Chapter 248 - The Sea

"Type of Divinity?" Nore didn't expect that curveball.

'Don't tell me he can already…?' Her eyes widened noticing how nonchalant he was about this.

Adam could already distinguish between different divinities and use them according to his will. And can transfer a specific type to the target if needed?

'It took me a million years just to know that there are different types of Divinity—even for two gods of the same Profession—it was influenced by their lives, experiences, and the followers after they attain Godhood...' Nore was speechless, how could he know that in mere eight thousand years, much less transfer it like he was handing out candy?

This took an extreme level of study and dedication to the Profession—as giving your divinity is similar to imparting a part of yourself—if not careful that could backfire and one can lose that part of their powers entirely. This level of understanding can never be achieved in the years he has lived, and it was a norm that had been established by thousands of Gods, but not for him.

"What are you thinking so deeply about?" Adam asked getting no answer from her.

He wondered if she wouldn't agree to his deal, it wasn't like he had no idea of what he asked for. Even if he did all of the work, the impact of this would be pretty pronounced for her and the world.

But he didn't see that as a problem, even if the world she looked over was about the size of Jupiter from the solar system he knew of. This world faced a severe problem, which was overpopulation.

The reason the Goddess of Sex and Fertility had to summon him, was because this sex-crazed mob allowed it to fester long enough for the Demon king to conquer half of the Planet as they had their fun trying to increase the population, so according to him it could use a halt.

'Should I sweeten the deal?' Leaving all of his personal feelings aside, Adam supposed he could let her profit a bit more, but there was no need.

"Adam, I will do this for you." Nore had done that for him, the solemn expression showed how serious this was when she uttered the next words, "In return you need to answer a question of mine… It is fine if you don't want to though!"

"Hmm, shoot." He already had a hunch of what type of question it would be, the secret to sensing the uniqueness in divinity, and how to set them apart.

It can be a loaded question for others as it involves the inner workings of their Godhood, but to Adam—who had many of these professions—it wouldn't affect him as he had other unknown options.

But it was something else. Nore didn't want to ask him for the secret of his ridiculously robust Divinity—as curious as she was.

"You could've left this world before achieving Godhood in all professions as I spoke of. Talking to you now, surely you had the necessary abilities, why did you not leave?" She asked.

This question has been on her mind for years now, but there was no answer to it. For this long, she had been unable to ask him about it as keeping herself together in his presence was tough enough.

Adam didn't like her and he made that very clear with the pure hostility he had in the handful of meetings they had. And even with the possibility to talk with her and end his solitude, he only ever contacted her for one question. Aside from that, he hadn't talked with her properly since the moment they first met, and now while making this deal.

So, armed with the chance she wanted to know the real reason why he didn't leave. There was only one possible answer to this knowing him, but that possibility made her mouth run dry.

"Hmm, I thought you were aware why. I suppose that is why you never waved that fact in front of me when I pushed you around." Adam only confirmed it later when he met her the last time, but it wouldn't change his approach to how he left the world. She was right there was only one answer to his actions.

"While I was researching for ways to increase my lifespan down there, I noticed the presence of a change in the body of the subjects—no matter the race, tribe or environment—a change that was made on the spirit level, the work of Divine power far beyond what any of the Gods I have seen were capable of." The more he spoke the colder she felt.

He had that sort of ability that far back? At the time he should've been around seventy—the average lifespan for his world—so how could he know that the Goddess of Wishes was involved in the change among the mortal species?

'No it isn't possible, what about his reaction that day?' There were still some inconsistencies, especially in the actions he took the day he met the Creator. But this was just a matter of perspective and knowledge, for Nore who didn't even know what Adam was capable of till now, and when he truly realized this fact. She had no idea of knowing why he did that, but as they were making a deal…

"I know what you are thinking, I always thought that training divinity was like shaping a big block of stone into a sculpture, and then maintaining it as you slowly strengthen the rock. But that wasn't the case for her, she handled Divinity like water. It never stayed in one form and changed depending on her actions(in the moment), that is why I couldn't recognize her straight away." The golden liquid flowed around him like a snake floating in the air before forming a small sphere on his palm, slowly changing its color to form a blue planet with clouds and mountains. Adam was a little ashamed, in his mind he was talented at handling Divinity after his meticulous research into the subject.

But he took that lesson well, and while watching her closely by any means— be it cooking or her coming to visit him—he was able to understand how it worked, at least a part of it.

"All rivers flow into the same sea, it is a popular saying in my world. I have been trying to do it lately, but I still have ways to go." He shook his head as the Blue sphere fell apart along with the different divinities mixed into it.

The Goddess on the other hand was flabbergasted, how was this possible? Was this a joke? Looking at his serious expression probably not, but she would much rather appreciate it being a joke. That way she wouldn't go crazy thinking about this, and there was another way to do that.

"You are saying that you didn't leave the world forcefully because while researching you noticed the traces left behind by the Goddess of Wishes?" He nodded to her words, it was the most straightforward explanation for the reasons he stayed for that long.

Knowing that there was an entity far stronger than the Goddess of Sex and Fertility, he kept training with his head down and tried to exit through a normal way unless he was sure of defeating the Unknown God. But even after accomplishing Godhood for all of his professions, the plan of defeating her was not viable.

All rivers flow into the same Sea—and that Sea was her.

'I don't think it is possible even now, but now I can at least see how ridiculously strong she is.' Adam's eyes returned to their usual brown color. There was nothing more to think about the topic, and thankfully Nore shared that thought, for her sanity.

"I see… I'll get to the job just leave the souls to me." Her face was devoid of any expression aside from a fake smile, she had stopped thinking all together.

"Well, remember the deal ok."
