Chapter 1 - THE LAST HOPE

In a long corridor, several men and women can be seen seated on a long chair provided to them to sit on. In front of them a long glass table is been placed on the table several files, magazines, and glass of a water is been kept for the persons sitting across it. But none of the people is interested in even looking at the glass of water or the files and magazines placed on it.

They all were silently seated there with a file of their own in their hands suddenly the door which is in front of the table opened and a middle-aged man came out of it with a look of sadness. he then gave a last look to the others present there and walk out from there then a lady came out from the same door and she looks at the notebook in her hands and then says

"Mr. Karan Khurana your turn please come inside ".

A young man of age 24 having black hair and light brown skin wearing a suit and tie nodded and then stands up with the file he then proceeded to go inside the room "Please this time, let's it be successful" he prays to god in his mind and starts walking.

As he enters the room he sees seven figures sitting behind a nice fancy table they all were wearing branded suits and we're looking at him with interest. The room looked very posh which unknowingly gave him pressure as he belong to a middle-class family this kind of environment just make him nervous but he didn't let his emotions ruin this meeting.

He then takes a small relaxing breath and then sits on the seat provide to him which is in front of these people as he sits down one of the men on the leftmost seat said "Please introduced yourself".

Karna nods and said "Good morning, sirs and madams my name is Karna Khurana the owner of the Maya gaming studio and today I am here to seek investments from you gentlemen and women for the latest project of my studio ... A brand new MMORPG game known as The radiant warriors ".

As he said that all the people nods and then start looking at the file provided by the staff to them a lady sitting in the center asked "So how much money you required?"

" madam, we have currently invested 30 lakhs(36,000 dollars) in it to build. it as new as possible we have developed a completely new style of gameplay the player will not have an auto-skill use and auto-play option and have to complete the quest on their own also we have improved the graphic so much that every scene will be felt as real as possible we also have included a wide range of characters and options for players to choose from and the best part is they all have had a different quest for each species so we required 30lakh more to complete the game " he then switches on the t.v which is placed beside him and then a trailer of the game radiant warrior starts playing.

The trailer starts with beautiful scenery of mountains and rivers and then it shifts from that to a huge tree that is almost as big as Burj khalifa or even taller than that. it is as thick as four trucks kept together suddenly a hand that is double the size of the tree emerge from the ground and then starts moving towards the tree to damage it but then out of nowhere a beautiful elven lady strike the hands with a huge magic blast but seeing no effect on the hand she try to attack one more time but this time another being came to help her it's a majestic dragon who breathe a stream of fire on the hands but again it's of no use it's didn't even burn the hands.

And then one by one different species came one was a dwarf one was a giant who came with a large hammer in his hands then orcs each attacked the hands but couldn't be able to stop its trajectory but then out of nowhere a huge colorful beam of light attacked the hands and this time a hole appeared in the hands and it's backed away all other races look at the direction of the beam and they found various other beings of different species such as humans, beasts, elves, orcs and many more they each have had different flags and symbols but they all been lead by a single man who smiles after seeing them.

" let's work together " As he said that then a roar occurred and now other hands emerged from the ground and then with a last push from both of its hands the head of the monster emerged from the ground. The monster looks at the group of people and then roars in anger the peoples also roar their respective battle cries and they all start running toward the monster for the clash. Then the screen blackout and a title of golden letters appear which says "The radiant warriors".

two minutes later, the trailer ended and then a voice came out of the rightmost seat " the trailer looks good" Karna thanks him the man nods and then look at the file "the current game size is 445GB and there is still pending work of 200GB more so overall it's a PC game ..did you develop its mobile version or can it even be developed for the mobile version ".

Even though Karna knows where this is going he still can't avoid it as he needs funds and they are the investors it's their money so they need to know where they are investing he then nods and said "No sir, it will degrade the quality of the game so we can't develop it's for the mobile version".

The man nods and then close the file he then looks at Karna and said "I am sorry I can't invest in your game as the current mobile gaming industry had far surpassed the PC ones so I can't see much profit here. If in future you develop the same then you can have some deal but for now, it's a no from me".

Karna felt sadness as he knew that the current mobile gaming industry had far surpassed the PC gaming industry, especially after the emergence of the new gaming phone by the Holo-caster company which can help to run a game of at most 500Gb with a very smooth and clean graphics and even if you play for days it's won't heat.

So the question of why he didn't develop the game for mobile he and his studio can develop that but the problem is the holo-caster company charges an exorbitant price for letting other games be played on the there phones eg if a game developer develops games on 100 rupees or dollars then the holo -caster company will straight away charge 60% of the price and also 2-5% share in profits which is ridiculous.

But no one can do anything as they are the only ones who had developed the device and enjoyed the monopoly in the market so small studios like his can't afford that kind of price also he can't make simple games for other mobile as they are less profitable and have no customers. So the only option left for him is to try the PC industry he knew it became less popular in today's ages where you can simply play with some touch on a phone anywhere at any time so who would want to waste their time on a PC sitting in one corner of there room?

He gave a dry smile and thanked the person next a lady says "Mr. Karna, you said you want 30lakh more to complete it so how much are you sure that this game of yours can make in the market? What is the profit margin?".

"madam my studio is expecting to get at least a 30% profit margin because even though there are many games like this in the market but we provide a wide range of quests for every player as well as the graphic of our game is top-notch when compare to other PC games," Karna said with confidence but a sentence from the man sitting next to the lady crush all of his hopes.

"It seems you and your teams have not researched the market well Mr Karna the top PC brand like Chili, Hetra, and Vados make only 10% profit on their games what gave you so much confidence that your game will earn more than those top brands" the man says.

Another lady chips in "mr karna, if your games were unique then we can imagine that margin but this idea is already been used by those brands so it's nothing unique. Please take my advice closely and stop making games for the PC industry it's a dying industry and you will only become a victim if you don't know when to pull off, for this my answer is no ".

" just like she said, a no for me too " and just like that six out of seven had said no Karna felt like crying but he hold his emotions there is a chance as the center lady had still not given her answer and she is looking at his file.

This is the last chance for his studio if he is unable to secure this deal then all other small investors will pull out their money from his studio and then he will have to close his studio as this was his last hope.
