"What the hell!".
Joan exclaimed in surprise, this wasn't the first time a gun was being pointed at her head this close, but this time it was unexpected.
"Give me your phone". Mr. Adams said calmly.
"I am driving, Mr. Adams". Joan said as she tried to concentrate on the wheel.
"Give. Me. Your. Phone!". Mr. Adams shouted as he jammed the tip of the gun to her head.
"Alright, alright". Joan said as she brought it out of her pocket.
"Here, take it".
Mr. Adams collected the phone, but he couldn't unlock it, so he threw a stern look at Joan.
"Can we do this later?". Joan begged him.
"Stop the car". Mr. Adams said in a firm voice.
Joan drove to the corner of the highway, she pressed the brakes and the car came to a screeching halt.
"What now?". Joan asked as she stared at Mr. Adams with no trace of fear in her eyes.
"Open your phone, I want to see your text messages and your call history". He said as he passed the phone to her.
"What is going on, can you explain to me?". Joan asked instead of unlocking her phone.
"Unlock the damn phone, woman!". Mr. Adams raised his voice.
"Don't raise your voice at me, I will unlock it". Joan said calmly as she unlocked it.
Mr. Adams snatched the phone from her and started going through it.
Joan appeared calm on the surface, but she was scared for her life, being close to a crazed armed man like Mr. Adams sent shivers down her spine, her heart beat kept increasing, and her mind was in a haze.
'When did he start getting suspicious of me? Oh my God! He is not as dumb as he looks, this is all my fault for underestimating him, I need to do something fast before this gets out of control'.
"Step out of the car". Joan heard Mr. Adams say after a few seconds of silence in the car.
"What?".
"I said, step out of the car!".
"Do you want me to leave? After everything!".
"Just do as I say". Mr. Adams said, impatient.
Joan opened the door, the cold air immediately caressing her exposed skin gave her some kind of freshness as she stepped out of the car.
Mr. Adams shifted into the driver's seat.
"Get in the back". He said to her as he took the wheels.
'I will make you pay very soon'. Joan said internally.
She felt disrespected, after everything she had done and all the work she had put in for this greedy thing to trust her, he is treating her this way, even pointing a gun to her head, the nerve!
Joan closed the door as she entered the back passenger seat.
Mr. Adams kept the gun in between his thighs, but her phone was nowhere to be seen.
Joan sighed, he was a dead man anyway, she just had to endure for a little while before those monsters caught up to him.

Mr. Adams drove into the garage of a detached bungalow apartment.
This is the house where he will be staying in before he leaves the country three days later, although he wasn't wanted by the police because the Riggs wouldn't even report that their slush funds were siphoned to an illegal private account, it would have been better if the police were the one after him at least his life was guaranteed, living in this unregistered house would buy him the time he needed for a proper escape from the clutches of those human monsters.
They would have been trying to track down his every move, but it would at least take them some time to know where he was at unless maybe there was a traitor besides him that would tell them his exact location, thereby making them catch up with him faster.
He turned to look at Joan, but he caught the latter trying to steal a stare at him.
Joan endeavored to read his expression but got nothing. He looked and seemed normal, like the person who was shouting in anger seconds before was a drastically different person from him.
He stepped out of the car and walked to Joan's side.
Not only that, but he opened the back door for Joan to come out.
"Where's my phone?".
Joan asked as she came out of the car.
"Here, I apologize for that, I was just overreacting". Mr. Adams apologized as he handed over the phone to Joan.
"Did you find what you were looking for?". Joan asked, trying to understand why he changed all of a sudden.
"What do you think I was looking for?". He asked back.
"I don't know, you tell me".
"Let's forget about that and think of how we can spend this money together". Mr. Adams said with a smile.
"It didn't ever occur to me that you would suspect me after everything we have been through". Joan said in a cute little voice that sounded as if she wanted to cry.
Mr. Adams wrapped his hand around Joan's waist to drag her closer to him.
"Please, forgive me, my love". Mr. Adams said softly.
"No problem, I have forgiven you already". Joan lied.
"Really. I want you to smile for me, give me a smile, my love". Mr. Adams spoke.
Joan forced a smile at him as they walked into the house.
---
"Welcome, Mr. Adams".
A deep familiar voice welcomed him immediately as he stepped into the house.
Mr. Adams eyes bulged in surprise as he sighted the last person on earth he ever wanted to come in contact with.
Calvin Riggs is here!
He shouted internally, no words coming out of his mouth, just the expression of surprise and fear on his face.
There he was, sitting cross-legged on the couch and holding a picture in his hands, wearing a devilish smile on his face.
He looked like a devil in human form who wanted to unleash its most unhinged dire desires on any preying weak soul he sets his eyes on.
He turned to Joan, who was standing behind him with a smirk on her red lips, then it finally dawned on him that he had just walked into the devil's trap.
Joan immediately landed a fatal blow on the left side of his neck, just below his jaw.
"Ahhh.".
Mr. Adams shouted in shock as he fell to the ground unconscious.
Ryker immediately injected a colorless liquid into Mr. Adams' neck.

Amelia woke up feeling better than before the next morning, she changed from the patient gown she was putting on to her dress, she decided to spend the night at the hospital after the process was completed even though there weren't any complications, she would go straight to see her grandmother from here after she has seen the doctor.
She picked up her phone to check for any calls or messages, she remembered doing this when she just started dating Liam, she would just wake up early in the morning to read his love texts.
"No, Amelia, you deserve way better". She muttered to herself like she wanted to convince her inner self that she was worth more than anything Liam did for her.
There were two missed calls and a text message, one was from Madam Prisca and the other was from a number with no caller ID.
She decided to attend to them later as she walked into the reproductive endocrinologist's office.
An hour later, she was dismissed, and she headed straight to see her grandmother before going back to her apartment.
The dean was still unconscious but, the doctor said that she would be waking up soon as her body was accepting the treatments given.
Amelia hasn't yet accepted the fact that she is carrying a child, she pushed all thoughts of it at the back of her mind, deciding to just go with the flow of things. She wondered how her grandmother would react when she told her how she got the money for treatments.
Entering into her apartment, she didn't know how she was supposed to feel about everything, the baby that was about to grow inside of her, what will happen during the pregnancy journey and after the birth of her child, those thoughts all seemed like they weren't for the now but thoughts for the future.
She was going to buy a new apartment, new clothes for herself and just start a new life the next morning, everything will return to normal tomorrow, she thought as she gently placed her hands on her abdomen, wondering to herself how she would look when her stomach protrudes.
**************************
Amelia woke up the next morning with a knock on her door, She got up lazily to answer the door, she saw Madam Prisca's face immediately she opened the door, although she wasn't expecting to see Madam prisca this early but later in the day, It was good as she had questions for her to answer now as she would be very busy in the afternoon.
"Oh, Good morning, Madam Pris...".
"Amelia, you have to follow me to the clinic". Madam Prisca interrupted Amelia's greeting.
"What happened?". Amelia asked confused.
"The fertility center called, they think there was a mistake in the whole insemination process, they have also called the fathers of the child". Madam Prisca said with urgency in her low-tone as she pointed at Amelia's abdomen.
"You need to come with me now, it's a matter of urgency, I am sure they would have tried to contact you already".
"I don't understand, what kind of mistake would that be? I did everything I was told to and the doctor said everything went smoothly".
"Amelia, the clinic informed the couple this morning that there was a mistake in the entire procedure and that the sperm inseminated into your uterus was from the wrong donor, do you now understand the urgency of this?".
"What!".
Amelia couldn't even believe what she was hearing, how can a mistake like this be made? How did things get mixed up? She was beyond shocked.
