Ethan's house
A handsome young man with jet-black hair and a well-developed physique that any boy would be jealous of, was sitting while facing a beautiful young woman with long red hair and a body that would be the envy of any model.
"....??"
There was silence, a long awkward silence. No could blame them though, they just survived that incident. Therefore,
"So, Do you mind explaining." Ethan was the first to break the awkward silence between them and finally asked what have been bothering him.
"What exactly?" Rose asked to be sure about what she would be explaining.
"Everything!" Ethan replied immediately
"Now then where should I start?"" Rose said while thinking of the best way to explain the situation to Ethan.
"Then I'll just go straight to the point. Ethan, you're a demon." Rose dropped the bomb with a straight face.
'W-Wow, you definitely did get straight to the point'
"Wait, what do you mean I'm a devil? I'm obviously not from the demon world." Ethan voiced out, refusing to believe what she said was the truth.
"Well, not fully. You're a hybrid of sorts."
"So you're saying one of my parents has to be demon."
"Yes."
"How could you be sure? And who are you anyways?" Although Ethan asked with a neutral face, his mind was chaotic. First, he got attacked by demons, he almost died and now Rose is saying he's a demon hybrid. None of this makes any sense.
"Well, I'm a hunter." Rose partially answered his question.
"A hunter?" Ethan said with hint of curiosity
"Yes, hunters also know as Slayers is a title given to those who hunt down demons and other creatures of the night." Rose explained
"Wait, there are other supernatural beings as well?" Ethan asked with eyes filled with curiosity. He was like a child who was given a candy for the first time.
"Yes, there are demons, ghouls, vampires, undead and the rulers."
"Wait, so if those fantasy creatures exist, what about their origins?" Ethan asked with eyes of interest
"There is no precise answer for that question. There are speculations and theories on how they came into existence. Some say this beings existed before time itself while some say they were created by an higher being. In any case, all we know is that are three realms in existence. The celestial realm where gods residue in, the demon realm where the creatures of the night dwell and the mortal realm."
"Wow, this is too much for high school student like me to take in. If I wasn't attacked by those things, I wouldn't have believed what you said."
This really feels like a fantasy story
"But that doesn't explain why I was attacked though."
"I'm getting to that part. Normally, when demons invade our realm, they attack humans with high magic power and consume their souls in order to get stronger. Well for your case, your magic power is abnormal.
"Magic power? you mean like mana?"
"Yes, you can also call it mana and almost all races possesses this form of energy within them. You used it during your fight with the Angelos."
"So that's what it was." Nathan said as he remembered he felt a sudden rush of power during that fight.
"However, different beings have different type of magic power. Let's use the demons for example, their magic power is dark and corrupt in nature compared to normal humans. That's how I knew right away that you were a demon and it's also the reason I was able to track you." Rose explained.
"I see." Ethan just said that and looked down as if in deep thought. If what Rose is saying is true, then it would explain a lot of things.
"That would explain why I'm stronger than others." Ethan added
"Yes, Demons are far stronger than humans in terms of both magic power and strength. But in your case, you have an abnormal amount of magic power for a demon. So I'm guessing one of your parents had to be a high-ranking demon." Rose concluded.
"So basically I was attacked because of my high magic power, huh? But is that the main reason? Something doesn't match up." Ethan thought as he recalled the words of the demon knight.
"Death befalls the traitor's spawn."
"Does that mean one of my parents was a traitor to the demon race, huh?" Ethan thought about it and his eyes suddenly widened in realization.
"It couldn't be my mother, right? Then if that is the case, it would mean why she was missing." But he couldn't be sure since he didn't know anything about his mother and his father always avoided that topic.
"My dad might know something but he obviously won't tell me about it. And from what I can see, he might not be normal as well."
But one thing doesn't change, he was being hunted by the demons and there is also the possibility that the hunters will hunt him down if he turns out to be a dangerous existence.
"But why now? Why didn't they attack me when I was younger? why choose to attack me now." The more he thought about this, the more questions he had but he didn't have any answers. Therefore,
Sigh!
He released a heavy sigh and decided not to think about complex matters for now. Now it's time to ask the important question.
"So... what now?" Ethan asked the redheaded beauty before him with a serious expression. She sensed the seriousness of his words and quickly eased his worries.
"I understand your fears but you shouldn't worry about the hunters attacking you. They only hunt down beings that threaten the lives of humans and there are even demon hybrids amongst the hunters as well." Rose said
Although it was the hunter's duty to kill any being that poses a threat to humanity, but that doesn't mean that they will be unreasonable and kill all the other races. Well, even if they wanted to, they lacked the power to do so.
"Well that's a relief."
Yes, Ethan truly felt relieved that he didn't have to worry about the hunters hunting him down. Being attacked by demons is one thing but being hunted by both the hunters and the demons is a completely different story altogether.
"I have made up my mind, I'm going to join your organization." Ethan declared
"Oh really, are you sure? You know you can just live a normal life, right?
"Yeah right! Even if I wanted to, that won't be possible. Besides I have my reasons."
"Alright, we will meet at my organization tomorrow after school." Rose said as she stood up to leave.
"Yeah." Ethan replied but Rose had already left through the front door. Yet, Nathan had a feeling that he was forgetting something important.
He soon realized after he looked around and a particular item was missing and his face turned pale.
"Shit! The groceries!!! My dad is going to kill me!!!"
