"The world was gone, basically goodbye already. Doomsday, judgement day, anything you can think of. It's like that. The end of the world was here. Mythical and bloodthirsty creatures appeared from down below Earth. Vampires, werewolves, zombies, sirens, that type of sorts. Humanity tried to fight back. In vain of course.
"We humans failed to fight them back because they were unconventional. They had night vision, they were faster. We lost out in abilities too. Humans betrayed each other for survival. But somehow we survived. We built a great fortress and many smaller fortresses around too. We called these massive behemoths, Bastions.
"But even so, we still lost our world. So, we resorted to creating our own monsters. Called Infinitias Superstes, also known as Infinity Survivors. Aka, you guys." The sergeant in charge of the children in front of him taught. He was Sergeant J, also known as Jay. He was in charge of teaching and training the Infinite Survivors.
"Today, I'll be teaching you how to incapacitate a rotting body, otherwise known as zombies. They are slow, horde gathering, and weak enemies. Like all undead-" Jay stopped as he caught the attention of a bored looking youth. He was about twelve and looked a little thirteen. But he was smaller compared to the other kids. His two different toned orange eyes pierced Jay's soul. His name was Vito. Short for Virtual I-Tango #0. Also known as the first 'successful' Infinite Survivor.
But Vito was different from the rest. He had no need for resting, eating or drinking, needing to dispose of waste, oxygen, or other human essentials. All he needed was his heart to still be functioning and he'd be alive no matter what. In other words, he was different. He was a Wight. Wights' regeneration are off the charts, being able to regrow entire limbs within half a day. Their physical properties were comparable to a metal boulder crashing into you at speeds of an old world 'car.'
Wights are undead creatures who hate the living. They also have the ability to create zombies under them. However, Vito is the clone of a mutated wight child. Designated as 000, aka the first successful test subject. Vito is unable to revive his own zombies, his regeneration power is weaker and so is his physical power, though it is still comparable to a grown man. But he retains sentience and rational thinking, rational thinking.
But as an undead, he also doesn't have any emotions or feelings. Well, sort of. Vito's emotions and feelings are repressed by his undead side, but it is still there. Just very weakened in favour of rational thinking. Vito is also unable to feel pain, warmth, or be able to taste food. He can still feel coldness however, though it doesn't hurt him a lot. Unless it is an attack or extreme cold, enough to freeze his heart.
"Ahem. sorry. As I was saying, undead are usually weak creatures. Zombies even more. You can easily decapitate them and they'd die. Their weak points are their joints and brain. By taking out their joints, they're unable to move, and taking out their brains is instant death in most cases. Unless you are going against other undead creatures, take vampires. You just need to take out their mobility and let Corpse Control end the stranglers."
"Today, I've gathered one hundred zombies, enough for each of you. And your task is to efficiently take them all out within five minutes." Jay brought out some zombie stranglers from the outbreak in Zone X, otherwise known as the 'slums.' The guards around had pistols and ten bullets each. Guns were rare there. Vito looked at the zombies with absolutely no remorse. They may be 'family' but they weren't close.
"First up! Maya…" Jay called several people at once. Vito being one of them. He, with curiosity, saw the zombies. The bored expression on his face turned into a curious one. It was safe to say, Vito loved knowledge. He once dissected a frog by himself, furthering his 'weirdness' to the other Infinitias. Ten people stood about five metres from each other as the zombies had their hands untied and sent to kill.
Vito's zombie clearly ignored him and tried to attack the boy next to him. Vito didn't allow this as he grabbed the zombie and took it down to the floor before using a quarter of his strength to crush the zombie's brains in. Keeping the rest of his strength for later, a small habit you'd pick up when many children weaker than you, want to bully you. Vito ended the zombie in only two dozen seconds. Making him currently the fastest Infinitias to end their zombie.
Vito retreated as he went to a corner and sat down. Waiting for everyone else to finish. But if his eyes were open, you could see a spark in his eyes, weak, but still there. Vito was in a dark void as a single box was open to him. In the box was nothing, well, yet anyway. Some words that seemed to be made of molten magma materialised in front of him. It was an ancient language. But Vito could understand it. Otherwise also known as the Mortem Language. Words used by Ancient Undead Gods and Lords.
'First zombie has been felled. Racial talent taken. [Rot Attacks]. This racial talent gives all physical attacks, the 'rot' buff. The rot buff allows you to poison or 'rot' the person you attack, slowly killing them. Doesn't work on undead, dead, or soul attacks.' A sort of 2D zombie without a face, but an open mouth appeared in the empty box. This was Vito's secret, the Ember Pulse.
Vito was able to take racial talents from different races and use them for himself. From any race, mind you. It also extends to higher evolutions. Like a Tank Zombie, or Speed Zombie. Vito is able to take their racial talents too. However, Vito only had a single box and two kills to his name. The frog had dropped a racial talent, unfortunately it was useless. [Longer Tongue] was self explanatory. It made Vito's tongue longer.
Not sure why Vito would need that, unless he wanted to pleasure someone else. But Vito felt like that was pointless. Very pointless. He shook his head and thought about the talent. Since he could use the rot buff to deal extra damage to living beings. How long does it last? How much damage can it deal? Can it kill? Those were the questions he asked in his head. But unfortunately, no answer was there.
The Ember Pulse merely allowed him to use the racial talents and gave a vague explanation. Vito opened his eyes as he saw the last Infinitias kill her opponent. Everyone was congratulating her. Her name was Coco, the fiftieth Infinitias, also the one with the second greatest potential, second only to Zack. As well as Vito's bully. She would hurt Vito a lot, but he never minded her. Most of the time he'd blame himself for wanting to be friends with her.
Jay got everyone back in position as he reviewed everyone. "The fastest time is Vito, second fastest is Zack, and third fastest is Coco. Please go to the lunchroom to eat, the meal today is white porridge with small amounts of sugar." The many children set off in their small groups. Only three others and Vito were alone. Mainly because they were the people who'd get bullied. They never tried to align with the other alone people, because they didn't trust the world anymore.
Vito looked at the clock. He'd been here for the past month. About twenty eight days if the guards didn't lie to him. He'd learned a lot about the world. The first week and well up to the end of the second week, everyone was confused and was making their small cliques. The third week was about learning the outside world and how it was going to hell. And the past week, they've been learning about different monsters and beasts they'd encounter in the world. Today was their first real combat test.
Vito got to the lunch room and grabbed a bowl of white porridge before going to sit down with the other lonely children. But someone stopped him. Coco. "Come with me." She said with a disdainful expression. Evident, Vito knew what was happening. Coco didn't like that he beat her, and now she was going to beat him. Physically, not sexually. What were you thinking? Hmm, dear reader? C'mon, don't be shy.
Vito has no time to react as Coco grabs him as his bowl falls making a mess. Vito was pissed, it might've been his fault for trying to be friends, but did she have to do it now? Vito was thrown into the wall as Coco threw the first punch, Vito sneered dodging it just in time before kneeing her in the stomach. Did Coco forget he couldn't feel pain? Or did she forget he wasn't even human to begin with.
Coco was thrown right to the floor with the knee to her stomach. Vito didn't hold back because he was pissed. These hands were willing to hurt anyone and everyone. "Next time, don't pick a fight with the wight clone." Vito gave 'sincere' advice as he walked to her table and grabbed her porridge before leaving to join the 'loner' table. Everyone clicked their tongues at Coco's antics. She's fought Vito many times in the past, one win. Everyone knew, while Zach might have the greatest potential. He was far from the greatest killing machine in this facility.
