Chapter 216 - Promise

"None of us were able to stay true to our inherent nature, and that was our sin, the reason we ended up being stained by other's wishes and desires, but the youngest is different from us… in front of us all—the ones who came before her and guided her through her journey—she just displayed her true nature without any reservation," The sleepiness on Sloth's face was gone and that showed how serious this matter was.

"No, what she had done today wasn't what you are thinking…" Envy shook her head, there was no way she would accept that.

"No, it is as she says, whether we like it or not, the youngest has just displayed her Pride—her true nature—unlike any of us were able to, even with us trying to force her down a path, and he was the trigger for that," Lust cut in looking at Greed who had stayed silent throughout the conversation, "Such an interesting guy don't you think? Makes you want to keep him for yourself."

"What…nonsense are you spouting?" Greed wasn't happy because of how Lust was singling her out.

"I just know obsession when I see it," Lust smiled knowingly.

"Speak for yourself," Greed folded her arms and didn't want to continue the topic, since it wouldn't lead to anything.

"Still didn't …deny…it," Sloth's eyelids started to feel heavy, she had talked too much for the day.

"If… you… are… doing something… that…will harm him... then prepare… for the consequences…" This was when Wrath spoke up attracting their attention, and the atmosphere plunged deeper because it wasn't aimed at someone in particular, it was a warning for them all.

"I just want him to cook for me forever," Gluttony spoke up undeterred by the prickly atmosphere, and that created an opportunity.

"Oh My, I am sure he would be flattered to know that he is this well-liked by seven different women," Lust smiled, she didn't take these threats seriously either.

"I don't think he will be particularly happy with it..." Sloth sighed, after all, they had no good intentions.

"Well, it is for his betterment," Lust shrugged uncaring. In the end, nothing mattered.

"It is quite regrettable, we will have to leave it in the hands of the youngest at the end," Greed just shook her head, and there was nothing more to talk about this topic.

"We should've done that from the beginning, she might've just ended up like us if this didn't happen," Sloth said placing her head on the table, they had been needlessly interfering and it was clear what was happening because of it.

"Well, it isn't that nothing fruitful came out of our interventions, I'd say they played a major role in this development," Lust was pleased with what happened so far, and rightfully so...

"You mean your interventions," Envy scoffed at Lust, who just smiled at that comment.

"Well, you have a fair share in the coming situations, so I wouldn't allow you to wash your hands off it that easily…" Before attacking her with a snide remark, she wouldn't allow this opportunity to be wasted.

"What do you think you are saying?" Envy frowned at the accusation, while Greed giggled in amusement.

"Don't act like you don't know, out of every one of us you are the most dangerous one," Lust closed an eye, "all of us know why you are that hard on the youngest, Envy."

"I do not appreciate your accusations," Envy's eyes took on a dangerous glint and Lust just shrugged.

'Sigh, I should just go make a room in the far corner,' Sloth grumbled, this was going to be another day of nonstop bickering. And the one who had caused this was just unaware of this, or it could be said that he had no way of knowing.

"You do not need to know, I'll make sure that all of your wish comes true," The Goddess of Wishes observed Adam through a screen, while looking at the golden scroll in her hand to access information.

Primordial, Goddess Of Wishes(7th).

"I will not turn back on the promise I made with you," She removed the blindfold from her starry eyes, watching him leave the shop through the front door with a smile.

"Hello, this is the first time we met in person?" Adam spoke to the being in front of him, he was sitting in a sophisticated office wearing a three-piece suit.

"Yes, it is a pleasure meeting you," He spoke softly unlike the goat-like head he had. If it wasn't for this guy's head, Adam would've mistaken him for a normal person, if he chose to not pry deeper.

"Same here, you know why I came here right?" Adam asked.

"Yes, and I approve of your passage, please be a little mindful of your actions," This guy was the Administrator of a world.

"No worries, I won't do anything," Adam reassured him.

"I know that you will not, I am more worried about the other one…" He said plainly as Adam tilted his head, he didn't get what the Administrator wanted him to do.

'It won't be a big deal,' Adam was sure of it.

"Well, I'll keep an eye out and make sure nothing drastic happens," Hearing those words, the administrator seemed a little relieved somehow.

"Then I—The Devil Devil—bid you farewell," But without saying anything more about the subject, he bowed slightly when a door appeared next to Adam.

"Yep, continue the hard work up here," Adam stepped into the door with a smile and left the area, he didn't bother to ask any more questions.

"Troublesome things can happen if he isn't careful," The Administrator muttered after the door vanished, the problem he was talking about wasn't regarding Adam, but from the one he was visiting.

He stared at the screen in front of him, it displayed a pale auburn-haired woman reading a questionable book with a small smile. But even if one could see her, what was going on in her mind wasn't something one could deduce from her face alone.

"But I suppose that is his problem, I have my problems as well and I would be grateful if they don't increase," He said sitting on his chair, before he started to check through the pile of paper stacked on the desk.

3 P.M. Tokyo, Japan.

"No one here?" Adam was in the apartment Makima showed him, he appeared in the clean bedroom where not a single thing was out of order, and no one seemed to be in this place, except…

ARF*

"Oh, Mochi how have you been?" Adam picked up the dog that ran towards him as soon as he stepped out of the bedroom.

"You've been eating well, huh?" He smiled when he felt that this pup had gotten heavier and softer, he was becoming true to his name, soft and squishy while being adorable.

And the thing was that he even had food in his bowl even with no one around, it seemed to be his lunch. And the fact that he hadn't chowed down on it, Makima was training him well.

"She must be busy with work at the moment," Adam concluded while Mochi was licking his face.

'I'll just for her to come back.' He thought of spending some time here with Mochi. But that plan changed soon because the doorbell rang. Adam walked on the soft carpet that covered the floor with Mochi in his arms and opened the main door.

"Makima-sama has sent a car for you," There stood a guy in a black suit, bowing respectfully to him.

"She wants to see me?" Adam could feel like she wasn't free. Otherwise, she would've arrived here herself, rather than sending someone to get him.

"Yes, she will be arriving at the office around the same time as you. Makima-sama said that she can come home if that is what you want?" The guy spoke flatly once again and Adam thought for a bit.

"No need for that, I'll come with you." Adam shook his head and placed Mochi on the ground, "Be a good boy till we come back, OK?"

Mochi barked in response and went back into the living room to sit down on his pillow. Adam smiled and turned to the guy who was waiting for him.

"Lead the way,"
