"We just got some news, the CEO decided that one of your positions should be wrong. So it would create more publicity for the group. It's been decided that one of you won't be getting a position that you'd be getting otherwise. For example even if you were an amazing Dancer you wouldn't get the position." Haneul explained. Watching as all of the members seemed, a mix of angry, sad, disappointed and confused.
"You all have to realize that you will be the first ever group in the company. So the CEO wants as much popularity as possible. The goal is to basically become BTS or similar to them." Haneul continued to explain and try to cheer up at least some of the members.
"But BTS weren't the first group in their company?" Jongdae pointed out. " Not to mention we aren't BTS. This isn't fair." Dongyu spoke up for the rest of the members. "You signed up for this, it's not to late to back out. you haven't gotten your positions yet." Haneul said, in a no objections tone.
None of the members spoke up afterwards. "Alright! The CEO will decide which member or members this happens to." Haneul said, pausing for any questions.
"Members? This might happen to more than 1 of us?" Dongyu asked, his disappointment in the system becoming more evident the longer this conversation goes on. "Yes? It's up to the CEO. He decides everything, this has happen to multiple Kpop groups. I don't know why your so surprised." Haneul said, not understanding the problem. Though all of the members had their objections. They didn't want to get kicked out of the group, so no one else spoke up. Some of the members like Jongdae just sighed. While Hyungnim, kept quiet with a clear scowl on his face.
"Remember, you all chose this. I'll meet you all in the company buisness room with the CEO tomorrow. Good luck." Haneul said, before leaving the dance practice room.
After she left everyone started voicing their complaints to eachother. "Was Noona right? does this happen in kpop groups a lot?" Woohyun said, clearly confused. After all he had the shortest trainee experience. He didn't exactly listen to a lot of kpop drama either.
"Sadly, yes it happened in groups like SPARE" Dongyu said. "Oh Yeah, their member Charlotte had a scandal about that. She was apparently the best Vocalist in the group and was only put as a Sub-Vocalist." Jihoon explained.
"Yeah, So Haneul isn't exactly wrong, but it's not right. I just didn't think it would happen to us. As the eldest, I apologize. I should've explained better." Dongyu said, looking down.
They all began to sit down in a circle. "It's okay! It's not your fault Dongyu-Hyung!" Iseul said, clearly trying to cheer him up.
"I suppose. I think since we are so close to debuting we should explain what is most likely to happen from here on out." Dongyu sighed, before talking to Iseul. As they both were apart of a larger company prior.
"Fine by me. In SM we had long trainee hours. Longer than now. Our instructors in SM told us 3 things." Iseul began before Dongyu continued the conversation.
"1st, Beauty is above talent. In a workplace like kpop, if your considered ugly you won't make it. If you did, you'd be bullied by the Media. This is why we are all put on diets so often and for so long." Dongyu said, his tone of voice showing his disappointment in the fans of kpop and haters.
"Right, and at the same time if you can't sing, rap or dance you'll be booed off of stage, or something called the Black Ocean will happen. Where the fans basically don't use any of their lightsticks in protest. You'll also still be getting hate on the media." Iseul continued onwards, looking around at the group. Hyungnim was the least affected while Woohyun was the most affected.
"2nd, personalities are fabricated. The personalities we have now, will either be altered or amplified. You know, freedom of speech? you don't have that. Often times you can't say what you want to say. Or you will get kicked out of the group, or put on hiatus. That's in extreme cases though." Dongyu said plainly.
"3rd, Money. If your not apart of a big company chances are you won't get paid, until your debts are paid off. In which we all have a lot of. As well as when the company can actually afford to give you a pay check. I calculated it, if we are relatively known, it would probably take about 2 years for us to get a paycheck. If we are very popular then a few months, and if we are unknown we will probably go our entire contract without getting paid. Which as you all know is 6 years." Iseul explained the last rule that the SM trainer explained to them.
"It's really unfair. It'll only get worse from here. Brace yourselves." Dongyu Warned the members before getting up to leave. "It's getting late, I'm going to sleep. Night." Dongyu said waving them night. Before heading to the dorms.
Soon after, one by one all of the other members left. Except for Jihoon and Hyungnim who stayed after to continue dancing. Silently praying that everything would go well for the group.
