Chapter 36 - Urial's VR (?) adventure XI

After completing the mini-game, Hiari proudly showcased her creation.

=======

E-rank health potion (32.5732% purity)

Heals the body in exchange for pain.

*1; Made by the hands of a talented alchemist.

=======

Vero couldn't help but be dissapointed "That's it?"

Hiari couldn't help but pause for a moment "W-well," She said "I haven't touched anything to do with alchemy for years, a-and I don't have ring fingers anymore."

She had lost a few fingers, specifically; both ring fingers, and the left hand's middle finger.

Vero started to take this into consideration, and he came to the fact 'She's pretty talented, less than Urial, and with far less time to make use of... Though, she's worthy of being my lab assistant, if she doesn't have any gripes being close to chimeras and such.'

"...Do you have problems with bloody and/or psycotic experiments that break the laws of war?"

"Um, No?" She responded confused.

"No take-backs, okay?"

"Okay?" She said, still confused.

"Then drink." Vero said as he put the vial of limb-regrowth health potion in her hand.

Hiari didn't think she'd get something so valuable so easily, so she drunk it quickly, fearing that it would be taken back. So, after a few chugs, and then intense pain where her fingers were regrowing.

Far worse than when Alpha fixed up her legs.

The screams of pain reverberated within the jail.

After it ended, she stood up shakily, and looked at her hands, with a cautious and unbelieving smile "My fingers, they're back!" She even got a tear or two of happiness.

Then she paused again, and looked at the man who gave the potion to her. Who looked a bit more like Vero than before, with his smirk "It's good that you're all better, how about you introduce yourself?"

She took a few steps forwards, and did her best to remember her old script "I am Hiari, a student of Tranlan's school of alchemy."

"Heheh." Vero couldn't help but laugh ever so slightly "Follow me, it's time to get you out of this hell-hole."

To these words, she couldn't help but nodded, and followed after he walked through the door.

Vero told the maid "First of all, our little alchemist Hiari is now no longer incarcerated, got it?"

"Yes sir."

"Second, for now, there will be a temporary sleeping spot made for her in my room, so that I can make sure she doesn't try to quit her new job."

"...Yes sir."

"Third, I want a room close to mine to be changed to an alchemy room, understood?"

"Yes sir."

"Last but not least, I want you to get me a few units of differing herbs, as many as you can."

"I'll... Do my best sir."

"Good," Vero nodded to himself, looked at his new lab assistant, and said "Follow me to your temporary place of rest."

So she followed, then when the two entered the room, she looked kind-of shocked, as it was extremely high-quality and flashy.

"Oh, I haven't introduced your employer, and even my own name. I am Vero Skarab, your employer is; Vero Skarab."

"-Eh?"

The face of utter confusion and shock was priceless, while enjoying the view, he jumped onto the bed, and just layed down "Ah~ You should look on your face, but seriously, you're my new lab assistant."

She didn't seem to find it funny, but that didn't matter "Also, the fact that I forgot about you is completely true, I asked today if there was a talented alchemist in our cells, and heard of you. I still don't remember whatever shit I did you, and I don't care to remember."

"What!? You don't care to remember?!"

"Yea, I don't. To be honest, I was kind-off reluctant to give you that potion the moment I saw that swill you made."

"Swill!? I'd like to see you do better!"

"You already used what I'm willing to show you!"

"What?"

"That potion you drunk, I made it."

"Huh???????"

-------

I inspected the goblin corpses for lottery tickets, there weren't any "Come on! My lottery tickets!"

They had all already been harvested the moment I had arrived.

And I wasn't going to bother with taking the right ears either, but Alpha would!

So while she was doing all the things I didn't want to do, I started to inspect the marks left by the aggressor.

They seemed like the ones I make, but, more like a fake version of my markings. So disimilar to my marks of battle, that it's probably a bit of narcisism that causes me to see my silhouette in them.

They even seemed to be primitive marks by someone that was just recently using their prefered weapon, and no, I don't know what kind of weapon they used. I didn't care to inspect further than a fleeting glance.

I used the ears to get my quest money, and, oh! You wouldn't believe how annoying it was to harvest those ears, one of the many reasons I want to get to C-rank. When I get there the adventurer's liscense would start to track your kills and missions for you.

The thing is, I wasn't satisfied, and I quickly picked up another quest.

This time, the goblins weren't dead.

And I had fun killing them all while Alpha watched in slight horror.

I was kind of frustrated by the fact that someone took my lottery tickets, so I took it out on the goblins.

[Skill; activates]

Three goblins were cut in half within a split second, the ones left over started to run, only 4 remain.

[Skill; activates]

I went far faster than usual and punched one of the goblins on the back of the head, then jumped to the next with a karate kick to the 4th and 5th vertabre. The last two were killed normally with a .

I quickly started to just force my hand into their chestal cavities and snatch the magic stones (And skill crystals) out of their harts without taking time to open a good lotto' ticket.

No skill crystals though.

Then another quest!-

No skill crystals, again.

Let's sell all those magic crystals that I don't want (Every goblin magic stone and all those other E-rank stones) first "I'd like to sell these."

"Let me check," The receptionist said "That will be; 6430g, is that okay?"

"Yes." I wasn't going to waste time haggling it up to 10k-g.

I quickly picked up another quest and left, now where's the market...

It was then that I realized that I didn't know, I hadn't explored the place at all, I've litterally just been going after monsters, but; I've got someone for that "Alpha, take me to the market."

"Y-yes." She responded with obidience, causing me to smile lightly.

She should still be afraid of me, and she didn't resist to hard after an order. All I have to do is keep ordering, and she'll get more and more used to it, and less resistant. And most importantly, more relaxed and less closed off.

That's an important part, if I currently try to make her feel 'Love' or 'Friendship' from me in the pace that I need, she'll be suspicious.

So I need to wait until it's time. And maybe an {Infernal chain} could do the trick in setting that situation up...

-----

And so, Urial thought of how to set up a situation to make Alpha vulnerable enough to emotional manipulation '{Infernal chain}, that's something I need for this to make her do something that threatens her life. The materials for that will be quite expensive...

I'll need to make sure she doesn't know I'm the reason she's constricted by endless pain, that means I need a means, or person, to do it for me... But I don't want to waste time to get a pawn, just to throw it away, so I'll need to keep them anonymous while acting like an evil-asshole.'

It had gone far into the reaches of twilight, at a time most would be at sleep. Though, Urial felt no sense of lethargy. But there were obvious pangs of drowsiness on Alpha "Here, a thousand gold, get yourself a nice inn."

"...Don't you dare try anything, or else; Say bye-bye to your life-life." The last sentence was just to make sure she didn't try to run-away.

"...So, no running away?"

"Yes."

"What about talking about you?"

"As long as it's not slander, just so you know, I've never killed anyone with these hands mine."

"Really?" She was very doubtfull.

Urial was slightly offended, he tried his best to tell the truth, in a way that it sounded different than what it actually meant. He had never killed anyone with 'These hands of mine', not that he'd never killed anyone "Yes, do you take me for a shameless liar?"

Seeing Urial's hand starting to drift to his sword, Alpha was suddenly convinced "I-I understand! No talking about how you've killed anyone! N-No slander, I promise!"

Urial's hand went back to the usual posistion that looked like he wasn't on alert while being able to draw his sword quickly.

Seeing her be tense, Urial pause for but a moment before choosing to sow the seeds of the future plan of making Alpha nice and loyal "Relax~ I'm not going to kill you-"

Alpha's eyes constricted for a moment, then couldn't help but sigh in relief for a moment.

Until she was interupted "-for now."

That little shiver of fear put a smile to Urial's face "Go on now, go meet with your 'Friends' or something, not that anything you could actually do would be of ugency to me."

To be honest, anything in this city could be 'Dealt with' without much problem. But letting her some freedom, then crushing all resistence.

He didn't believe he would be unable to let anyone who could be mobilized by Alpha sleep with the fishes.

He walked away with complete confidence, he had a total of around 32 thousand gold in his bank account, and he wasn't going to waste it's value by just letting it pile on.

He would not be a drain on the economy, mostly because money was just a number to him, litterally. After this trial was over, he'd never be able to touch his wealth in this world ever again.

"Hey, burch!" He heard someone call from his side, he quickly turned his head towards the sound, finding the group from before, along with a pale female.

She caught Urial's eye due to the assortment of jewelery on her body, and the fact that all the men surrounding her seemed to be attending to her every whim.

He instantly frowned 'Seriously? Why do I have an enchantress in my personal friend group...' They were always so annoying, restricting your actions. Such a thing was always far to annoying, though he could easily do a bit of scheming to free himself

"Do I know you?" He asked with complete confusion on his face, giving them a second to respond before saying "No? Then bye, let's never meet again."

He turned around with no pause, and continued with what he was doing.

From behind him he could hear them talking about 'Birch'

"How dare he ignore us!" The person who called out said, anger apperant in his tone.

The female said after what Urial assumed to be a sigh "It doesn't matter, mother doesn't like waiting, just ignore him." Her voice seemed to be filled with reverence to her 'Mother'.

It was probably a higher-class enchantress that using her as a snare, bringing people to her by the power of an enthralled enchantress.

It was quite efficient, he had even done it himself once- A few times actually. It's very, very effective.

-Well, actually, something like this didn't often occur without player intervention, so he slightly joked about being 'So lucky' to have discovered one.

-Written in the 7th of febuary, with the last quarter being finished in the 19th of august, 2023.
