Synopsis

Chapter 1 - Shattered

3rd Person POV

Owen has always been a person who could be described in one word. Average. Throughout his childhood he was average, he always got B's in school and rarely A's and C's . He loved playing football but he was average at it as well. He surprisingly had a lot of friends but no good friends or a best friend, he was always a backup friend. He was rarely invited to parties and even if he was invited people there would mostly ignore his presence unless some help was required but he was actually fine with that. He was acquaint with them for apperances sake as well

From the ripe age of '8' he started becoming well 'cultured'. At that age his parents got him a 3rd hand computer which cost them 50$. And that 50$ was the savings he had from his birthdays and gifts which he got from relatives. He found out about anime from a blog when he searched for 'things he could do when he was free'. The first anime he watched was Death Note and frankly he could not understand most of it, he had to re-watch it multiple times just to understand it but when he did, it was as if he was enlightened.

He kept watching more and more anime, slowly he stumbled upon manga and light novels.

To say that he was fascinated would be a massive understatement. From then on he always wanted to seek the supernatural, at least get a glimpse of it. He explored every place in his hometown but he could find nothing, he understood that he would have to travel the world to explore various other places. He could not be bound by his hometown. But for that he needed money, visa and passport . The last two could be arranged easily but for the first one he would have to work hard.

From the age of 16 he started working hard on his part time jobs, he worked at a fast food restaurant in the evening and as a Mascot at night. Due to this his grades began slipping a bit but it did not hit the rock bottom. His parents barely payed him any mind as they were busy fawning over his sister.

Ahh, Owens sister, Diamond , oh did her named matched her perfectly. If she was kept between 50 children her age she would definitely shine the brightest among them. She was beautiful with sun kissed golden hair and tanned skin. She was a sweet child and her mother and father loved her to death unlike a certain someone. She was 10 years younger than Owen. Owens view towards her was neutral as he never really interacted with her that much, she was usually with her mom during the day and dad during the night.

Anyways back to Owen.

At 18 years old he already had decent savings but he was certainly not in the best of shape as he had been burnt out due to the part time jobs and studies. He 'informed', not asked but informed his parents that he was moving out and he would be traveling. His parents were very disappointed as they wanted him to become a doctor but they got over it after his sister said that she will be a doctor and make them proud unlike her useless brother. Owen did not bother to talk with them as he took the few belongings he had and left.

The next few years were filled with struggle, he traveled in the back of trucks, he crossed continents through general ships to save money and slept at gas stations but he never stopped looking for the supernatural. From the shrines in Japan to the grand Canyon in USA he visited all places which had even little evidence of supernatural activites but he found nothing.

At the age of 24 he finally realised something, something he should have realised a long time ago. He was exploring a special mountain in California, his clothes consisted of a ragged shirt and a sweatpants torn in several places. He fell down on his knees after he reached the mountain peak. Again. He found nothing. Again. No evidence. Not even a feel. His world shattered as his eyes filled with tears. He had wasted a good chunk of his life. His savings were almost over and he did not have proper food for days. Tears streamed down his face as he cried unrestrained. All his dreams are fake, there IS NO SUPERNATURAL. There is NO GOOD AND EVIL. It was all a lie , it was all a lie...........

He understood what he had to do now, he walked over to the edge of the peak, he was about to jump when he saw something sparkle at a distance, it was barely visible, a sparkle, beneath a rubble of stones. He thought might as well cheak it out before he killed himself. He dug under the rubble with his bare hands, it took him a long time, his nails were broken and his hands were torn in numerous places but he didn't care. He didn't care at all. What was in front of him shocked Owen. It was a lamp, a golden lamp just like the one from alladin. Is this fate? Owen questioned himself. He thought that fate was playing tricks on him but he rubbed the lamp anyways, what happened next would change Owens fate, but will it be for the better or the worse. Not for him but for the world.
