Chapter 208 - Adam: If Someone Looks Like Me, That’s More Of A Reason To Not Follow Him

"But wouldn't it be ok if I follow someone like you?" She said tilting her head, because of how good he has been she started to think that others might also be like him.

'This girl doesn't learn…' Adam looked at her flatly before flicking her forehead.

"Ouch! What was that for?!" Saki was in tears covering her forehead, that flick really packed a punch.

"If someone looks like me, that's more of a reason to not follow him," Adam said sternly, to ensure these words were drilled into her head.

"Ok Ok, I give," Saki pouted because he seemed to have no faith in her.

'But it is alright,' She smiled as looking at him worried made her heart warm, but soon she felt a little nervous once again remembering something.

"Adam… um…" Saki fidgeted, she didn't know how to do this and he wasn't helping at all.

"What?" Adam tilted his head, and she took deep breaths to calm herself, then after a minute of breathing exercises…

"Can I have… your number?" Mustering up all of her courage, she finally asked for it.

"Huhu, you were that embarrassed over asking for your friend's number, huh?" Adam on the other hand laughed teasingly, "How lame."

"This is my first time ok, it can't be helped that I am nervous!!" Saki shouted indignantly with a flushed face, this was a tall wall to cross at once, but she tried to do it anyway.

"I thought… that it would be ok if it was you…" The embarrassment was surely getting to her, but she didn't appear to be backing down.

'I am so glad I am using magic right now,' Adam shook his head because if someone heard those words, it would cause serious problems when their eyes landed on them.

A grown man and a middle school student, with that being the words she shouted in the remote corner of the park...

'Yeah… nothing but trouble,' But leaving that aside, since she had asked—it was only natural that he responds properly.

"I'll give you my number, but there will be times it isn't reachable ok?" Hearing those words Saki smirked.

"So, much for a friend that will help me any time I need it," She was trying to tease him, and return the favor, after all, he was doing the same to her.

"There is no need to worry," Adam on the other hand smiled at her attempt, "Just think of me when you are in trouble, I'll come instantly." before placing his hand on her head.

"…" Saki's face was heating up at an alarming rate as he patted her a few times.

"Understand?" He asked.

"Y-Yes," Saki could only nod with her gaze lowered, there wasn't much she could say in this situation.

"So, take my number, I'll contact you when I am around, we can do another arcade run that time," Adam himself was looking forward to it.

Going to the arcade was fun, but today she learned that going with a friend was super fun.

"Hmm, you don't want to do arcade?" But looking at Saki not answering, he thought that she might not like to do it again, people needed some variety after all, "We can do something else, like karaoke, or go around and look through some shops to try out different food?"

"Ah… No… it's not a problem, I don't mind anything…" Saki quickly spoke but then her hands flew to her mouth in surprise.

'I want to die…' She was embarrassed at what she had just said but…

"I see, I am glad," It was a good thing that her friend felt the same way.

'Yeah, I have to do better,' She psyched herself up and then turned to him, her eyes burning in determination.

"Give me your number! ...please?" But because of her nervousness, the words came out weirdly, almost as if she was demanding it.

"Sure," Regardless, Adam laughed it off and gave the number.

'Good thing I modified this phone,' From now on, he didn't have to worry about getting a new one every time, because now he can just use one for all worlds.

'A number aside from my parents, I got the number of my first friend…' Saki was happy to see that the number was added, till now she only had contacts of her parents and a few other important ones, and this was the first time she got a contact of her friend.

"Then I'll go home… take care," Saki said her goodbyes with a big smile on her face.

"Yeah, take care on the way back," Adam waved at her with a smile, and as he saw her exit the park with springy steps, "That ended better than I expected."

He had achieved what he wanted, but he needed to be a little more sure about this.

"Let's see how tomorrow goes then…" He turned around and walked away.

***

"I am home." Saki arrived back home after half an hour of commute, and the moment she stepped foot into the house.

"What took you so long today?" Her mother asked a question, this was the first time she had been this late, so she wanted to know if something happened.

"Um… I was out with a friend," Saki answered with a smile, but her mind was on top of the moon. Today was the day she made her first friend, and she went out with him to hang out.

"We spent the time in the arcade playing games and had lunch in the nearby shop," She never thought that this would happen this early but it did, and she couldn't stop thinking back on the day.

"I'll tell you about it next time," She was sure that it would happen again, that is why she didn't want to trouble her mother again.

'Was I too forward? Maybe I shouldn't think about it like this...' Saki wondered if it was normal to think this way, but she didnt know what to do.

"Next time?" Her mother on the other side, was a little confused by this sudden shift of attitude.

From what she observed, her daughter wasn't the type to go around and hang out with friends, she wasn't even interested in dressing up like other girls.

She had often felt like something was wrong but decided against it to interfere with her choices. It was just that now there seemed to be a change, and it came to suddenly.

And looking at her daughter's face and mannerisms, she naturally concluded something.

"Sure, make sure to bring him home sometimes, and be careful ok?" Saki was confused at her mother's bright smile, and more importantly by her words.

'How does she know that Adam is a guy?' She couldn't make heads or tails of the situation.

"You will, right?" But before she could understand, her mother pressed her with another question.

"Ah, yes… I'll ask him," Saki nodded quickly, but she looked away instantly noticing the problem with her words.

"Good Good, now go and freshen up, the Dinner is already prepared~," Her mother left merrily with those words, and looking at her back Saki was in deep thought.

'It would be ok, right? Friends come over to each other's house,' Even she had been invited to some of her classmates' houses, without knowing them.

So, Saki thought that it should be ok, but she would still rather ask him about it.

'It should be ok if I just ask …him,' Back in her room after dinner, she was at the desk staring at the phone.

And she had been doing this for the past hour or so like it was her lifelong nemesis.

"I just need to message him…" She muttered, it wasn't a big thing to do at the moment, from her observation friends messaged each other all of the time.

So, there should be no problem she couldn't do that, right?

"But how do I ask him about that?" Her head hit the desk with a thump. She would eventually have to ask Adam if he could come to her house because her mom asked for it, and she also wanted that to happen.

Wasn't this too soon? And if he comes wouldn't he come to her room? What would he say? What would he think of her messy room? And most importantly, where will he sit?

"I think I'll die at this point…." Her face was painted in red just by imagining it, this subject was too much for her to break into this soon.

"Yeah, let's forget about it," So, she turned to the logical option for now, and that was to delay the situation.

DING*

"WAHH!!" But in the next instant, she was frightened by the notification sound of the Line app, "I nearly fell…" she patted her chest to calm down a little.

She was relieved that she didn't end up falling but, in the next instant, she gulped after seeing who the message was from.

"What is he texting for so late? Maybe ...Should I pretend to be asleep? But what if it is important? What do I do?"
