As Dirk journeyed from Mureild to Tolvan 1, his mind drifted back to his past. He was moving quietly, a refugee blending into the background, trying not to attract attention from his many contacts. This was something he and Jon had agreed upon: a low profile was best.
The trip was reminiscent of his first journey to Mureild, the planet he now called home. His mind filled with memories of how Captain-X™ of SubDivison™ had caught his parents and him as they tried to illegally migrate. He remembered the fear, the desperation, and his parents' determination to save him, stowing him away in an escape pod.
Dirk arrived at Mureild as an orphan and was forced to fend for himself on its streets. It was there he met Brandt Steele, a man who sought information on a high-profile criminal. Brandt found Dirk's knowledge useful and let him tag along on bounty hunts. Over time, Brandt became a surrogate father, adopting and raising Dirk to be the most feared Bounty Hunter in the Galaxy.
The memories began to fade as Dirk's ship approached Field Area 2 on Tolvan 1. It was a notorious region known for its criminal underworld. Dirk, however, found comfort in the grime and grit. It reminded him of home, of his beginnings.
In Tolvan 1, corruption was as rampant among the government's enforcers as it was among the criminals. Still, Dirk was here for a purpose: he needed information from a friend, a SubSoldier™ named Tym, who had proven a valuable source of intel over the years.
Tym had given Dirk leads on Zahira's whereabouts, but when Dirk arrived at the supposed location, he found Zahira had been detained, her whereabouts unknown. This made Dirk wary of the information, and even more so, the source. But Tym was all he had.
The next day, after paying Tym for some information on a mysterious figure known as TJ, Dirk retreated to his accommodation. He slept with his gun in his hand, wary of possible attacks from his rivals. As sleep took hold, Dirk dreamt of his past – of Brandt, their training, and the tragic explosion that took Brandt's life.
He was rudely awakened by the sound of pounding at his door. His dream had taken a turn, morphing into a nightmare that seemed to spill into reality. Tym, wounded and gasping for breath, muttered about the "Ghost of the Tyrant" before dying in Dirk's arms.
Dirk felt a chill run down his spine. Vowing to avenge Tym's death, he set off after the assailant, tracking him through the dark corridors. As Dirk pursued the dark figure, he realized he was running out of time. If the killer reached the spacecraft and left Tolvan 1, it would be near impossible to find him.
Determined, Dirk shot a tracking device at the escaping spacecraft, marking it before it could disappear into the vastness of space. As the ship lifted off, Dirk knew the chase was far from over. He would bring Tym's killer to justice, even if it took him to the farthest corners of the galaxy.
