It was Saturday morning, a day after prom, and Haewon was still sleeping peacefully even though the time was already past ten.
A knock on her door was all it took to wake her up, and before she could say Jack, Ivy flung the door open and jumped on her bed while Selena chuckled as she walked into the room and shut the door behind her.
"Please wake up, except you want me to die of curiosity," Ivy said while on top of her.
"I still want to sleep some more," Haewon complained as she eyed them both.
They were dressed in their jogging gears, and from the sweat glistening on their bodies, Haewon could tell they had just returned from their Saturday morning exercise.
"You can do that after you give us the details of last night," Ivy said as she lay on Haewon and Haewon pushed her off, and she started shaking Haewon's legs.
"Get your sweaty body off my bed! I will do that when I'm fully awake," Haewon said sleepily as she kicked off Ivy's hand, which was shaking her legs.
"At the rate Ivy is going, I doubt you will be able to sleep. Why don't you tell her what she wants to hear? Then we can all have breakfast and go back to sleep," Selena suggested, and Haewon turned her back to them as she stretched her hands to her bedside drawer to take out her phone. She checked the time and groaned when she realized it was past ten.
"Like you are not curious to know what happened between her and Jake," Ivy said, eyeing Selena like she was a traitor.
"I only agreed to come with you to wake her up because everyone has been calling to speak with her. Just so you know, your mom has called five times. And I suspect that if she calls the sixth time and is told she still can't speak with you because you're asleep, she might think that something is wrong. You know how worried she can be," Selena reminded Haewon, and Haewon threw off the duvet she had used in covering herself as she got off the bed.
"Alright. I will go and freshen up. When I'm done, I will tell you both about it. Not that there is much to tell anyway," Haewon said as she walked to the bathroom, knowing that there was no way she could go back to bed even if they decided to leave her alone now.
"That will do," Selena said, but Ivy didn't think so.
"But you can tell us about it while freshening up," Ivy and Selena said simultaneously, and Haewon giggled.
"Don't you both need to get out of those clothes and freshen up too? By the way, I can't wait to hear all about Nath too. I will join you after I'm done," Haewon said as she flashed Selena a smile while Ivy huffed as she reluctantly stood up and followed Selena out to let Haewon freshen up.
Alone now in the comfort of her bathroom and thinking about the events of last night, she couldn't help but think about the chemistry she had felt with Jake.
She never knew he could be as sweet as he had been last night. He had taken extra care of her and Charlotte, and while on the dancefloor, the spark she had felt was something she knew she hadn't felt before for anyone.
Thinking about Charlotte, she couldn't help but wonder if Charlotte had felt the same way she felt while dancing with Jake. She certainly hoped not.
She had to admit to herself that despite his cold behavior, a part of her liked him. Maybe it was because she still considered him her savior, or maybe not. But one thing she had learned last night was that he wasn't as bad as he posed to be.
The way things had gone smoothly between them and the way he had complimented her so effortlessly had left her heart stuttering.
For a moment, she had felt connected to him, and there was that foreign feeling that had enveloped her on the dance floor, which had her thinking he was going to kiss her when he dropped her off. And she was surprised that a part of her had actually wanted him to. She had been sort of disappointed when he kissed her cheek. Why her cheek? Why not her lips? Didn't he feel the same way?
She paused to look at herself in the mirror, which was hanging in her bathroom, and she shook her head when she noticed how red her face looked merely by thinking about kissing Jake.
What was wrong with her? Why was she thinking about him this way? It wasn't like he had asked her out or anything. He had said the only reason he wanted her to be his prom date was so he could keep the other girls away from him, so why was she overreacting and reading meaning into it? She mused as she returned to her bedroom after she had showered.
After dressing up, she picked up her phone and scowled when she noticed there was still no missed call notification or text from him.
Not that he had promised to call or anything, but she thought that since last night had gone so well between them, he would at least reach out to her and be more friendly now.
Didn't he like her? Or was he back to being his jerk self now that she had done him the favor of being his prom date?
She could tell he had felt whatever she felt on the dancefloor from the way he had gazed into her eyes.
So, if he had felt it, why didn't he call her to at least inform her he got home safely? Maybe she could try calling him to check with him and be sure he was okay. She decided as she dialed his line, but all she heard was the disconnect tone.
She tried again, and it said the number was unreachable. She narrowed her eyes as she tried to make sense of it. Did something happen to him? No, she doubted that.
Perhaps he had blocked her line from reaching him and didn't want to talk to her again. Were they back to ignoring each other? Well, she would keep trying, and hopefully, she would see him in school on Monday, she thought as she headed for the door.
She wasn't surprised to see Ivy standing outside her bedroom door, "Are you ever going to give me a break?" Haewon asked, and Ivy smiled.
"Not until you tell us what happened. You could have saved yourself this stress had you told us about it last night," Ivy said as she hung her arm over Haewon's shoulder, and Haewon just shook her head, amused by Ivy's interest.
Well, she couldn't exactly blame Ivy since she had practically done the same thing last year when Ivy had gone to prom. She had gone as far as sleeping on Ivy's bed to ensure that she would wake up the moment Ivy got back.
"Let her be. She is here now, and you will get to know everything you need to know," Selena called from the living room, and Haewon chuckled while Ivy rolled her eyes.
"I know you are just as curious as I am. Quit hiding under that grownup facade," Ivy said, and Selena laughed.
"I never said I wasn't curious," Selena said with a shrug as they joined her at the dining table so that they could all have breakfast together.
