1:00 P.M. City Y.
A normal day came around, the sun sat up high sending its cruel beams on the innocent people walking down the road. The heat evaporated their will to live and everything in between making everyone's lives even harder. But, to the humans that walked the earth an aid that could support them had arrived.
In City Y, one ice cream shop swept the citizens off their feet with its sweet and cold taste that brought a satisfying chill. With awesome marketing thanks to a famous pro hero, the shop took flight in popularity among the people.
"One Sweet and Sour blueberry, double scoops please!"
"Give me Super Amai(Sweet) Chocolate Special!"
"No, that's the last one, and it is mine!"
"Who the fuck are you bitch? Get off me!!"
"Security! Get these two out!"
Two days passed since they opened for business and the scene became rowdy. Every day their consumer base increased by the hour. The advertisements did wonders and dominated the T.V. thanks to them pushing it with tons of money.
"Must be hard for them, huh," Adam muttered placing the specials menu outside his shop.
Three days had passed since he opened his store, but he returned to the empty shop. But, as the shop opened officially someone walked in within 10 minutes.
"Can I get a Raspberry special?" Isamu came in with his backpack as usual.
"Extra syrup with that?" He nodded at Adam's question and took a seat in the back corner of the shop.
He took out his laptop and started to tap away with vigor. Soon Grayfia arrived with his order and placed it within his reach, even placing a towel on his lap so he wouldn't soil his clothes by dropping the ice cream.
"Thanks Nee-san!" Isamu smiled, but she nodded and went back to wiping the other tables even though they shined like a mirror.
Isamu didn't mind her silence, because he knew that wasn't on purpose after coming here for the past days. The silence also helped, something he couldn't get even in his lab these days.
'And this ice cream…' Isamu took a bite and his eyes lit up.
The cold sting melted with the heat of his tongue as the flavor of milk and berries spread through his mouth. The sweetness was just right and even if he ate a lot at once it didn't give him a brain freeze. Plus it wouldn't give him a cavity, something he liked the most about this.
Regardless, that wasn't the real reason he spent his days here from opening to closing time. On the day he returned from the A City after the alien invasion aftermath. He happened to see the new ice cream shop on the way home. He liked ice cream. It provided his brain with a lot of energy to work. So, he always tried all the brands in the city to find the best one for his consumption.
Curious about the new shop, he entered and placed his order. Since then he didn't want to leave the seat here because they didn't do takeouts or deliveries.
'But, I can understand. Something like this must be in a place that is a protection net with high-class Heroes.' Isamu felt his brain churn at a speed that it had never before. It was all thanks to the ice cream. After running several tests he found out that this dessert wasn't only tasty. It also increased his brain activity to inhumane levels.
It was a miracle medicine that had zero side effects!
'So mysterious those two.' Isamu looked at Adam and Grayfia.
Even after combing through the entire nation's records for two days, the only traces he found of them were the testimony of a few heroes from a few days ago and some property dealership records that dated back a few years. The most recent one being the transaction of this very shop and a mansion in the city. Almost like they had been in hiding this all time, something he could understand.
"Should I refill that or would you like to try another special?" Adam asked as he saw the kid stirring an empty glass and didn't notice that he had eaten all already.
"Um…" Isamu had too many options so he had trouble choosing. For the three days straight the special menu had no repeats, and each was more delicious than the other.
'The chocolate one is good… but I tried too many chocolate flavors already, I want to try something new…. Matcha might be a good one! No, but I had Matcha once In City K, and it was bitter. So, what else? Strawberries? Maybe… But they will be sweet too. I just had something sweet…' Isamu used his sharper-than-usual mind to find out the pros and cons of each flavor, which had him in a deadlock.
"Having trouble again?" Adam laughed placing one of the specials on his table, it was Matcha. This happened often when Isamu had to choose his next order, so Adam chose one for him in those times.
"It isn't bitter, don't worry." Watching his face Adam could predict the kid's thoughts. Although he had some bitter Matcha this one was milder so that even a normal kid could stomach it, and he didn't sprinkle too much on top.
"Umm~! The ice cream is sweeter too… It is just perfect!" Isamu had a new favriote now.
"So, you are still making this?" Adam shifted his eyes to the laptop. A 3D blueprint of a mecha caught his eye.
"Yes, since you mentioned the new concept of the power core I can't sleep. I have to make this!" The kid's eyes burned with passion. He enjoyed his talks with Adam about the mechs because the latter also had an interest in them.
"You shouldn't cut down on your sleep," Adam said.
"The ice cream keeps me energized so it doesn't affect me at all. I still can't understand why the association is so late to come." With Adam's agreement, Isamu sent reports to the Association with his own body as a test subject to show how effective this product was.
Not only did it increase his brain activity, it buffed his strength and speed by up to 30% for 20 minutes, relieved his fatigue, and healed his body. All that from one cup of ice cream? That's a steal! If the Hero Association used this item for their heroes, even for the Class S and top-ranked Class A Heroes alone. That would bring about a whole revolution and the public safety would shoot up, and it would give them a trump card not to mention Adam's normal healing powers.
"They must be busy dealing with the aftermath of City A like you said." Adam calmed the kid down.
"Still they are so inefficient. That is why I tried to contact someone who is a brainiac like me…" Isamu's words trailed off.
"That is why there's been an abundance of bugs lately." Adam laughed.
"Sorry… I didn't expect that he'd try to steal the formula from you." Isamu confronted the guy, but he turned the argument around.
"Saying he was testing the security in place then asking for a sample as a reward, what a shameless fellow. Don't worry about him. There'll always be people like him around." Adam patted the kid's head to reassure him.
No matter how sharp or intelligent he was, Isamu was still a child after all.
"Also it would be better if you change your Hero name," Adam mentioned.
"What's wrong with Child Emperor?" Seeing the kid tilt his head, Adam sighed.
"You'll understand one day." He smiled, anticipating how this kid would be seething in rage at the people who gave him this name.
Seeing that Adam wouldn't tell him about this topic, Isamu decided to change the subject.
"To make up for my blunder I have called for someone I can trust with all my heart. Once he is here no one can even dream of touching this place." Isamu smirked. This wasn't an exaggeration, this man had proven himself again and again.
A man so manly that Villains turned over a new leaf by looking at him once. A hero so heroic that his city had the lowest villain activity recorded in history. A warrior so strong that monsters trembled to even look in his direction.
"Hello… is this Shop Heveanly?" The Strongest Hero of Mankind (Unofficial) King has arrived!
...
You're halfway to the powerstones goal. Good luck.
