would get killed. He knew how strong that Villain was. However, nothing of the sort happened. Before reaching them, the villain came to a creaky halt.

'Why is it suddenly cold…?' Sticky stickler shivered.

The liquid he launched despite his inability to move also froze mid-air before crumbling to the ground. Similar to that the villain too, crumbled like it was a sand sculpture that faced an ocean wave.

The heroes watched with eyes wide open as the source of the cold became easy to locate. The maid had this chilly aura around them that got their teeth clattering. Her red eyes surveyed the area making them turn away.

'She killed a villain that defeated five A ranks like nothing! Just what is her rank? I don't think I have seen someone as strong as her.' Sticky stickler couldn't understand as the man walked towards him.

"It looks like you got hurt pretty bad." He said with a calming voice, it made him forget the pain that burned through his spine.

In truth it would take Sticky Stickler a month to recover, and another month before he could get back into action. He wasn't a front liner so his body was weaker, that was why that attack dealt more damage to him than it should've. He wondered if this guy would call an ambulance for them.

But instead of reaching for his pocket, the man's hand came towards him. The hand glowed in a golden hue that seeped into his body. And in no time the injuries vanished.

"Huh… w-what?" The other heroes shared their surprise about the man who healed after him.

The gashes, broken and cracked bones, back pain, joint pains, old wounds, and scars. That simple touch healed them of every problem they had, it was a miracle.

"W-Wait…!" Seeing them leave without another word, Sticky Stickler called out to them.

The man looked back confused.

"Are you a hero too?" At his question the man shook his head to deny, "Then why did you save us?"

"Do I need to be a hero to save someone?" The man's question left him stumped, "Well then, until next time."

Seeing that none of them could answer, he left in the company of the maid.

Not just Sticky Stickler, every one of the heroes couldn't understand that. To them, saving people meant being a hero. But, his question opened their eyes. Do you really have to be a hero to save others? Countless people saved others by doing their jobs. They never asked for recognition and continued to do so in silence, saving the day again and again.

'So… cool.' Sticky Stickler had become a fan.

And not him alone, a little distance away at another high-rise building. A figure dressed in white saw the two leave and gave a subtle nod.

"Healing huh… that's interesting." The tan-skinned girl with white hair showed her surprise at the ability.

However, instead of chasing after her curiosity, she decided to complete the task given to her by her father.

'With the Class S heroes locked in battle at A City, the rest of us have to keep the other cities safe from Villains that pop up.' Although she wasn't a hero, the task of protecting the people was something she wouldn't back out from.

Given how short-staffed the Hero association was, the villains could capitalize and attack the cities where heroes had spread thin. That was why everyone who could help started to patrol the cities to prevent further damage. If those two hadn't stepped in to stop that villain, she was about to do so herself.

"One doesn't have to be a hero to save others, huh? …If fate allows it, we'd meet again." With a smile Yuta vanished from the building, her next destination was City S.
