**I wish I had cat ears in real life ;( I think it'd be cool to be fluffy n stuff. Not a furry tho, just think it'd be cool :3**
I watch as the words appear on the screen, as I move my finger over, and press enter. My hand cups my mouth, as I suppress a yawn.
**Are you sure you're not a furry?**
**Definitely sounds like a furry to me.**
**Hans, get ze flammenwerfer! We have a furry!**
I see the responses pop onto the dark gray box before me, and put my chin in my hands. Letting out a deep, annoyed sigh, a few strands of hair float out away from my face. Rather than spend the next few hours arguing with my fellow terminally online people â my 'friends' â I log off for now, and close my laptop.
My forehead meets the hard wooden desk with a *thump*. For a few moments, I sit there, contemplating my boredom. Then, I stand up from my chair, raise my arms, and stretch deeply.
"Hngggggg⊠âŠhahâŠ"
I breathe deeply, and relax my limbs.
"I wonder what time of day it isâŠ" I mumble aloud.
Having no clock in the darkness of my room, I tiptoe over the mess of clothes on the floor, and make my way to the window. Moving the curtain aside, I quickly move my arm to cover my eyes, blinded by the sun. I grumble annoyedly, and stand there for a moment as my eyes readjust.
Outside, the sunlight glares off of the various car windows along the street, making the oppressive brightness of the white concrete even worse.
"Guh⊠good weather for laying around outside I guess," I mumble.
Being an unemployed college student on summer vacation gives plenty of free time to spend time with friends. Unfortunately for my introverted self, I moved around a lot growing up, and don't have any friends here. So far, I've spent most of my vacation just sitting around, being online, or playing Skyrim. Not that I'm upset with that, it's justâŠ
I slide the curtain back, and throw on a thin oversized hoodie, skipping down the stairs as I find a bit of energy. Soon enough, I reach the main door, and am once again blinded as I step outside.
*Flip, flop, flip, flop*, the sound of my shoes echoes off my surroundings as I begin to walk. Wind rushes past my face, as cars speed by me on the street.
After a few minutes of walking, I finally arrive at my favorite lazing location: the local park. Looking around, there are a few dozen people out and about enjoying the weather. Luckily, my bench is free. Quickly, I climb up and lay face down along the length of it, closing my eyes, and feeling the gentle warmth of the sun on my back.
"Nothing beats thisâŠ" I mumble to myself, feeling more and more drowsy as a gentle breeze ruffles my hair.
Just as I'm about to drift off however, I hear a shrill, adorable noise. "Mrow!"
After laying there for what feels like an eternity of cozy warmth, I open one eye and glance over, seeing a small black cat sitting there, staring at me.
"Meow!" I reply with a smile, watching the adorable creature with curiosity.
"Mrow!" the cat mews, repeating itself. Then, it gets up and hops away. For whatever reason, I feel compelled to get up too, and begin follow it. As the kitty zips and hops around playfully, I speedily chase after it, meowing with it all the while.
We dash all around the park, whipping by trees and jumping over benches. Adults and children alike yell out in surprise as we dart past, not really watching where I'm going; just basking in the thrill of chasing the cat. Suddenly, my foot gets caught on something, and I fall flat on my face.
"Uf!" I sound, as the wind is knocked out of me. I sit up and clutch my head in pain, trying to regain my breath.
"OwwwwâŠ"
As I slowly reorient my senses, I see the cat has led me out to the street, and I've tripped over the curb. Looking up however, I see the cat sitting in the middle of the roadway. Just licking its paw calmly, staring at me.
"Here kitty kitty, don't sit in the road please!" I plead to the cat, and it eventually looks up at my slightly battered visage.
"Yes, that's it! C'mere! Psspspspsps!" I motion pleadingly, frantically waving my hand at the feline.
A shrill noise suddenly fills my ears. A car flies past us, laying on the horn at me as the cat just sits there. The wind from the car sends my hair into my face, and I curse myself for not having worn a headband.
As I clear the hair from my face however, I see the cat unharmed, but another car rapidly approaching: a large, white semi-truck. My whole body tenses up, and I quickly look back to the cat. It continues to sit there, watching me with curiosity. A surge of adrenaline courses through my veins.
"Not on my watch!" I shout, making the split-second decision to protect the cat.
I jump up onto my feet, and out into the street. As I move forwards however, the cat suddenly darts towards me, passing through my legs. I stand there for a moment, looking over my shoulder at it in surprise.
The cat calmly sits on the curb, staring at me, as the corner of my vision turns white.
