Chapter 77 - (Interlude) School Days-Fallacy

While Endyr was off getting acquainted with ancient Magi Clans and secret organizations while slaughtering Vampire Cultists, Altair was having a comparatively more normal time. He had attended his classes in the morning-maths, languages and etiquette-and had lunch with Sia, Elizabeth and Alexander. The Legendry scion kept following him around like a puppy, and Altair couldn't shake him no matter what.

Once break was over, Altair moved on to possibly his favourite subject: Theology. After the first class, Kieran Durnoff had gone though each individual God's canon and Church, starting with Sol and Zephylte, working his way down to Fallacy. Altair was especially interested in this one, since Fallacy w as known as the God of Horror and Mysteries, making information about 'Him' scarce and unreliable. In terms of obscurity, 'He' was second only to Weaver.

"Fallacy first appeared in the Bibles of the first Orthodox Gods, along with the Dread Three. There are some discrepancies between them, and Seraphic's is especially jarring, but we have constructed a relatively stable timeline. Of course, being the God of Horror and Mysteries means everything we know about Fallacy could easily be false-it's in 'His' name after all."

"According to the Churches, Fallacy was a rogue God in the Golden Era who resisted the Almighty. 'He' was a sly, bizarre and malicious God who attempted to corrupt and break down the order the Almighty established but was always foiled and pushed back by Gaia, Sol and the rest. The Churches claim a portion of Fallacy's Authority comes from Abaddon, allowing 'Him' to hide from the Almighty's gaze. 'He' was the one to tempt Seraphic and Jester on the behalf of Aenrys and Navruavati and planned a crucial role in the downfall of the Almighty."

"Aenrys and Navruavati tell a different story: one where Fallacy was a Sacred subordinate of the Almighty but strove to usurp 'Him'. Fallacy was recruited by Seraphic and Jester, who all had similar ambitions, and was the one to approach 'Them' instead of the other way round. The five then besieged the Almighty, but Fallacy was too weak and so played very little role in the actual fight. After the conflict, Fallacy allegedly stole a part of the Almighty's Authority. This explanation is largely taken as an attempt to discredit Fallacy, who is a staunch enemy of the Gods of Blood and Filth, but we cannot outright dismiss it either."

"Seraphic's tale of Fallacy is the most unique tale off all the Gods. According to 'Him', Fallacy was a loyal follower of the Almighty, and one of 'His' most trusted subordinates. 'He' held a high position at the Almighty's side and was given a piece of the Almighty's personal Authority as a reward. The differences between Seraphic's Bible all all others from the Golden Era is that 'He' claims it was the Orthodox Gods that aligned with the Gods of Filth and Blood to assassinate the Almighty. Seraphic claims 'He', Fallacy and Jester were the good guys in the conflict."

At their teacher's words, Zeze's and Gordan's expressions warped in anger. To them, the words of the Dread Three were blasphemy! Aenrys and Navruavati were implying that the Almighty was outsmarted by a mere Sacred, and that 'His' body had been besmirched by Fallacy. To zealots such as them, the body of the Almighty Primordial was perfect and undefinable, and could not be manipulated in any way.

Of course, Seraphic's account was even worse. Their Gods killing the Almighty Primordial? Preposterous! If they could, the two children would have put Seraphic's head on a spike for daring to spread such blasphemous lies! Seeing the rage boiling in their eyes, Mr Durnoff sighed and tapped the board to gain their attention. "Most of what the Ark Covenant promote is obviously designed to paint everyone but Seraphic and 'His' allies as the villains. But actions speak louder than words, and the Orthodox Gods have weren't responsive for the destruction of Neriea. Even other Secret Gods like Ingrid and Chanteur acknowledge that was 'His' doing."

The Ark Covenant was the name of the official Cult centred around Seraphic. 'His' allies also had 'Their' own Cults: Jester personally acted within the Wandering Circus, while Daemon founded a loose organization of thieves, swindlers, sociopaths and anarchists called the Thieves of Fate.

"After the Golden Era, Fallacy joined Seraphic and Jester in establishing the Yareli Empire. 'He' assisted both Daemon and Chanteur in Ascending, helping the latter greatly and even sharing a portion of 'His' domain of Fate with the God of Dreams. Fallacy was quite for much of the early Dark Age apart from these acts, and was elected as the Yareli representative in Astoria in the stead of Seraphic. When the Great War broke out, Fallacy vanished for over a century and only appeared near the end, when the Tartarus bloodline was eradicated. 'He' often worked with Polydorus in this stage of the War and fought against the forces of Nyx, Consus and Calypso. 'He' personally engaged in battle with both Goddess' of Night and Seas, winning both fights."

"After the Fernandez and Pallez agreed to work together against the Yareli's, Fallacy fought against Gaia, Dendron, Sol and Zephylte all at once and was gravely wounded. 'He' was forced underground along the rest of the Gods that supported the Yareli: Seraphic, Jester, Daemon, and Polydorus. From there, Fallacy became increasingly withdrawn and almost stopped responding to 'His' believers entirely."

"It was only in the early-middle stage of the current Era that Fallacy made a comeback, establishing the Esoterics of Destiny. Furthermore, 'He' had a few smaller cults scattered around from the Dark Age, such as the Heralds of Twilight which worshipped 'Him' as the Announcer of Seraphic's Apocalypse. Fallacy has used these cults to destroy hundreds of thousands of lives and nearly destroy multiple fiefs."

At the mention of the Heralds of Twilight, Alexander's eyebrows twitched slightly as a distant look appeared in his eyes. He soon snapped out of it however, and pretended liked nothing happened, listening idly as Mr Durnoff finished speaking. Now however, a sharp glint hid within the depths of his eyes.
