Ava was not in a good mood after the incident earlier. She was trying to do her work without any distractions. Just then, Emma called Ava.
"Boss is calling you Ava," Emma informed.
"Why?" Ava asked.
"I don't know. Go fast." Emma said, as Ava sighed tiredly. She was already in a bad mood and didn't want it to get worse.
She went to Lorenzo's office and knocked on the door. After a "come in' was heard, she opened the door and peeked inside. The room was pretty decent with the combination of black and grey. As she was busy admiring it, Lorezo cleared his throat, making her aware of his presence. She snapped her head and looked at him, who was sitting on a chair, staring at her intently.
"Good evening, sir. May I know why you called me?" Ava asked with extreme professionalism, like she hadn't just argued with him the previous day.
"Come sit." Lorenzo motioned at the chair in front of him.
"Did you eat your breakfast?" Lorenzo asked.
"Yes sir," Ava said, making herself comfortable on the chair.
"What about lunch?" Lorenzo questioned
"I didn't," said Ava. Before Lorenzo questioned her, she was not even aware that she had skipped lunch.
"Why?" Lorenzo asked.
"Sir, it should be none of your concern." Ava stated as she noticed Lorenzo clenching his jaw.
"It should definitely be. Ms. Ava, I'm your boss. My top priority is the well-being of my employees." Lorenzo stated, controlling his rage. Ava remained silent. Just then, Lorenzo called someone and spoke in a different language, which Ava knew was Italian, as she had been studying Italian since few months now. But she didn't know it fluently, so she couldn't make out Lorenzo's words.
"Now, tell me why you skipped lunch." His voice, demanding an answer, sent chills down Ava's spine.
"I didn't have time." Ava spoke.
"Okay. Now tell me the real reason." Lorenzo asked calmly, letting her know what a bad liar she is.
"Fine! I was not in a mood today," Ava said. She was irritated on how her boss could study her easily.
"And why is that?" Lorenzo asked.
"I got into a fight in college." Lorenzo was taken aback when Ava broke eye contact while speaking. It was her first time doing so. He decided not to ask further questions to Ava and changed the topic.
"Which grade are you in? Lorenzo asked.
"I'm in the final year," Ava said.
"You said you are 16, right?" Lorenzo asked.
"Yeah. I skipped three grades just to make the scholarship available for me until the final year." Ava explained, clearing his confusion. Her capacity to think in advance impressed Lorenzo. He noticed Ava didn't initiate the conversation as usual, so he decided to ask further. He felt peace whenever he spoke to her. There was something about her that attracted Lorenzo.
"So which college are you studying at?"
"Florence University." Ava answered as she noticed a slight smirk on Lorenzo's face, which disappeared instantly. Just then, someone knocked on the door. Lorenzo summoned the person in. A guy came in and gave a pizza parcel to Lorenzo, who just nodded and dismissed him.
Lorenzo opened it and gave it to Ava. "Here!" A pizza had a lot of vegetable toppings.
Ava scrunched her nose in disgust and looked at him. Before she could say anything, Lorenzo spoke. "I want you to finish the complete pizza." Ava sighed and slumped her shoulders. Lorenzo found it extremely adorable as a smile crept up his lips, which had gone unnoticed by Ava.
"With whom did you get it to fight?" Lorenzo asked, as he noticed Ava's mood had improved.
"Someone who is a bit more annoying than you." Ava said, while munching on the pizza.
"With yourself?" Lorenzo questioned, to which Ava rolled her eyes.
"Why did you fight?" Lorenzo asked.
"I didn't fight. He started it." Ava chided.
"Ok, I'm asking why?" Lorenzo asked with frustration, trying to be patient.
"He called my mother by names, even though my mother was not like that. He didn't even meet her once." Ava complained to Lorenzo, as if he was the only one who could solve all her problems. Lorenzo's heart melted as he noticed the adorable side of this badass, sassy human.
"So, what did you do?" Lorenzo inquired, knowing Ava was not one to give up easily.
"I punched him," Ava said.
"That's it?" Lorenzo asked, to which Ava grinned from ear to ear.
"Three times." Ava displayed her three fingers as a smile played on her lips, making her dimple visible. Lorenzo was proud of her but wouldn't be saying it to her.
"You could be suspended, you know?" Lorenzo asked Ava.
"Yeah, I heard David is the principal's son." Ava murmured, having the fewest worries about suspension. Ava didn't even realize that she had completed her whole pizza while talking to him.
"Before your work is done, I'll come to meet you. We need to discuss something related to your work." Lorenzo said, to which Ava nodded and turned around to leave but was stopped by Lorenzo's words.
"Thank you for the pizza, sir. I'm really grateful." Ava sincerely spoke.
"From now on, don't skip lunch. Okay?" Lorenzo warned.
"I'll think about it!" Ava gave him a playful smile before leaving the office.
